  5. Met my wife in 1955 and got mariried in 1960' so 53 years on the 1st of March. I do,nt regret one minute of of the time spent with her. LOTW
  6. B James of Rugby made the "avon" and "kennet perfection", rods and they are the only rods that I have ever heard become worthwhile collector items, With most rods, thosands were made, then stored away when the next generation came along. About the only things with any sort of value are early experimental reels and those items of end tackle that are usually lost, ie plugs, spinners, kynochs, etc.LOTW
  7. You still have plenty of time to mend and get out again, I went decoying on some stubble today and intend to do so again to morrow, I always shoot on my own and I,m well into my seventies, LOTW
  8. It,s at least twenty y ears since I owned a bitch, and then when she came into season I would give her the veterinary version of an amplex tablet. I found them to be very safe, I had taken her out beating and never had a dog come near her. Now my son has a little bitch and I told him about the tablets so he looked for them on the internet without success, it would appear they are no longer available, I just wondered why. I can remember they were advertized on TV as a means of disguising bad breath. Any thoughts? LOTW
  9. 40 is a lovely age to be, you ask anyone who is my age 76. LOTW
  10. Robert Burns. A mans a man for awe that. Love Pam Ayres comic verse. LOTW
  11. I think that fisheries and anglers can forget about any assistance on the improvement of waters as long as other agencies maintain their positions. The biggest stumbling block is of course the r s p b. Their policies do not include respect for anyone else,s opinions or ambitions. I was talking last week to Scottish enviroment employee who had a licence/permit to shoot over 20 cormerants, the figure was reviewed this year and reduced to 1 yes one 1 There is concern about migatory fish spawning streams. so some clever soul has intoduced beavers I,m sure the beavers will respect the fish by not building dams. I,ts a shame, but the improvement of waters, be they still or flowing would only succeed when those who have a vested interest in the fishing are in a position to take on the wealth and mainly unelected power that would oppose what was nessesary to bring about former glories. It is unfotunate that the effort made to bring about tremendous improvments to water quality was only a means to feed more birds. LOTW lotw
  12. Makes F1 look pedestrian, plenty of bottle and hugely skillful. LOTW
  13. I do,nt really comprehend all that this involves, but I do know that banks employ large and very expensive legal teams, and I would be surprised if anything "iffy", is done without being run past them. I fear that this is going to be another MP,s expences fiasco. What really puzzles me, is why people who are extremely high earners, feel the need to be "iffy" in order to get more. LOTW
  14. I am of the opinion that there has been some influence brought by the south, with their own finacial problems it could not possibly afford the 16 billion pounds a year that the treasury invests in the north, especialy now that the large sums given by the EC have dried up. LOTW
