  1. Hi Could someone tell me how to remove the ejectors on my model 82 Laurona. I’ve tried to look on the net but only seem to get adverts for guns for sale. Thanks in advance.
  2. I was told that Swiss powder is more ‘vigorous’ than ordinary Black Powder and used a smaller amount in my single shot pistol. If your shotgun is proofed for nitro you should PROBABLY be ok but I’d work up a load just as in any reloading exercise.
  3. Porter was originally all the dregs from the beer sold the night before put into a bucket and sold very cheaply to the porters who worked at Smithfield meat market, hence the name.
  4. I shot half a dozen Rabbits on Monday evening, I paunched them just before leaving the farm. I put them into my game fridge and left them over night, the day after, I skinned and jointed them and as some of them were a bit bloodshot I soaked them overnight in saline. However today , when I went to cut the pieces up prior to mincing them, there was a strong gassy smell and there were small bubbles all over the meat. Needless to say I binned them, can someone tell me what happened please?
  5. I have a rule about Mushroom picking ... DON'T !! Unless you have someone with you who KNOWS what each one is you can end up in real trouble. Amanita the most toxic British fungi closely resembles Caesars mushroom which is edible You will only get it wrong once.
  6. We are goose shooting on the foreshore and Duck flighting on marshes and splashes, so they'll all have to be steel. We'll probably stick to the 1s as they're what we're used to using. Thanks -Paul.
  7. Hi , three of us are planning a booked trip to Orkney for later on this year. We were wondering what size of shot we should take with us, we will be shooting both Goose and duck. We normally use size 1 but a friend of my son has recommended BB for the Geese. We don't want to travel all that way with the wrong shot sizes. Any help from someone with experience of shooting up there would be very welcome.
  8. A Rimfire Magic trigger kit is not much more than £14 delivered. They are a great improvement on the factory trigger and are really easy to fit. The lightest pull you can achieve is 1lb, which is ok for the range, but not recommended in the field.
  9. Midway Uk is run by Pete Starley, who also runs a Black Powder shooting business, which seems to take up much of his time. If I need parts for my Ruger, I always deal with Roger, at SYSS. He is always polite and knowledgable.
  10. Mr.Pigeon, I don't want to seem like I'm having a go at you, but PLEASE do some proper research before applying for an FAC. I am a Police Officer who has worked in Firearms Licencing during a spell of injury. You have to convince the feo that you are a responsible person to be allowed to use a firearm in the open. This includes knowledge of calibres, safe use of backstops etc. I would also add that in West Yorkshire, you would not be granted a .17hmr for use on Fox.
  11. I don't use them for Pigeons, but I use 3ft ones when I'm ambushing Rabbits. They are great as you can set the net at various heights using the inbuilt clips.
  12. I use a 7ah battery on my magnet and get about six hours from it, using dead birds. So I assume that the magnet draws just over one amp.
  13. Hi Russ, can you pm me please, with your fee for a flight. Both myself and my son are very interested in coming with you. Thanks-Paul.
  14. Hi, I have a Freelander 2, with General Grabber 2s on it. I don't really understand the comments about them being noisy on the road. I regularly travel to Oxfordshire from Yorkshire and have never had a problem with any noise.
