  1. Yes, I have just one. Its well used with missing bits of paint and I believe there is some rust on the hooks and rings. Black top, silver sides and bottom. You can have this one for free if you'll cover postage or collect?
  2. Its 17cm Perch (MD-CCPE). Would £5 posted be ok? Its barely used. Postage is a nightmare on these. Are you looking for anything else? Sorry I dont have any Zalt lures, never heard of them either...?
  3. Dont think so fella, most of mine are 10cm or less. Cheers. Martin
  4. lol I used a tape measure for the pictures. What do you class as salmon size? I've never fished for salmon so I'm not sure what you chaps use. Let me know and I'll separate out the relevant pics for posting. I only have the straight Pikie Im afraid. I'd love to post pics but I took photo's individually as my intention was to auction the lures individually...then Royal Mail raised their prices and made it pointless. I'll see if I can get some kind of gallery sorted somewhere, would make this a lot easier...I realise I've somewhat created a rod for my own back, pardon the pun.
  5. I have a large quantity of fishing lures which I want to sell. Some are new, some are nearly new, some are used (which is often a good thing for pike particularly). I have mostly pike sized lures but also a collection of smaller ones suitable for chub and perch, even miniature plugs which are very hard to find and expensive! I'm aiming for £3.50 per lure + P&P on average. Bearing in mind, some of these lures are £20+ at RRP. Discounts for quantity due to postage savings. Postage for a single lure is very high thanks to the idiots at Royal Mail HQ so quantity sales is what im aiming for. What I do have, and these are quite rare, are 3 Heddon Zara Mouse lures. I have one of each brown, black and white. The black one has never seen water, just my tackle bag. These are ludicrously effective on pike not to mention incredibly exciting to use, probably more than any other surface lure due to how they appear. I am asking for £10 each. I would like to ask if anyone has any REQUESTS for lures. I may well have what you need and perhaps we can go from there. Please post your requests and I will see what I have. Pics can be provided. I have pictures of all of them, but as theres around 120 so far, I cannot possibly post pics of them all here. I'll work on compiling a full list. A list of lure brands is as follows...Abu Garcia, Heddon, Rapala, Cotton Cordell, Luhr Jensen, Berkeley, Storm, Lucky Strike, Kuusamo, Shakespear, Arbogast, Bass Pro, Cabelas, Mepps, Creek Chub, Manns, Muskie Innovations. A lot (but nowhere near all) are in Fire/Hot Tiger pattern as this was the most effective for me over the years. That list is not intended as spam but will give any lure fisherman an idea of which patterns i might have. *Mods*, if this is not allowed, please notify me as I do not intend to break the rules here, just do my best to make sure people can get what they specifically want. I just have so much stuff I dont know where to start and it seems stupid listing everything as it will just be confusing.
  6. Oh lordy, I'm giving up fishing and I have tons of lures and some very nice rods and reels mostly sourced from the USA and I'm looking to sell them all. A bit late now though I guess unless you need some extra stuff?
  7. Guess I should have said non lethal rather than humane. I personally think shooting is the most humane method and frankly, you're totally right about relocating them, its just absolutely not practical. Its well worth getting opinions though as its no good just saying what I think and expecting people to take it as gospel. Thanks to all of you, I'll put forward the options and see what kind of response comes back.
  8. I have a Urika 2 and I've tried examples which cycle Hull CompX 21g flawlessly. Mine does not. Neither does mine cycle 24g 67mm that I bought to test. However, Im considering doing some work on the gun to improve this as I know they are capable of it. To be frank, as several others have said, I cant really see a reason to use 21g in a semi auto, aside from a small cost benefit. For clays, 28g are a marginal cost increase and give a better pattern than 21g and most will cycle flawlessly at 70mm case length. Urika 2 is a fantastic gun an I am over the moon with mine. It FEELS like a gun, if that makes any sense. I have to say, some of the other auto's I tried did not.
  9. Dubai has no postal address system either. In fact, forget postal codes, try taking a taxi. You have to describe where you want to go. I kid you not. Oil wealth does not make one intelligent.
  10. Hello all and many thanks for the wide variety of suggestions. Some of the points raised it is fair to say I had already considered although in my intial post, whilst not wanting to over simplify, I did not want to write a post so long and with so much detail that people would feel "put out" when asked to read it. The old "tl;dr" thing. Elevated shooting postions and artificial backstops were considered but are impractical for several reasons which are probably too in depth to mention here. I have discussed the matter with the local FEO at length with appropriate supporting information. From the word go, when I accepted the permission, my judgement was that it was unsuitable for rifles and the FEO reinforced my decision. The exercise was mainly to benefit the landowner I have to say, as it was a second opinion on my "no rifles" approach. Indeed, as a fairly new hunter, it was also personally reassuring to find the FEO's thoughts echoed my own and I found them perfectly reasonable, a good sign for the future. Trapping, netting and ferreting were also methods I considered, although they are not something which I can personally undertake as I have neither the experience nor the desire to learn which I have made clear to the landowner. One point I will raise however, is that if the "no shooting" covenant is in place due to the landowner being an anti, then short of using humane traps (not really an option for a pest species due to relocation issues), I cannot see why anyone would favour one method of disposal over another. I will put that view forward next time I am there. Every option ends with a dead rabbit and its important the landowner understands that and understands their responsibility under the Acts mentioned. I seem to be getting the hang of the whole thing anyway which feels pretty good personally. These sorts of issues are not something you initially expect when you get into hunting and you kind of need to learn on the "hop", pardon the pun. I am grateful to all of you for your input and hopefully we will receive a positive reply from the landowner in due course so I can really make a dent in numbers. One question I would like to ask. When using lethal traps, what is the actual method by which the rabbit meets its end? Could I also ask the same question with regards to netting and using ferrets? I am assuming that the rabbit is clubbed or has its neck broken? Just in case I am asked, IS there a humane method? I believe there is not, but I would like to be able to say that categorically, there is not.
  11. 7 acres is fine for a 12ft/lb air rifle and in this case, in my assessment, a moderated .410 (proximity of live stock). The issue is really that it is very hard to stalk the rabbits on this property and where they mainly tend to congregate is not safe to shoot, so they really need to be tackled at source, so to speak. Thanks for the input although I'm really not sure whether a lease clause can prevent shooting. Might indeed be one for the BASC team. Thanks fellas.
  12. There was an advert in the back of the last issue of BASC magazine advertising for a pest control franchise called Pest-Force.co.uk Chap called Paul Wilkinson. I'm not associated with it, just spotted the advert a while back and happened to see your post. Maybe its of some use to you.
  13. Hi all, Havent posted here in a while, I hope I am still welcome I have an interesting problem and I thought maybe someone here would be able to offer a bit of advice. I shoot a small permission of around 7 acres for rabbits. I can find no active warren on the property although I have seen active warrens in the adjacent fields, on both the north and south of the property. I think it is safe to assume that the rabbits visit the permission just at meal times as the grass is in astonishing condition and lots of large bushes, shrubs and trees litter the land, providing perfect cover. As a result, I made enquiries as to the possibility of tackling the rabbit population from a different angle, namely the adjoining fields, which are large enough for the use of a rifle, whereas the permission I have currently, is not suitable for even FAC air. The result of the enquiry by the landowner of my permission, was that the tenant farmer is absolutely overrun on his entire lease with rabbits. However, there is a clause in the lease which stipulates that there is to be no shooting on the land. No wonder then, that the rabbit population is out of control. Enquiries will be made to the landowner directly, although I cannot help but think that the holder of a lease and/or landowner of an agricultural holding must have some responsibility when it comes to ensuring that vermin are not allowed to breed to the extent where they leave the land and begin to damage adjoining properties. Has anyone come across a similar situation? If the landowner comes back with a "no", I really am not sure what I can do other than plod on with the .410. The owner of my permission is rather exasperated as you can imagine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers.
  14. Based on the above, since the police are only looking for professional opinion as to your mental health, she must have lied in her response to the police as a result of her anti-shooting views. Otherwise why would they revoke? Her personal views are irrelevant so one can only conclude that she responded to the request to suit her own agenda. This would be highly unprofessional and she would run the risk of disciplinary action by the GMC. Frankly, even her comments to you would be enough to complain to the GMC if you can prove them.
  15. Point taken and yes, you are correct, however, the police require general public support to operate effectively so need to be seen to do something strong on such sensitive issues. There are two sides to every coin. As shooters, we do need to co-operate with the police which includes giving them a break from time to time. They are only trying to do a job afterall. It makes sense for shooters to remain as supportive as possible of the police, they are not the enemy of shooting, not in general. Anti-police sentiment helps nobody. That said, I dearly hope for a review of firearms legislation because at the moment, it is unfair on shooters, the public and the police.
  16. I am not suggesting in any way that this is the case here but I distinctly remember being asked by the FEO at interview if I had a stable marriage. He specifically asked if I had ever been unfaithful or thought my wife had and just generally if we were happy and even what we planned for our anniversary. I told him I would answer but that I was also aware he could not legally ask the question he was asking or rather, I was under no obligation to answer....we had no such problems with our marriage however so I did not particularly mind. I pressed him as to why he was asking and basically he was under instructions to identify any potential circumstance where there is even a remote possibility for the use of a firearm in domestic violence. I did understand his reasoning. Ultimately, even whilst it is not the exact letter of the law to do so, the police take the consequences when something like Peterlee happens. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that police forces have gone through records again and picked out ANYONE with reports of domestic issues, no matter how minor. Then proceded to revoke all certificates as a precaution whilst they investigate further. I have a strong suspicion that you will get your certificate back. Lets not be so quick to call it injustice. The police afterall, do ultimately bare the responsibility in the eyes of the public if they miss a potential red flag. Personally, instead of going the legal route immediately and antagonizing the situation, I would write a letter to the Chief Constable expressing concern as to the manner of the revocation and explaining that, if marriage counselling was the reason for the revocation, could they elaborate as to why marriage problems driven over concerns for your sons well being, would be a valid reason for determining your suitability for firearms certificates. CC the FEO by name. Of course, if you write such a letter and receive no reply or an unsatisfactory reply, take it further. I would caution against using this board if you go the legal route, it is public and as such may jeopardise your case if it went to court. Good luck either way, you seem like a decent chap.
  17. I saw this and it will no doubt be of interest to many of our members. My apologies if already posted, had a brief look but couldnt see anything. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/countryside/9061388/Legal-battle-threatens-Englands-grouse-moors.html
  18. Flash OK so its late...random suggestion
  19. As per topic, does anyone play poker with any kind of seriousness? i.e for a living/part of a living. Just curious, would be interesting to meet anyone else who does. I'm not hardcore, but neither am I brittle and weak when it comes to the big game I'm on mid stakes. Anyone?
  20. Maybe a hip flask is required to wear these: http://www.thesportingstore.co.uk/product.php/113/bisley_shooting_sock_and_garter_set___olive_cassat
  21. Most of us here are all about gun safety and what not. So too are the manufacturers right? Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this item a short time ago.. Shooting and drinking, hmm, well, theres a little redneck in all of us perhaps?
  22. Well when a case comes to court, the judge will consider the wording of the law as written, if it is unclear or called into question, he will make a judgement based on his interpretation of the law and its overall intention. Usually this involves common sense, as one key tenant of law making is that a law should not be "absurd". The judge will then give a ratio decidendi (reason for deciding). Thats how judicial precedent (case law) is made. One example case off the top of my head would be Adler V. George [1964] 2QB 7. Had the law (The Official Secrets Act in this case) been applied verbatim, then the defendant (and in the future any member of the public by precedent) would have been allowed to wander around military bases at will, clearly not something the law was supposed to allow! Also, I suppose I was trying to illustrate that just because one piece of legislation says you can do something, even if it is explicit, another piece of legislation may be introduced in court as the basis for either a prosecution or defence argument. Only a judge can really decide which laws are applicable to a particular case and also how they are applied. Please understand, I was not trying to argue that carrying uncovered guns is wrong (or right), just that there is always an opposing argument, especially in law. Even a rule as simple as "Keep off the grass" is open to interpretation in legal terms. So in my humble opinion, it is always best to be cautious and keep them covered when in certain places. Hence, using our common sense. We're both on the same page I believe. Edit: The CPS would initially decide under which law they wished to bring the case, if they decided to bring a case at all.
