  3. Not found that at all. Through a baikal hushpower 2 inch is very quiet especially to 3 inch. People are always asking about how quiet they are and the simple answer is that you can walk around a farm and pop off squirrels and crows without disturbing the whole wood. Tried 3 inch through a non silenced 410 and thought it was as loud as a 20g. on a side note if anyone is re-loading I have spent 410 carts in 2, 2/1/2 and 3 inch. Will need to count up but probably 100to 150 Happy to post at cost
  4. Have a look in Holts March sale as I think I saw an investarm 20b ou for sale which was showing a low guide price.
  5. It has been a strange season with some of the issues raised hitting a chord. Early in the season we shot a lot of birds from the previous year understanding that if we didn’t they would dominate the feeders as the new birds spread from the pens. The new birds did spread but only come back when we have a hard frost. The birds will only return for the food source when needed. The cover crop failed( maize) or would have been very patchy so replaced with a keepers relief ( 12 different seeds) type and is has provided fantastic cover although I cannot see evidence of birds feeding on it so the birds have ploughed through the wheat. We may have planted it too densely as it is thick but you live and learn. We should finish the year at somewhere between 30-40% but bags seem lower but the cartridge count has been higher , could be poor shots but the weather on shoot days we have had a good breeze and the birds have been like rockets. Guns miss every shoot hopes that birds held will breed and we would see the odd young bird in the quiet spots in previous years . This year I saw 3 or 4 hens with little “ bees” or chicks which I had never seen before but obviously covid left a lot more birds but the likely hood of them surviving is low as we know. On a small part time shoot the biggest impact is managing the vermin at the right time. We would shoot 30-40 squirrels per year this year we trapped for the first time around the pens and added another 100 to that figure. You don’t catch anything in summer. We poison the rats in the pens at the end of the season so we are clear for the new birds and low risk of anything else eating the dead rats. We use Larson traps at the end of the season as they pair up and become more territorial Foxes are shot all year but most are shot as cubs as this is easier and effective, we do get the odd one or two seen on a shoot day but we operate a no ground game rule. I have not shot in a frost for 6 years and8 years for snow. This season I have worn a coat twice and only once for rain Most is as it has always been, the weather is not.
  6. not a dirty shaft as straight out the box I was adjusting the flow which meant the flaps caught on the side as it span. 1/2 inch lower not a problem but the fuse blew. sounds like a 70’s porno!
  7. Thank you.. the fuse seems very sensitive as I have now blown two but guess better than breaking the motor
  8. Looks like great value and good looking gun. maybe LOP might help but should go pretty quick.
  9. Travelled from Surrey today for the Game Fayre using Waze and no traffic issues straight in no problem. Plenty to do and see, could have done with going for a couple of days. ( gunmakers row mainly and not fishing although did see fly fishing Italian) Great to see people out and about enjoying themselves
  10. I shoot over a farm with wheat and barley and the pigeons seem to be about, but more interested in the margins which have been cut and this is what is attracting the pigeons not the barley… very odd. barley will be cut in the next 2 weeks or less depending on the sunshine
  11. I found it difficult to find anything about Bland and valuations, the USA connection probably explains it. I have a Bland hammer gun 30 inch Damascus barrels and 2 and 3/4chambers which I hoped was a pigeon gun but not described in Holts when purchased although a recent trip to my rfd immediately called it a pigeon gun and valued it at £3k if rebrowned the barrels . seems a lot but prices are all over when looking atGuntrader. Sorry to high jack thread
  12. Teardrops are an option when buying. I have a grade 6 without would agree that it looks like a grade 5 or prestige which look better than the 6 with the gypsies kiss
  13. I have been given the following .410 carts from a mate and before I use them just thought I would ask if they were valuable/ collectible and an idea of price and age as they look old. Eley 50mm 6s full box Eley Extra Long 3 inch smokeless 5s x 11 Eley 2 inch 5s x 13in box Eley 2 inch 9’s or showing as ix on top so assuming x3 TopMark x3 27mm made be home made
  14. I think your dentist is proposing for you to have mini implants. If you had an existing set of dentures they could be used as part of that procedure but as you have lost additional teeth it is not an option. Dentistry is no different to other sectors in that you pay more for brands that spend money on marketing, premium brand for flexible dentures is Valplast but an alternative may be 40% cheaper and do the same thing ie Sunshine but depends on what the dentist is trained in. Flexible acrylic dentures are a private option and hold to the gums better and hence you will have fewer problems with consuming a varied diet and therefore you require only 2 mini implants to retain when other dentures may require 4 mini implants. You will pay more for the flexible denture but save on the surgical in requiring only 2 mini implants. I have heard from patients that flexible dentures are life changing so to add mini implants with a flexible dentures it should be great and good value as it should last for 10yrs + You should be able to bag interest free credit as most provide it now ( not a dentist but work on the commercial side)
  15. On small shoots it is usually a 1/2 gun or full gun used as rent. Keeps the farmer interested in the shoot and forms relationships long term
  16. Make sure you have your license and insurance as they usually check.
  17. Thanks for the replies . you tube guidance in Spanish did the trick. the innards had been tinkered with and the part was upside down and also missing 3 ball bearings. The trigger wasn’t cocked when I fitted it and it was a bit fiddly but managed to get it all together even without a main spring clamp. (Pakistan YouTube guidance using body weight. Stock refinished in Boiled linseed oil and all back together working.... surprised myself!
  18. Looking for some help! i was asked to have a look at an Original 35 which was missing a trigger unit., everything else looked in place. I ordered a new trigger unit and tried to fit it but the retaining pin is blocked from sliding through by a spring internally. The gun will break and slides freely but will not hold a cock without a trigger i’ M guessing. you tube has not helped just wondered whether you had any advice.or ideas to resolve
  19. If you go back to Halfords they will probably have a box you can work through to find it. Kwik Fit did the same to me and when I popped back they gave me a choice of 5 to try! Specific to my make and model. Obviously they never forget to return the locking nut!
