  1. Angelo. An application for moderators should be made in the section used for the acquisition of additional firearms and the expanding ammunition requirement should be placed in the ammunition required for possession and acquisition sections. There is a difference between 'target' .22rf, that you will have used at the club for target shooting and hollow point ammunition traditionally used for vermin/live quarry. Whilst both will expand on impact, the hollow points are specifically designed to expand to a much greater degree, therefore maximising the tissue damage and shock values on impact and ensure a greater stopping capability.
  2. That's why you have been informed that you are not allowed to shoot Fox with a .22 (Yet) Once you have submitted your request for variation, if granted, you will be able to shoot over the land in question with a moderated .22 for Fox. Please ensure that you stipulate on your variation submission that this is your intention, to ensure that when your FAC is returned it will have confirmation of this fact within the additional conditions section. Also please ensure that you make a specific request for expanding ammunition at the same time, so that you can use this for all vermin. As I said previously this permission will also be placed as a condition and qualified as to use.
  3. Angelo Can you let me know who you spoke to regarding not being able to shoot Fox with a .22. Was it Bridgend FLD and if so have you a name. Also do you have permission to shoot vermin with a .22 or is this the variation you are seeking in addition to the moderators.
  4. If you have authorisation on your FAC to shoot vermin with a particular calibre then there is no problem in shooting Fox - providing you have permission from the 'owner' of the shooting rights and the land in question has been passed for that calibre by the Chief Officer of Police for that area. That is if you do not have an open certificate. If you have an open certificate, you still need to have vermin in the conditions section for that calibre and you still need the permission of the owner of the shooting rights. With regard to expanding ammunition, the ability to possess, purchase or acquire expanding ammunition (or the missiles of such ammunition - in the case of home loading) is also the subject of an additional 'condition' and must be added to your FAC and its use qualified if you wish to possess and use said ammunition. I may be wrong and I apologise if I am, but I have never seen a FAC that states Fox on it - Deer yes but not Fox - Maybe its just a Welsh thing but Fox in Wales are classified as Vermin and I believe that Fox are also classified as Vermin in Essex - See WWW. Essex Vermin Control. Angelo - I agree with codling99, each time you try to qualify a statement you are digging a larger hole. If you would like any advice on interpreting the additional conditions on your FAC, pm me and I will be glad to assist, or if you would prefer - give Helene Rodgers a call at Bridgend HQ, I am sure she will also be happy to help you.
  5. Angelo pm me if you would like to discuss further. Shooting Fox with a .22 is perfectly legal, however there are fundamental rules that apply to ensure that the Fox does not suffer a lingering death.
  6. Yes we also have Pigeons in South Wales too. The simple point being that by answering questions in an honest and professional way you do not risk putting the genuine novice off from asking what might be stupid questions to the more experienced, and perhaps contribute to an accident or gross act of stupidity which will definitely hit the headlines and do nothing for our sport.
  7. Hi Guys I have only recently joined this forum so please forgive my interruption of your ongoing investigation into Angelo's credibility. At the risk of receiving some flack from you 'experienced' shooters I have followed this thread with some interest and would like to add my opinion for what its worth. My point - Giving him the benefit of the doubt, Angelo is obviously not very experienced and rather than criticise him for his lack of knowledge, the more experienced shooters amongst you ought to be helping and advising him, providing the correct and proper answers to the questions he asks. If he is a raving anti - then he will know that the people on this forum are responsible and caring sportsmen and women and that they have nothing to hide and are not in any way at all ashamed of their sport. On the other hand, if he is a genuine novice that really is looking for help and assistance, then the advice he receives will make him a better sportsman and hopefully encourage him to continue to ask for help and advice throughout his shooting life. Do you not think it is better to waste your time trying to 'educate pork' than to risk yet another potentially fatal accident or act of stupidity bringing our sport into disrepute? If he is genuine, we could enhance his gratification, point him in the right direction on all aspects of gun safety, and encourage others to participate in the question and answer aspect of this forum. If he is not genuine, he is at least going to know that you are a responsible group of sportsmen who care about gun safety and the humane way in which you both respect and despatch your chosen quarry species. I apologise if this sounds a bit like a soapbox speech, but I would like you all to consider the benefits of providing sound practical advice to those who ask for it – regardless of their reasons.
  8. Very interesting. Would you know if the same applies for the .308 Win and Nato 7.62.
  9. I don't think we should be too hard on Mark, at 15 I didn't know what a clitori was either.
  10. Hi Got a 4X81 Light with a "post" in very good condition if you are interested.
  11. Like the sound of the clitori - Used one for years. They help you swing and prevent you from poking, but don't drop it in the bush or you will have to get on your nees to find it again. (But that can also be fun)
  12. Hi Gubby UK I will dig out some pics for you - where do you want them sent?
  13. Hi - I'm looking for an Escort Camo 3" and have a Browning Semi - Auto .22lr scoped and moderated which I rarely use. Regards. - T.
