  1. I haven't owned one,but have used a 28" one at a clay meet,I used 24 grm carts with no real kick and i tried some 28's too, personally the kick wasn't noticably different to the sporter I was using at the time. I'd like one if I had money,I'd trade my SP" S" in for one in an instant if the trade in was right.
  2. is this primarily a Trap/clays gun?
  3. did you look at the Beretta A400 before buying the Maxus?.I've tried them both but not at the same time if you know what I mean,i fancy the 26" barrels,30" must be real long gun especially in the hide?
  4. i've got a Beretta SP "S" 30" fixed chokes the same as universal,I haven't seen a universal, but apart from maybe more basic engraving I can't see the difference,I think it's important to remember that the only stated difference between this gun and a 687 eell is wood and engraving, the actual metal/components and construction are of the same standard,so sounds like good quality for your money if you want new. A couple of my mates have old (15 year old plus) beretta's that retailed shop price of about £750,nice clean guns,I think that they are a better feel and better finish than the cheaper new beretta's as the new one are less hand finished more CNC'd, i wait to be corrected
  5. there don't seem to be many around,i gave up on the syndicate i was shooting on the isle of sheppy due to several visits and sometimes I wouldn't see a single bird for 2-3 visits, then I joined one local to Ashford,I saw plenty of flocks of upto a 1000,I went out early this mornig,7a.m-12 noon and I shot 1 and saw only about 15 in total. They have to eat,so I can only conclude that they have moved on,maybe Europe?even if they break up into pairs they should still be visible even if they are not using the flight lines they normally use, or decoying in any numbers, they should be in the sky but I saw none at all.
  6. i alway keep about 5 dead pigeons in the freezer,2 for the rotary and 3 for thefloaters, works well for me
  7. If what you say is true, thenthis is an even worse tradity as it could have been prevented at several points,i'm just shocked and feel for everyone affected in the local areas
  8. I think it's fair to assume he has a licience, otherwise an illigal gun would be a pistol not a rifle with scopes and by the discription orf the lenght may be mopderated too.I don't think they will ban shotties or rifles, but looking at the amount of people that look like they have an arsnal of guns, like me,with 3 shotties and there are some with loads of guns you may see the goverment limit the amount of guns and types held, they have to be seen to do something
  9. I've ridden one of those, nice fast road bike, but for me the RC30 was the Honda.I owned one for 2 years, now that was a bike... the SP2 though is a superb bike.I got a Buell now, customised to look like a '60's Cafe Racer.
  10. a good gunsmith can bend your stock to a left hander no problems for £35~40,get one that is straightish then have it fitted,or buy a semi auto as they come with adjustable shims to convert to a left hander
  11. i'm tall and slim and Beretta's fit me,I was told(after i bought the Browning) that shorter more solid then browning, tall and slimmer then Beretta, that how it's panned out with all the approx 15 guys I shoot with generally,as for the ultralite it didn't recoil much with me at all,but i generally use 21 or 24 grams for clays and normally only shoot 50~70 sporting clays twice a month,if you was heavily into clays you would be better with a sporter or clay gun,and 28~32 grms for pigeons.
  12. Being fairly new to this myself,my advice would be that if you have any friends with guns try and go out with them as much as possible and most will let you use their guns, don't just fire a couple of carts but get the feel of it,try different makes, barrel lenghts, and types e.g game, sporters or clay guns,if you plan on clay shooting mainly then a clay gun or sporter,if your going to shoot pigeons mainly game or sporters, then semi'auto's have their place too.there is also fixed chokes and multichokes(most people stick one set of chokes in then leave them along, but multichokes are a little more barrel heavy).Don't rush out to buy a gun as you may discover that you would have prefered the gun in a different format, i bought a browning 525 sporter 30" multichoke, traded it for a beretta s/p 30" fixed choke game, but really now wish I'd bought the beretta ultralight 28"game that was lent to me to try out, loved it.My franchi 28" semi i would now like a Benneli 26" M2 in camo,or an Beretta A400 26" for pigoen shooting,so I have all these guns but now wish i had the ones that i've worked out feel better for me,All the guns i have are really nice ,but I feel I now have a clearer idea of what feels right.I wasted lots of money as I've worked it out,so take your time. once yo ubuy your gun, don't go to a gun shop again as they are addictive
  13. i ate one on Thursday last week, was lovely,I wish they ate garlic then they would be just right
  14. my friend has a Hatsan and loves it,it recycles down to 24 grams no problems and hasn't jammed once,we mainly shoot together and he's pretty deadly with it too,he's left handed and they do one that ejects on the L/H side, although the carts leave so fast either side isn't a problem.I've read a few threads and it seems that the quality has improved on later models so consider a new one or virtually new.
  15. ran a few thru my franci,no jams
  16. i'm with you on that,i think that they do shoot low, even though when i pattern it ,it seems to cover the marker, when i've shot it i'm told I'm always shooting low, even with a comb raiser,I laid my berretta on it's rib and compared it tp the franchi, the shape of the stock and the top sectioon is the same/mirrors as the beretta except that it's about 3/4 inch lower, when I offer it up it feels right and the sight down the rib looks about right,I've decided to stick to the beretta as i'm fast losing confidence.lessons aren't helping eith er,it's probably just me
  17. i don't lnow much about this but a lot of guns seem to be fixed at 1/4 and 1/2,that might be worth it for closer quarry?
  18. yup I've put 24 through to 32 since I got it,not a single jam, went out with the silver pigeon and shoot better
  19. well I might sell mine if your're interested
