tax funding private companies, do you mean like the Railways, Nuclear power etc.etc.what money “required by the contract”? Whichever way you slice this the customer has to pay in the end, the price we have been charged has been to low since privatisation and it just wont allow the level of infrastructure investment required. Investors just loan money, they expect a return. It’ just like when someone takes a car loan, the bank wants the money back with interest, if they think it is not a safe investment they won’t loan you the money and the car stays on the forecourt…
I’d also like to think that Public ownership means the shareholders get nothing, but thats not what will happen. The damage to the Pension funds would be massive, then the pension shortfall has to be covered and that’ll be us tax payers..
We should strive for a reasonable balance maybe, but not here. Boom and Bust!

Maybe his reason will come out in the court report ?. otherwise you will never know what made him do it
Yep, by the time the CPS and others have decided to go ahead it will all have been largely forgotten, as is the usual way?

It is a quantum leap in logic to suggest that Russia is behind anti-immigration feelings.
Perhaps it could be people reacting to increases in crime - both petty and serious. Perhaps people see the homeless out on the street, whilst seeing illegals put up in hotels, but demanding houses.
Perhaps they weary of seeing the Navy or RNLI welcoming rubber dinghies, which seem to be mainly young males, with mobile phones. Perhaps they read of the massive increase in gun crime in Sweden and worry that could happen here - as if it isn't happening already. Overrun NHS services - I suppose that is down to Russia too.
Blaming Russia, who are hardly squeaky clean, is simplistic rubbish.
Sadly true?

I would imagine if Sunak does bail them out it’ll be the final nail in the Tory coffin.A PR dream for Labour, if Starmer doesn’t capitalise on it then he’s a bigger idiot that people claim.
“UK tax payer subsidised private companies while at working families can’t pay their bills or feed their kids”.
TBH, what incentive is there for any persuasion to give a rats rear? The same 5 star lifestyle is available whether in or out of power, all by their design enabling the continuation of living the dream?

I bet there are a few "Lloyd's names" with twitchy rears?

Just the unbalanced way it is?
The politicos have to look after their sponsors first?

Fines can not come from ‘operating’ money, so not customers paying at the time of the fine being levied…. But you can bet they pay in the future.
That's the real beauty of the current set ups, customers always pay? Firstly for some form of service then for every event from then onwards. Good or bad the customer always foots the bills?

yep, they (the shareholders) are on the ball when it comes to payout time but not so much when it comes to investment in the infrastructure.

I would put good money on the bridge having regular inspections. But it was NEVER going to win a fight with a ship of that size and more importantly WEIGHT.
As said possibly down to the initial impact point which looked like the bow taking out the metal pylon above the solid footings?

Basically precision shooting from multiple positions and resting on obstacles etc. currently I've done targets from 15-100m in range .. it's very new to me. So realistically looking for a scope that is MOA and would have Christmas tree style reticle
Precision Rifle Shooting (PRS) is a popular and growing shooting style which involves hitting a sequence of metal targets at varying distances, shooting from multiple supported and unsupported positions
PRS Competitions can feature targets typically 10-30cm in diameter, (yet the ones I was shooting at were as small as 5cm)
In addition to the variety of targets, there will be different ‘prop’ layouts on the firing point, which aim to offer diversity and challenge to each shooter
Thanks, what do you see as the maximum distance fired at ?

Maybe look up Nathan Foster at Terminal Ballistics Research, Taranaki New Zealand?

I am thinking of converting an under stairs area into a toilet. With the difference in ground levels a macerator will be required. I have been looking at different ones and the reviews and thought that I'd ask are there any to avoid? Are any brands better than others please 🙏

Another disappointing outing here, saw 1 fleetingly on way into location which just disappeared.
Then saw 1 about 2 hours later acting like a lib dim MP on steroids casing a lone voter finally ending up after 10 minutes hidden in a Laurel bush?

This is a short term strategy. It’s the same as letting the supermarkets and internet suppliers dominate our shopping habits. Cheap at first, kill the competition then it’s pay back. Our farmland will no longer be for producing food but will be very profitable for those involved in carbon offset etc, it’s a modern land grab. Why not fast forward and let the likes of Bill Gates and his friends produce our sustenance in their labs! We know it makes sense for the planet. 😏
Very insightful.
