Hi all,
Ok. I would like to pick your respective brains on this one if i may. I have been looking at tuning kits for my BSA Meteor (Mark 3 perhaps). Whilst having a look around at the various kits and components, i came across a friction washer & piston head weight kit. If i have done my research, you have a piston weight plus nylon washer in front or, a top hat; nylon again. My question is this? What effect do they have on gun performance? Especially the Piston Weight. Would it be beneficial do you think to machine down the piston crown - thereby giving a longer stroke & more 'swept volume'? I would like to leave a change of main spring - uprated at least as a last resort. I have read that a nice gun can be ruined by aftermarket springs alone, & want to fine tune the gun before i go down this route. I am after the maximum Practical (read usable) power whilst retaining good characteristic's. The sweetness as it were.
Any idea's my friends?
Best regards, Steve.
P.S. Re: Some other post i have read on here - I am fully aware of the 12lb limit and believe me i am not looking to turn this into balls out piece of rubbish. Practical to me means the most useable / effective power i can achieve.
