  1. If you have an iPhone or iPad “splice” gets some fairly decent reviews! you get a few days free but then after that you have to pay!
  2. Sadly there are few which give you all the options and some even stamp the video which can be quite annoying. Windows USED to have movie maker? I had a few disks of movie editing programs but non work with the new systems. many purport to be freeware on web searches, but are infected with bugs etc. So be wary. I have a basic one on the laptop at home so will see what it’s called when I get home from work for you. If you have an iPhone or iPad “splice” gets some fairly decent reviews!
  3. Can you not broaden your horizon by finding any PCP with a decent volume air chamber and having it dialled up? Just a thought!
  4. Happy new year! ironic it’s 2020, and already I am blind drunk!
  5. My toes swell to the point you think the skin will burst open, bright red to crimson red and shiny. You can’t bend the toes, it’s an excruciating experience trying to get even a sock on let alone a shoe. Bed sheets feels like someone has your toe in a vice. Takes days to subside. I have had to go to work with it three times now and driving is bloody awful. Hard sole boots are needed to drive as if your toes bend when pushing the brake, you run the risk of crashing. I kid you not! Your instinct is to lift off and relieve the pain. putting boots on is damn near impossible. I elevate my foot and put on an ice pack. No meds just time and rest.
  6. Well Dads final radiation treatment was the 23rd. After a awful year we’re all hoping this year coming will be a much better one than last. Just before Christmas my Sisters partners mother passed away, so now she has had mum AND his mums funerals to attend and deal with. She is now paranoid as her daughter just flew out to Dubai to see her dad. She is a nervous wreck and worried about everything. On top of that we now have to wait three month to find out if dads treatment has been successful. I am really looking forward to seeing the backside of this year as it disappear into the mists of time. I am going to see if I can sort out a few trips away this coming year with Jacki, She has been so amazing and really helped me through it ! “As have you guys” and am also going to see about getting dad away somewhere on holiday too even if only for one week. He spent Christmas on his own (his own wishes) to try and get over it. So this year will hopefully have good news, and allow us to move on, and make some new happy memories!
  7. Some folk should never be allowed to own them. I was in Morpeth today coming out of home bargains, a bloke walks past, kids in tow with a lovely border collie. The dog walked into his path and made him stumble a little. He called the dog worse than ****, the the ****** kicked the dog after he was confronted for his action, he said “ do what I want, it’s my durg” should have been taken around back and treat like his dog.
  8. It’s really easy for me! Chris buys me nothing anyway
  9. I watched my nan fade away with dementia, and always said in one respect is could be a kindness. When you forget a partner, loved ones etc, surely it is a relief for them? To sit in a home thinking of how the family have left them in the care of others must be really heartbreaking! Watching your husband or wife leaving you each day and maybe not returning for days. No tenderness or holding you through the night! No intimate moments etc. It would break my heart. But when nan was slipping, she forgot about pretty much everything after the war! She would hear an aircraft buzzing overhead and chirp happily “that’s our boys coming home safely” nan lived in bucks until retirement, worked at Bletchley during the war and was a civil servant until she retired! very good with her money and keeping paperwork. When she retired she had a bungalow built to her own design in Huttoft lincs. We used to visit her as children and she was a doting loving grandma. When she ended up in a home, dad would drive down once a fortnight from Newcastle to visit and see his sister who lived in saltfleet too. When nans dementia really took hold she didn’t recognise her husband, “my dads step father” nor my dad or us kids. It was heartbreaking trying to break through to her. The day she passed away she was lay in bed and had a brief moment of clarity. She smiled at dad and gave his hand a squeeze. Then slipped back to sleep. Dad read to her as she lay there for hours. Then dad went out for a cuppa and not long after my grandpa “dads step dad” came to him and said “she has gone!” I had never seen my dad cry before that. That in itself was bad enough. But in the years she was there I think it was a blessing she had lost the memories to associate dad, us, grandpa as being her family. I think that in itself possibly made it easier for her to carry on her life in there. recently dads sister passed away and I think the realisation that dad is the last of them hit home! He choked back the tears trying to be strong, but when the coffin cane into the church he snapped like a twig in a storm! Then in August when mum passed he had a few moments but more controlled than before. I gave him a huge hug and told him how much us kids loved him. He spent Christmas on his own as it’s the first without mum. But now we’re noticing dad may be showing signs of early dementia. Forgetful, can be nasty to others, confused etc so we need to keep an eye on him.
  10. Merry Christmas to you all. A reflective day this year, dad isn’t wanting visitors until tomorrow, my brother and one of my sister have took to Facebook spilling their hearts out, and I have not done as much as I would normally have done! But I am still here, have my health and will try to enjoy the festivities. I have been invited out for lunch and took the offer so no washing up “bonus” and I am off work now until Saturday. I feel a little guilty as I didn’t have the heart to wrap Chris’ presents this year, but did buy some for him. He is a great kid and am certain he will understand. Wishing all of the PW clan “with us or not” a very merry Christmas! May god and your kin be kind to you for the following year
  11. My dad had a video clip of an old Electric lightning iirc in full burn after take off going vertical. That thing disappeared faster than anything I can remember. The G’s must have been amazing doing that!
  12. That’s still a turkey for Christmas
  13. Wanting alright! Wanting more funding, equipment and credit!
  14. Even £5k would be life changing to the like of myself! I would be mortified to lose that!
  15. Doh It appears it was once plated and the plating is so badly worn off very little remains! I think polishing will remove what is left and make it look better in my humble opinion! Will see what can be done with it. For what it cost it’s no biggy figgy I just want to see about getting it working and useable. I have a ultrasonic cleaner and use a generic solution bought on tinterweb and it does a fairly good job at shifting grime.
  16. Finally arrived today! gave it a quick look over, seems the main spring has snapped or came away from the arbor. Has two service marks in the back 70 and 73 so maybe a 60s watch. The movement is a basic one jewel Swiss movement akin to the roskopf style. Should still offer good service one it’s repaired and serviced. You will see what I mean with regard to the wonder position. I will have the case polished up and a dark blue leather strap me thinks! 🤔
  17. Sadly Ant, the only land I have is 30’ x 12’ and adjoined to the back of the house! If you want to give it a once over your welcome, but I guess all you will find is rusty nails, motorcycle parts and a few pounds of lead perhaps!

    Dysons

I have had multiple dysons, always been fantastic! They simply need the filters regularly cleansed. Many folk think you just need to empty the vacuum, and not keep the filters clean..
  19. I purchased a strange one yesterday and wondered if anyone can shed some light? it’s VERY similar in look to a Seiko auto with the crown at the 4:30 position. The dial is apparently branded HOMER but having run circles online I can only come up with reference to Citizen which it is not? the crown setting is why I bought it as I do like the unusual look “Seiko style” it didn’t cost the earth as it needs TLC but the case, and back look in very good condition. once I take possession I can upload a pic as sadly the pics I was shown are not the best to get a good look at the dial. thanks.
  20. Cheers! Will see what I can do with the variable voltage switch thingy! If all else fails I will see if I can retrofit another motor and gearbox somehow!
  21. Had similar waiting for some parts for my sons computer! Said they ha attempted delivery, so sent them the CCTV footage of the time they claimed and they then said it would be out on another van later that day! That never arrived until the following morning! Useless.
