Bit of a colourful character

Sadly due to working in retail, losing mum, and dad being diagnosed with Cancer, I have lost a lot of interest in Christmas. its not the same without Mum. Also having to deal with high volumes of cheap Chinese trash flooding into my warehouse, having no space to move, no staff to work the delivery, and working for a company of such ineptitude, it’s a drain on my mental state.. busiest time of the year, we need the stock out for customers, running on a skeleton crew, then head office tell us they want a £1800 saving in wages last week. Sent home staff and then complain the work isn’t getting done? My heart sunk on Monday morning when I walked into the warehouse to find space for 8 pallets of stock, having 48 booked in before 12 mid day. luckily for me, this year is the first since I started there that I have Christmas Eve, Christmas Day AND Boxing Day off. I will not be doing any extra shifts either. its now I realise how bad it is for nurses, police, fire crews, coast guard, military etc!

Reducing speed of a 3v - 4.5v motor!
Lord Geordie replied to Lord Geordie's topic in Craft and DIY Section
Thanks, found one for under £1.12 so took a punt on that. Never heard anything like this motor. I greased the gears in the small gearbox but the racket it makes is so loud it drowns out the music. The motor is far too fast for the intended purpose. I have a few other slow geared motors, but they will not retrofit due to their layout. The only option is to slow the existing motor down. Should be interesting playing with the speed controller. -
Reducing speed of a 3v - 4.5v motor!

Can’t lower the voltage at source as it also powers a PCB which controls LED, and music. I believe the only way is to tap into the motor feed post PCB. I had thought about a resistor but that will also affect torque. Hence the PWM controller idea. -
Guys I have been given the task of repairing a Christmas decoration! It’s a rotating tree that plays music and the lights flash. It’s rotated by a small 3v or so motor which is geared through a worm drive system. It’s currently turning so fast it almost thrown the decorations off the damn tree! It’s more spin dryer than calming tree! Can I simply for a PWM controller between the power feed and the motor? thanks

Another thing to check, if she has a combi boiler vented through the roof, check the flue. It may not be secured correctly and started to leak inside the roof space!

Horrific for the lads family. Hope they get the driver!

That looks fab. Hope everything goes swiftly with your recovery!

Congratulations to you both! I hope all goes well with the pregnancy and baby arrives healthy

I would say it’s more down to infection, toes caught in between objects such as brickwork, cracked tiles, or in anti bird netting etc. The fact they spend the night knee deep in their own **** won’t help either! It won’t help them grow back.

Hope it’s simply a once in a lifetime incident matey! Think with your luck and mine we must be related some how!! Hope the doctors give you the all clear soon. Not nice having to sit the season out.

Lucky you will be a chronometer no doubt as they needed the accuracy for navigation. Black dial? The back is similar to my Jäger le couture with the 10 sides. what I find fascinating is it has pins for the strap? My Avia from the same era has lugs. I don’t know when they started using pins but tat has peaked my interest to look into it well worth sending it away to be serviced and get a nice leather strap on it even if you don’t use it. The sad part it many ladies watches are not as desirable as gents? I find ladies tend to want it as a fashion accessory rather than collectible as men do. I have a few ladies watches that I couldn’t even give away granted, mainly quartz!

I watched a video bigging the phone up against the latest iPhone etc! Then read actual reviews that say it’s far from the truth. While it may be about right for the money a lot of features are not up to the hype!

Ok I know old lower grade watches are not everyone’s cup of tea! But today I found a chap selling 7 watches for £25 as a lot. I took the gamble as I have just been paid and drove to Bishop Auckland to collect them. 4 men’s 3 of which are 17 jewel mechanical movements. One quartz tatty thing for the spares box. And three ladies again two 17 jewel movements and one Seiko quartz. It didn’t dawn on me at first, but there is actually a matching set of his and hers Montine watches. I have to say they are both keeping impeccable time as is the gents Bifora. Sadly the Omnia is gaining 15 mins for every hour so possibly a damaged hairspring. But non the less a nice piece. More to add to the ever increasing collection

He is 76 so a good run really without major health issues I guess

Well his PET scan results are conclusive. He has Cancer in both lungs! They are looking to start him on a course of Radiotherapy over the next few weeks. He is perfectly OK with the findings and is not letting it get to him. Can’t say it’s not getting to me though. So over the next few weeks he will be in and out of hospital for the duration of the treatment. He will be really tired no doubt so will have to keep a close eye on him. Specialists seem confident it’s in an early enough stage to get it sorted so we have a lot to be thankful for.

Rather like the aluminium being pronounced aloominum ? what made me laugh was the guy who was chatting with a foreign tourist in the USA and asked the visitor “don’t you speak American”?

Sounds like a very nice selection does that!
