Just spoken to Jackie Martin is doing a few laps each day round the perimeter of the hospital grounds and not using a stick so Dave if you could thank who ever it was that was going to send him a thumb stick at the moment he's not using any aids.. Latest update from Jackie Martin is starting to write things down but not sure if he is copying from something or spelling words himself . Martin is continuing to do well the hospital say he should be home by the middle of October and manage independently , his speech and memory still require a little support but I’m confident that will get there with that also. Just checked my bank and the payment for the iPad has gone out so should receive it in the next few days..

Had an e-mail last week to say i had not paid my TV licence and if not paid in certain time they would put in the hands of bailiffs to collect.. i pay monthly DD so just deleted it didn't even bother to reply..

Latest update from Jackie Went to visit Martin on Friday he is doing well with his mobility he walked me along the corridor then outside across the car park so he could say hello to my son all without a stick to help him Tuesday part of his iPad arrived the magic keyboard with in the next 3 weeks the iPad itself should arrive when its all here i will set it up and take some photo's and post on site so you can all see the results of the collection. Then it will be a trip up to Newcastle to deliver to Jackie and she can give to Martin would like a video of that but not going any where near Martin till he has got over this generous gift.. Will keep you updated as i get messages from Jackie..

From what i have been told the police came and removed his guns left no receipt or anything they also took his reloading gear.. As for that being destroyed that was what Jackie was told from Martins son Chris true or not i don't know.. After Jackie became his first contact the family told the police not to sell his guns but to store them

You don't have to be an rfd to hold reloading gear for shotguns nothing is on ticket they did a similar thing with a lad from Billingham took his guns and reloading gear they even lost the keys to his 2 safes cost them a bomb when he was acquitted without even going to court.. they had to buy him new gun safes reloading machine the works.. They even took a sack full of coal dust that he had collected from the local beach stating it was gunpowder nearly wet myself laughing when he told me they were a bit red-faced when it was returned...

latest news from Jackie.. Hi the visit went well with Martin todayhe was walking without anything to help him he is so happy , and of course I am also was great to see him xSpoke to chris today also regarding the firearms he said the family decided to tell police to store them rather than sell once I became martins next of kin , he said the police destroyed the loading equipment only as far as he knows.. They had no right to do that it has nothing to do with his certificates .....

we had better hurry then just got this from..Jackie Martin has had a goal assessment meeting today it went well Martin says he wants to be home in three months and go out to the pub , meet his friends , walk outside , and go fishing and shooting , there his goals which are very realistic , occupational therapist is meeting me at martins home address to look into having an additional hand rail fitted for him using stairs and equipment to help him in and out the bath , everyone is really happy with his progress , would be good to have him back home x wait till he sees that his guns have gone

Well had a good long talk with Jackie this afternoon see does not want to take on power of attorney she does not want to cause trouble with the family..A attached letter stating this iPad belongs to martin and Jackie ..would be the way to go.... She has a meeting on the 10th with Martin and the hospital to sort out visiting rights Jackie is the only person Martin has asked to see... so its down to our idea of getting the iPad engraved so only Martin & Jackie have access to it...she said he seems to be making out ok with the nursing staff... they love his attitude to life and he has made some good friends among the staff.....

Will speak to Jackie tomorrow 2nd /7 about power of attorney Ditchy he has no idea what we have been up to...

Just received this latest reports from Jackie about Martin..... a few days ago ........Yes he mentioned lager yesterday he still has his sense of humour he is really funny the staff are getting to know him and say he is lovely he wants to do things himself he is so independentToday, 15:20 Hello Martin is still doing well he is so happy that the visiting is starting up again one visitor per week by appointment only Martin gets to say and he chose me this time but can change weekly if he wants to see others , social worker wants me to be the power of attorney but unsure about that at the moment Now he is allowed visitors it would be a good time to get the i pad or what ever to him ..... your thoughts on this .......

Years ago when i used to fly fish for seatrout on the river Weir near Bishop Auckland one pool was hell for mosquitoes, i used to soak the peak of my fishing cap with old spice after shave never got bothered at all.. Good thing about it i used to have this particular pool all to myself no body else would fish it because of the mosquitoes

got this message about Martin yesterday from Jackie latest details.... Hi mike Martin can now have proper meals and drinks , he is doing well . He is now at Walkergate Park went there yesterday but seems I’m back to square one I phoned to ask how he had settled in but there is a password in place which I presume his sister set up so I obviously don’t have it and hospital said phone back when you have it she was quite blunt , hopefully I will be able to have contact again at some point x Walkergate Park is a place for rehab so everything is going the right way.. Dave need to start shopping for his iPad are you doing it what's your thoughts on this.. today just got latest message from Jackie..
