    New small business

Excellent advice gents, thank you so much. It just so happens that I ordered 250 business cards last night haha typical. Grrclark, I’ll work on the elevator pitch and get back to you!

I’ve stolen that, thank you! I intend to buy some more as and when funds allow, currently I’m on 30 day net payment terms with most and I’m waiting on invoice payments. thanks everyone, my lack of experience in actually marketing a business it’s what’s difficult. Like has been suggested, getting someone like a student etc on board for half a day a week may be the way forward until I get on top of cash flow!

    New small business

Thanks for the input. My domain name is www.byrkley.com. I built the website using squarespace because I am currently very time poor (could be worse things to complain about than being busy!) and it’s especially easy to do on there I have already incorporated and chosen the name so changing the spelling is not an option. I appreciate what you’re saying and I thought the same thing when I came up with it. When spoke to my accountant he offered me some business advice and said not to worry about the business name, the ‘tag line’ and branding is more important.

My main area of business is the repair of waste and recycling equipment which involves all of the above.

    New small business

Appreciate the replies. I have started to set up a website, bought a .com domain and set up a Facebook page, never used LinkedIn but have set up a page yesterday. Time is my biggest constraint currently. My business is generally B2B so I didn’t know if it would be worth advertising in local rags and mags. I have ZERO experience when it comes to marketing and it’s a huge flaw! edit: I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post links to my site etc on here, not been in the Forums for a while - Byrkley ltd will generate results on Facebook
  7. I recently incorporated my first business after a period of self employment. does anyone have any tips on pushing to get more work, is it a case of approaching companies and straight up asking them? Current customers have all come off the back of referrals from friends and contacts. Most are generally long term repeat customers but only have little amounts of work and I’m pretty keen on taking someone on to earn a bit more! I deal with Waste and Recycling equipment, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical engineering and welding and fabrication. SSS
  8. I didn't realise how much hedgehog poo smells until Teal finds some and has a roll in it! It seems socks are a hot find for a lot of dogs.
  9. I've been thinking about making a Christmas wreath from all of the Holly leaves she brings. My old bitch used to like teddy bears of any shape or form. As long as she had her teddy then she was happy. She used to like them smelly, the dirtier and smellier the better, she was never chuffed after they'd been washed.
  10. Are these suitable for strapping to an air rifle for a bit of ratting?
  11. I had forgotten but you've reminded me, I had a LED lenser but I can't recall packing it when I moved house. It had the adjustable beam but started to fail on the connections in the rear of the battery compartment. Having said that, I'd probably buy another.
  12. Unbearably busy at work, moved house, got married and been on my honeymoon. Not been on here for quite some time really.
  13. Absolutely fine. If it's covered then no problem at all
  14. Its around 25 metres long mate, I'd need a few!
  15. I can vouch for Tatenhill aviation. I live less than a mile away from there and flew with them early this year. They let me take off and land and everything in between. Well worth the money
  16. Can't imagine they'd be very warm either!
  17. I'm after a little torch for when I let the dog out in the garden at night, LED/CREE (so that it doesn't go flat before the dog's done her business), preferably with an adjustable beam and up to £30 in price. Rechargeable and with batteries that don't cost the earth or at least come included, not too big and clumsy. Would also prefer to be able to use it for a bit of close range (<30 yards) air rifle ratting. Does an all rounder like this exist? What would you recommend? SSS
  18. Can anyone clear up for me what I can and can't buy in terms of rat poison? I was under the impression that i could buy up to a certain weight (1.5KG?) but i asked in the local country store today and they said i can't buy any 'decent' poison without a farm assurance number or relevant qualifications, only more hobby-type stuff that happens to be a load of ****. Is there a free training course available or any alternatives? SSS
  19. Glad its not just mine. She seems to be developing a love for balls as well. Its a recent thing but i can't discourage her bringing me things out of the kindness of her heart can I?
  20. This is my 8 month old bitch with her obsession, bringing me Holly leaves. Who else has a dog with a daft habit? (Edit to make photo embed fit better)
  21. House training, chewing plasterboard, digging holes in the carpet etc etc
  22. Me and missus SSS picked our pup yesterday after losing our old Lab just before Christmas. I'd like everyone to meet Honeys Anthracite Teal, or Teal for short. She settled well, no crying at all on her first night and only 1 accident in the house so far. Now to start most basic of training and getting rid of puppy habits.
