  1. When i started reloading I was given loads of cci clay busters, my friend told me they are cheddites but they are nothing like cheddites, the base wad is virtually identical to the rio's!!
  2. Looks like a good crimp, i shoot clays through the summer so i might get some fiochhis and reload the hulls for pheasant/pigeon etc! Rio hulls crimp really well if you ever get them! What machine are you using from crimping?
  3. Brin I would be very interested in knowing how you do it, i want to drop no 6-5 shot for reloading this summer! any info would really be appreciated!!
  4. I have never seen fiocchi for sale in the uk if you find any I'm looking as well! I have a 32grm load for pheasants for fiocchis i want to play about with! Are the black golds the gordon system? i read somewhere they should not be reloaded, I'll see if i can find the link! I found that surprising but never researched it further!
  5. Not a bad point but on another forum you can fire in a quick complaint about this http://www.pcc.org.uk/complaints/makingacomplaint.html They have a standard complaint you can send in a few quick minutes http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101584
  6. I wish I was closer! thats pretty good going by the sounds of it!
  7. The rio blue steel are a good duck load, I was sceptical about shop bought steel as I load my own but i took a couple of boxes of these to try, and they knocked some decent range ducks down which i was quite impressed with! I wouldnt use 2 3/4 steel on geese though, as above, hevi shot, tungsten or bismuth would be my choice, they are expensive but if you only need a pocket full for the odd goose then you are not going to shoot many! The lyalvale steel i found not to be that great, I bought 250 of them and didnt have good results so i put them through the gun at the clays to use them up. Whats a beretta ulrike proofed to?
  8. Alliant steel is good for some fast steel loads! I had some success with it, i have a wee book of decent data for steel using this powder!
  9. Must be something with Rio stockist, our local guy is like that as well, the price is what ever suits him on the day :-D
  10. I use the plastic wad no5 shot on pheasants, they are very good! When i took them to a new shoot the game keeper was raving about how good they were which speaks volumes for them! Plus the once fired hulls are perfect for reloading 1oz lightening fast steel for ducks! I have the data in an american manual!
  11. LOL thats what i thought, I didnt think it would be something that would be a hit a switch type thing and away you go, but i did think once it was set right it would eventually be a relibable way of getting shot! Is the only way todo it like you see on you tube with the pan and the little screw in bolt things?
  12. Has anyone seen shot for shotgun cartridges sucessfull dripped in real life and not you tube? is anyone here actually doing it? I would like to try this but need to know how much of a ball ache it is to get this up and running!
  13. Think your just getting old and grumpy Tam, did you get out the wrong side of bed?
  14. I would go with the first comment, we have 30kg feeders and they are a nightmare, most are hung from trees and are a bloody nightmare to get the lid off, plus they need filling constantly. Big steel oil drums free standing are the only way to go! plus I would paint them, mostly for camoflage from passers buy!
  15. There is a 30" apex in malmo guns, I was looking at it the other day, it is a cracker! I am holding out for a maxum, hopefully get one early 2013 to practice with for next season
  16. The hevishot is devastating but patterns very tight! I had loads of success with it, this double dip recession killed my funds for it though!!
  17. Has anyone cut one open? Would be interesting to see what wad etc they are using!!
  18. 36gram steel ones would do for foreshore ducks and geese, those eley lightenings would be a good shop bought choice! Does your max us not have the cartridge stop on it?
  19. The target weight of the original load was 36 grains but looking at other data for that weight of load in blue dot it runs upto 40grains, but this is with different hulls and wads than the ones i have! hence I was thinking on uping the powder on the original load I was given! The american wads I mentioned above were winchester and federals not fibre, I couldnt live with fibre!
  20. I have been reading the data, and most of the 1300fps loads in blue dot are running about 38 to 40 grains. This is in american hulls with american wads! I was thinking that I might load up a few batches running from 36 grains upto 38 grains in 0.5 grain increments, to see if i can get them near the speed I would like.
  21. The blue dot I have was relatively cheap so the cost is not a factor, I really just want to use it up whilst i research other loads. I hate having things lying about with not a huge amount of use!! I was told to try 36grain blue dot, chegdite hull, 36grms of lead and B&P24 (Steel) wad. the steel wad is one i use on wildfowling anyway so its a good load as I have most of the stuff readily available. However when I chronoed it, it was really slow. I have heard folk talking about working up a load which I would like todo with this one to get it up in speed, but I have never done this and would be sort of worried it would go pear shaped on me! I would be happy enough to drop to 34 or 35 grams of lead if this helped reduce the pressure with this wad and hull combination!
  22. I was on the alliant site but there is no info for cheddite hulls in that load going as quick as i would like! I would swap out to other powder in future once i have rid of this wee batch of blue dot I have!
  23. Im sure ARB do diff locker kits for the pathfinder if you really want to get in and out of the rough stuff!! they do look fantastic, I wish i could afford one!!
