  1. Johnston has done this his whole life from the Bullingdon days at Oxford to now. He is a brilliant communicator and knows it. In turn, he does whatever he wants, with zero regard for consequences, and the upmost confidence that should he be caught he can talk his way out of it! His whole life he has pushed his luck, and for the most of it, gotten away with it. But as an old man once told me, if you keep sticking your neck out eventually someone will cut it off!! Nearly everyone I know, in Lockdown no.1, stuck to the rules and treated the situation very seriously. I remember watching Governmental announcements and thinking this is like living through a war! To find out at the same time No.10 was holding a party not only undermines our efforts in history but makes us citizens, which treated it as our duty to follow these orders, look like absolute mugs!
  2. The law is simple. You have to demonstrate none lethal alternatives of crop protection have failed. There is loads of evidence to support this and anyone who has ever tried to keep pigeons off rape will know this all too well. Once this is demonstrated you can shoot the pigeons, and you do not have to be shooting them over the same field you are protecting. You can protect the crops by shooting them on the crops, on their way to the crops, returning from the crops, and even over stubbles to protect next years crops.
  3. In my experience any miss fire should be treated with caution but as long as the muzzle is pointing in a safe direction at all times I see little danger in extracting the round. A round outside the chamber is unlikely to cause serious harm to anything, and in my experience of hang fires, they go off within 3 seconds or not at all! And you do have to wonder, who and on what scientific basis came up with the three minute rule!
  4. They was on Fieldsports Britain the other day 😆
  5. Iv never blamed him, although he doesn’t help himself! But when people pay £80 of their hard earned money and this is what they get from BASC in return questions need to be asked!! For the record i renounced my membership 5 years ago and joined the GWCT. This footage only strengths my conviction that I did the right thing for our sport!
  6. I agree with your points there, and I have seen first hand on many occasions exactly what you are describing on big shoots. I still feel/hope the majority of the shooting fraternity still consists of working class men on small DIY syndicates.
  7. Hardly. I would say the marjory of working men have a budget of around £1,000 per year. The man was completely unprepared and unqualified for the role he was getting paid to do. His job was to represent shooting and BASC on a media platform. How can BASC expect us or the public to take them or their research seriously when they send this calibre of representative out into the field. He may be excellent at the office side of things, and that’s where he should stay until he’s had some lessons and more experience of game shooting. This isn’t to say shooting is an elite hobby for top shots only. Far from it, because they are not being paid to represent a shooting organisation. Like saying football is an elite hobby because I would expect a representative of FIFA attending an event to have sound knowledge and experience of the game of football.
  8. The camera man did his job. If he had rocked up and not held the camera steady and filmed it all out of focus he would be sacked. Im not blaming the man as per but BASC should have really given him some training or have sent someone who knew what they was doing!
  9. I have been slated many times on this forum for criticising BASC! Them criticisms haven’t aged well! Seemed a really nice bloke but was put far outside of his competencies by his employer. If this is best BASC can deliver then do you really want to rely on them for insurance or public representation on TV!! We desperately need something better!
  10. Out of interest which spotter do you have thats £100 and works out to 300 yards.
  11. I clearly put 'spoilers beware' in the caption. I have since updated the post to detail it again, but if people can’t be bothered to read titles and captions before clicking don’t blame me when you read something you don’t like!
  12. It says in the caption - Spoilers alert I made a point of putting it!!!! It says so in the caption!! I made a point of putting it!! Where abouts I couldn’t find a thread when I searched.
  13. Despite clearly detailing 'spoilers beware’ in the caption it seems people don’t bother reading it and then blame the OP for their oversight! so just to make sure. *****Spoiler Alert****** Just seen the lasted (or last) James Bond and wondering what everyone’s opinion is! Personally I thought the movie, as a indvidual movie was brilliant but........ it wasn’t James Bond. James Bond is suppose to be thrilling but the sort of viewing that middle class women can enjoy. Yes there’s some drama and killing but there’s also lots of fast driving, dinner suit wearing, cocktail drinking and all safe in knowledge James is going to beat the baddies. It's suppose to be classically British and rather romantic. This was anything but and far too deep and ‘jumpy' to be James Bond. The fact James dies at the end also sits rather heavy! There won’t be another Bond film in my opinion but there certainly will be a film call 007. I can just imagine them all sat in a room going how are we going to save the world, if only James Bond was here, and the current 007 stepping up to the job and pulling it off. And depending on what’s the most ‘in thing' when it comes to political correctness 007 may be a black man, black woman, gay man, transgender person, asexual person. No Time To Die marks the end of an era and sad loss in my opinion!
  14. So this is basically mine. I think there is a parts list in the second video I would however be tempted to build one using my smart phone if was to build another one. Im not sure how he gets to £100 but you should be able to do it cheaper by using a cheaper camera.
  15. Arguably you don’t wear a poppy for that reason, you wear a poppy to show respect to those who laid down their life. My Great Uncle wore the same poppy year on year, he was a frugal man, but very respecting to those who, of this generation, didn’t survive the war.
  16. Why don’t you try an easyhit bead before you go extreme!! This is exactly the right, and only way to shoot a shotgun well! When you’re catching a ball you don’t look at your hands! You look at the thing that’s moving, you know exactly where your hands are and the gun is an extension of your arms.
  17. Yes an they aren’t doing overruns any more either
  18. Build your own. I did and it works brilliantly. There are loads of DIY tutorials on Youtube.
  19. From which shop out of interest. Iv just paid £284 from a North Lincolnshire shop.
