  1. I have read the autobiographies of Albert Pierrepoint (well known hangman) and Syd Dernley (asst. hangman) and have formed the opinion that the British long drop system of execution (which dislocates the vertebrae) is a humane execution method. Other methods; 'American' style noose - strangulation & prolonged death; gas chamber - can be flawed & take too long, etc etc In terms of the argument against the death penalty, with regard to errors made, the argument falls flat after the flawed sentencing of Timothy Evans and Derek Bentley I voted Yes

    What a nice day

For the first time this year, I left home in the light (just about!) and came home in the light (just about!) Nice drive home, gave a colleague's daughter a lift home and all we talked about was the lovely late afternoon that it was.

Pass or not. There are a lot of good schools on the wirral. You'll be OK. It's one of the last areas in the NW to still have 11+
  9. Green house is more likely to come up on Freecycle. Small poly tunnels are not that common IMHO Have you considered making a large 'cold frame' with a large sheet of clear plastic? Otherwise grow some fruit & veg outside My daughter planted some 'alpine' strawberry seeds in the front garden, they have gone crazy and we regualarly top our ice cream with them in the summer months
  10. For several years I have been promising to myself that I will make some Nettle Beer. Is it really worth the hassle? Is it any good?
  11. Brian Plummer (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Plummer) wrote in a chaper of one of his books about eating fox, heron, badger etc But even he bottled out of eating rats

    firing pins

For a lot of guns that are either over a certain age or an obsolete make, gunsmiths will make firing pins from scratch. I had a pin made for my AYA and it only cost £18 fitted! (I had removed the stock and removed the broken pin) Ring around a few that are local to you and get a quote, they need to have a competent gunsmith on site and not offer to 'send it away' to have it made and fitted.
  13. Hi, my Diana Original Model 50E doesn't have scope rails. Is it still possible to fit a scope to it? Cheers

    long weekend

For something a bit different try Tallin, capital of Estonia. You might be able to fit in a day trip to Helsinki as well!!
  15. I am not sure if this is in the correct section. I have recently required a leather cartridge magazine case, the dividers are missing but the leather easing straps are intact. Are they worth anything??? Your thoughts appreciated
  16. After years of searching I have found a good one. And.. she has her own air-rifle! Spent Wed afternoon at a range I was re-setting her targets with my shots after she had dropped them with her shots. True love??
  17. Speaking as a Maths teacher, the pupils that I teach regularly ask me, "What is the point in this?" For brighter pupils I reason with them that they will need GCSE Maths to enter 6th form and Uni. For lower ability problems I point out that they need to show employers/college admission tutors that they have follwed an appropriate course in Maths. The content is prescribed by the government via the National Curriculum (which is long overdue to be reviewed IMHO) From my point of view more needs to be made of the 'functional' maths courses
  18. Hi, my mum has a Webley Excel for shooting rabbits and squirrels, could anyone recommend a mid price scope and mounts for it? I bought my air rifle with the scope attached, and i don't know a huge amount about choosing one. Cheers
  19. stihl husqvarna or sachs dolmar are all good makes i have a stihl ms170 for doing exactly what u r up to
  20. Depends what your budget is. I did a 5ft x 3.5ft trailer with a sheet of galvanised steel, very tough, but doesn't let the water drain out and can be a bit noisy when being towed. I am about to do another one in the Spring (I seem to have a lot of trailers) and will use reclaimed timber planks.
  21. Curried Goat (West Indian style, should never be called Goat Curry) My girlfriend does a wicked one in the slow cooker, mmmmm....
  22. I do this all the time when I teach Probability to a large class (about 28-30) It always works and always amazes the kids. (Oh mines 22 Feb)
  23. I paid £20 for one to be made and fitted (I had taken the stock off) I think that this was quite cheap though
  24. In last nights programme he went shooting with a tribe. What an array of weapons, ancient muzzle loaders circa 19th C right through to SBS 12g and all points in between.
