  1. I really enjoyed shooting with Mr P and co today, I will not mention that last stand apart from when I asked to have a couple extra shots I nailed them .... too little too late springs to mind and it could have cost me the class win .... But the lack of stale wee and werther’s originals was well like a breath of fresh air so not all bad ... I got a 2nd there a few shoots back and ended up with nothing, when we left today I was 2nd and looks like I will miss out again. It’s getting to the point where I might do birds only there, I don’t mind a small pay out or even just my entry back but you should always get something for 2nd in my books.
  2. wow that was a generous of [you] to make that donation ...... Luckily I first read this post as a guest on my phone and not logged in otherwise it would have got me hook line and sinker
  3. I had a 30” Browning Ultra XS adjustable for a few years before I bought my Berettas. Good points....well made & totally reliable. The ejectors on the Browning are far superior to the ones on the Berettas, never had a cart fail to eject properly, the Berettas seem weak in comparison. The extended Midas chokes weigh a bit and made the gun nose heavy compared to my Berettas, I went for some Briley ported chokes and this helped the balance as they were a lot lighter. The adjustable comb is very clever with just one screw to adjust everything but this can work loose so just check it’s tight every now and then. The butt plate is solid plastic and not to everyone’s taste, a bad mount on a driven bird and the corner of this can leave a bruise and it does seem to kick little more than my DT10 and 682 gold e. The Berettas also seem to shoot a little flatter. Having said that it was a fantastic gun that did me well, you will prefer the feel of one make over the other, as to which is best is purely subjective to the shooter.
  4. Nah my hiatus from A class happened last year when I developed an allergic reaction to the stale smell of wee and werthers originals brought on by the fact I could now smell things after giving up smoking. Now I have bought a Beretta nose peg and always stand up wind of you my scores are back in A class territory again. No I dont think you did, did I mention that Longridge will allow you to shoot birds only? Maybe we should take a trip down again? I remember getting an A class score there & I am sure if you ask them nicely they will put an extra class after C just for your score. :o
  5. Is this referring to me? Are you actively stalking me? Are you cheeeeting again by looking at the posts I am reading? After my Catton debacle I am going to buy a new gun, extended ported chokes, have my skeet vest fitted and move to Hull. I fancy it but I don't think I can spare the time off work as international man of mystery / playboy based in the Bury area.
  6. BSA 410 Beretta Silver Pigeon 20g Beretta 682 Gold E Beretta DT10
  7. God knows, I had a few drinks and a late night so am hoping it's that. Or maybe it was shooting with a birds only Muppet and his bent 3/8 choke. I shot the end of the shoot ok but I wanted to go home half way round. At least I picked up my winnings from last time so I did not have to pay for the shoot, that would have rubbed salt into the wound.
  8. http://www.avalon-guns.com/avalon/12-bore-beretta-chokes.html These have them in, not cheap though.
  9. I have see Anni shoot his chokes are all bent. 50% you say .......so youre hoping to make it into the seventies then.
  10. I have shot many comps where both clays are far out or both close in. On a modern sporting course there is no standard target set up. 1/4 will hit any clay I have seen on a normal course but I have more confidence in 3/8 at longer range and they will do the job close in as long as I am not sloppy. It's all about which set up gives you confidence. Go Into a stand thinking a certain choke will not do then don't be surprised when you miss. That's why quite a lot shoot with the same choke in both barrels it just removes one more thing from the thought process.
  11. Snap ........ I have shot 1/2 1/2 and 1/4 1/4..... on the very close in stuff as MC said no difference, on the mid range stuff 1/4 allowed me to be sloppy over the 1/2 but never gave me confidence in fantastic kills. On the far out stuff I hit them with 1/4 but when I was a bit out they were very 'clippy' and I had no idea which way to adjust, where as the 1/2 or 3/8 tend to give you and indication by taking an edge off and you can adjust. Now just stuck with 3/8 never change seems the best of both worlds to me. As to which barrel to put the 1/4 and 1/2 in its irrelevant on the sporting course as there is no guarantee the 2nd target will be further away than the first. But most set it up 1/4 bottom 1/2 top.
  12. I don't care but I do want to know what colour the underpants were and where do I buy a house made out of cocaine and hookers.
  13. Used to be loose in the bag, but I would lose count of how many I had shot the week before so have no idea if there was 100 in or not for a comp. so now leave them in the boxes & empty the boxes in my skeet vest.
  14. My mate had his fitted in the loft, FEO said if the loft floor was not boarded out to the cabinet she would not be allowed to go up and inspect it, also if the loft did not have easy access (built in loft ladder) they could refuse on the basis that its too awkward for him so he might be tempted to not use the cabinet as soon as he returned home from a shoot so have & his tea / shower first etc.. But his was approved.
  15. Not the done thing at all it's personal preference. Having had my gun hit by falling clays, numpties bang it with their barrels and long waits on stands where there is no safe place to leave a gun I take a slip. However if I on my own having a practice & no comp I will leave the slip in the car.
  16. There is also an offer on the internet at the moment for a Musto Lightweight Clay Shooting Vest rrp £95 and they are selling it for £45 just bought a Musto jacket from them...
  17. Snap caps look like small cartridges either plastic or metal and have a spring inside, they are used for dry firing the gun to release the tension on the trigger mechanism but stop damage to to firing pins or breach. As to weather you need then on a modern gun is subject to debate. I have a Beretta and have a Beretta bag, slip, hat and vest I really dont care what others think, they were a good price well made and look good. I think the fact they are old, a bit worn now and I can win my class stop the 'all the gear no idea' brigade. I dont like it when people have a go at someone just because they have nice stuff that matches but maybe are not that good at shooting or just starting out.
  18. That's because we are twice as good as the southerners.
  19. He has mates !!!!!! when did this happen ?? He would have been **** without my expert tuition to guide him along, I dont take him to feed the ducks at the duck pond today and his scores suffer.
  20. It will certainly be more advantageous viewing the clays from the car park than from over your shoulder you inept buffoon. REVISED TECHNICAL RULES For ENGLISH SPORTING VIEWING POINT 5.00 Any Competitor who has not had an opportunity to see targets on any stand, i.e. at the commencement of the competition each day, shall have the right to see one target from each trap for that stand from a position outside the stand. All Competitors should avail themselves of the opportunity to view targets whilst waiting their turn to shoot. Unless they are watching Chard shoot in which case they are entitled to see a pair again, access to free therapy & lessons off Phil Moss to correct the damage done by watching said Chard shoot.......
  21. From the CPSA rule book: TECHNICAL RULES For ENGLISH SPORTING VIEWING POINT 5.00 Any Competitor who has not had an opportunity to see targets on any stand, i.e. at the commencement of the competition each day, shall have the right to see one target from each trap for that stand from a position outside the stand. All Competitors should avail themselves of the opportunity to view targets whilst waiting their turn to shoot. So in essence the rule book is asking us to view the targets whilst others shoot, so anyone who regularly shoots CPSA competitions will come and look whilst the squad before them is shooting as that is what the rulebook is asking them to do. It is unfair to ask following shooters to view the targets from 20 ft away and to the left or right whilst your squad can stand next to the cage, hence why they come and stand behind. Also I am not viewing where you are shooting it to gain some kind of advantage I am looking where I am going to shoot it, which when watching Chard shoot is vital.
