Pigeon Watch North vs South Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot 2011

Well without the north V south I personally think it would have killed it stone dead. But I believe the problem is some people want it as a meet up and get drunk and some want to shoot it semi/very competitively. It sits uneasy with some that the readymade excuse we would have shot better / you only beat me because last night I had....... and because of this don’t want to travel / stay over but would attend if closer & less cost. I know with my deviant social life it’s a nice opportunity to stay sober one weekend. :yp: I feel it is a good idea to move it around the country for fairness, however Hodnet gave us a good turn out and quite balanced teams 38 north 36 south if Sporting Targets achieves the same or better then it was a good choice, if not then the idea of dropping the north V south in the first place would have been the right idea. I am going to attend but can understand why others won’t. -
I went to Catton today and shot with magman, magboy & chard. I ended up with an 84 which was 2nd in class when I left. I just dropped the odd ones and twos most of the way round with one disastrous stand. Very happy how I shot seeing as I have had a loss of form of late. I felt sorry for chard where one Muppet ruined his stand and messed his head up for the rest of the day. A word of warning don’t shout boo boo boo anywhere near chard from now on as you are liable to get punched.

Started with Judo as a kid and continued for quite some years, even got in the Rochdale Observer for wining a comp :-), I thought it was a great sport. At 16 did Muay Thai for a number of years. After putting myself in hospital for 6 months following a race crash at Cadwell Park I have done nothing for the last 12 years apart from a boxing comp 2 years ago organised by my friend (longsdale belt holder and fought for a world title no less) between 30 mates. After 3 rounds I thought my heart would explode, I won my first heat on points but refused to progress due to a bad case of unfititus/iamtoooldforthiscrap. Officially too old, unfit and too much metalwork in me now.

Yep but that's a problem, as a Northern bender I would not be allowed to share a room in the hotel and that would push up costs

I am from Manchester, I expect shooting on my doorstep, as well as the high street, the local bank and the off licence. I am up for it (date permitting) as long as the format appeals to me, North V South or something V something. I love the banter of a team event & it’s a bit too far to go just for a get together shoot for me.

Do they have a duck pond at Catton for you ? Well I forgot about Catton so reckon I fancy that one as I can stay in bed longer playing tents.

The legal requirements are an annual gas safety certificate, an Energy Performance Certificate on the property and you have to use a Tenancy deposit protection scheme. Also it’s a bit of a grey area but you are responsible for servicing the gas boiler / fire and there are aspects of this not covered in the standard gas safety check. It’s a grey area weather it needs doing yearly depending on who you talk to.

I know, I am deeply offended. If he thinks I am bringing round his werthers originals and taking him out to feed the ducks at Kegworth next week after that outburst, and to think I was going to buy him a new tartan travel blanket as well.

What is this 'getting' business granddad

I came down with a bad case of alcoholism affecting my ability to get out of bed.

Your mama..........I have been shooting 0.5 Years so I know what I am on about, I have links to prove it but I am at work so cannot post them, Mr Knobcock wrote a book on the subject called "You Know Nothing I Have Wrote a Book So I am Right". If you have a bad case of following Wind you should use Wind-eze tablets. Respect and tings El Macho

About this much "..............." give or take ".." depending if you are using a 20 or a 12 and are on full choke in the bottom barrel and skeet in the top. You also have to use maintained lead with a pull away flick whilst dimming an eye and use plastic fibre wads and 8.5 shot. regards El Macho

that's only because it will take you till Cornwall to actually stop your car from Magnifico warp factor 10.
-
Like all students it will take him another hour to get out of bed, then 6 hours to think about it, 2 hours for the obligatory protest and then the dog will of eaten it so no worry. Yep Nick we have El Magnifico so I figured I would be EL Macho

When can my kids start shooting?
timps replied to SquaddieGunner's topic in General Shooting Matters
I took my son at aged 9 with a single barrelled 410 on some very easy clays. I stood in the cage with him and reloaded so no problems on safety, but he really did not get the bug so let it drop. About 9 months ago aged 11 I tried again with a 20 bore, within three weeks he was on a 12 bore. He is bugging me to go every week now and doing very well at it. -
I want less to distract me so I don’t change chokes or mess with the barrel selector mid comp. For sporting I started off ½ ½ then changed to Hull cartridges which seemed to pattern tighter so dropped to ¼ ¼ now on Elye’s I feel happier with 3/8 3/8. I figured it was mostly in my head so I am sticking with 3/8 3/8 and now don’t change whatever the target or cartridge if I miss it’s me and I just deal with it (sometimes Badly ). I don’t change for any of the other disciplines whilst having a play but if I ever decided to shoot a registered skeet shoot then I might go back to ¼ ¼ for it.

Yep I am up for it
