  1. 7 yesterday, never seen so few on the drillings in this area. Hammy new total 8082
  2. We had two sightings on the Estate 20,00 acres, that we lease 1200acres on last week. And whilst up last night I sighted the first on our shoot (no gun with me) . We have a healthy population of Reds so we must do our utmost to thwart the Greys. What is the best method of trapping? And what is the best baits, I'm thinking tunnel traps etc, but have no experience killing these critters as we have never had them before. thx Hammy
  3. I did a dawn raid on Barley stubble Sat morning, 29 black ones and 22 Woodies in 2 hours, for 109 shots, it's obvious I haven't been out for a while . A really enjoyable couple of hours, and checked another field close by yesterday, it has some birds working......tomorrow morning me thinks  . New total 16,185. Hammy
  4. 4 whilst out on dawn raids at the crows on one of my farms, they were hammering a laid field of milky barly, Wed & Thurs morning, should be good fields for the Pigeons when they combine. 13,228 Hammy
  5. Interesting NTTF, what prevents protected or out of season species being caught in the Spring traps. ie Ducks or other bird life?? Hammy
  6. 12 Pigeons and 6 Crows in 4 hours in PM, missed a few though, moved on I guess, try again tomorrow!! Hammy
  7. After spending all day Monday and 100's of miles looking for Pigeons, to no avail, my mate has called with a barley drilling with Pigeon's on, checked it tonite, still on, so out for a lunch time start tomorrow, first time in ages, here's hoping, but everyone one is drilling at the moment so plenty of choice for them, not big numbers about this neck of the woods. Hammy
  8. No 0 Mepp in Gold or Silver & Blue.
  9. Well I decided to have a wander around one of my farms this morning with the Spaniel, had a great day and after shooting for 32years managed to bag a left and right at woodcock my first and probably last, what made it even more satisfying is the Spaniel managed to retrive the "left" forom a flast flowing river. Had a really satisfying day shot 5 Pheasants and 3 woodcock, unfortunately only my girlfriend witnessed the left and right so I shall not be eligable for the "Club", she came along for the walk. The other Woodcock was an absolute beaut of a shot, (sorry to brag) but it was just a very satisfying day. Many of you guys on here done the left and right????? Hammy

  14. I had my first day out on Sat, walking part of the boundry of my shoot with a few of the syndicate, we managed 9 Pheasants, 3 Teal, 1 mallard 3 Pigeons and a Pegged rabbit. Nice day, my birds are ready to shoot put down 1st week of July this year, wandering!! but looking grand. Saw a fox, need to get out with the lamp!! First day in the drives next week, hope it's dry with a bit of wind. Got a hold of another 350acres yesterday, nice ground, 7 smallish woods, a river and some good rashy ground, nice for a days rough shooting once a month. Oh and bordered by about 10,000acres of forestry which is full of Roe! hammy
  15. Where are you?? I see from your profile you are about 16 years of age, you may want to try and get some beating, you shall then be around likeminded people. You are unlikely to pick up shooting in the method you have tried, the answer to your question is, YES there is loads of shooting in SW Scotland. Hammy
  16. 1 for me on Sat morning during Crow session, ha ha , 55 black fellas though. Hammy
