  1. Our new addition to the family 'Dexter' - we pick him up in 3 weeks.....cannot wait!
  2. Thanks to those who posted up replies on this thread, as it got me looking at the rifle I have in greater detail. I think mine is quite early as it has the parallel egraved lines on the stock and a rounded grip like the top rifle in JohnBaz's first photo. The serial number is 23553. The trigger is also really curved and there is no scope rail. Any ideas on its age? I have the rifle fully stripped ready for a complete refurb but was wondering how best to deal with the stock in terms of trying to bring out the grain etc? Any advice would be very much appreciated. Also if anyone knows where I can get my hands on a rear sight? Cheers gents.
  3. Gentlemen, I've been given an old mk3 webley .22 which is need of much tlc. The stock is split and its missing the rear sight and generally needs a lot of attention. My Q. is, given the rifle will not be worth much even when fettled, does anyone have an old mk3 they would be prepared to part with or any spares (namely the read sight or stock) and prices for the same? I thank you.
  4. Forget beans, what you want is robber buttons!
  5. Lets not forget it was the British who invented the concentration camp.....
  6. Buffalo, Western Digital, Seagate, Iomega - all are good quality manufacturers who do decent USB connected external drives. Your only real choice is how big a drive you want? Personally I'd go minimum of 500mb and preferably 1Tb or more.....
  7. Black jacks and fruit salads!
  8. As has been stated by a few others, I would recommend you invest in a set of powerline adaptor such as: http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/products/powerline-and-coax/work-and-play/XAVNB2001.aspx Basically you connect the adaptor with the ethernet port into one of your home hub's network ports, plug the other 'wifi' adaptor into a socket where you want your wifi network to be extended to and away you go (though tinkering with their IP address settings can be fun if the defaults are static ones.) The 2nd/3rd gen powerline adaptors are now a mature technology so you should have no issues regarding signal loss. The other benefit is that you can buy further wifi adaptors and plug them into other rooms to extend the range of your network further should you wish. This plus encryption and the reasonable network speeds are all plus points in my book. If you want any setup help PM me.....
  9. Its £40 cheaper here..... http://www.pauls-angling-supplies.co.uk/camo-fishing-umbrella-carp-shelter-p-1139.html
  10. Anantech is a well respected tech review site, see below for the link to the Samsung Galaxy S II review and iPhone 4: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4686/samsung-galaxy-s-2-international-review-the-best-redefined http://www.anandtech.com/show/3794/the-iphone-4-review Personally, I prefer the Android based Samsung.
  11. Ziplex, until you get a replacement, the laptop is still your property. I would suggest telling yer man that you are going to get someone to try and recover your old personal data from the disc drive (it can be done using relevant software even on truly knackered discs) and therefore you want to retain the laptop/hard drive until such time as the replacement arrives. Best of luck.
  12. Brand names are one thing, but in all honesty its the hardware thats important. The first thing you need to decide is what do you mainly do with your laptop? If you ONLY web browse then a notebook will fit your needs but do not expect it to run applications like Microsoft Office (word, Excel etc) or any other software applications because the processor isn't grunty enough. Personally I would go for a laptop because you can do more with it. Then you need to decide which processor. AMD based laptops are generally cheaper but Intel (the core i3/i5/i7 processors) are much faster. Next, do you want a dual core/tricore or quadcore processor? Simple answer is more cores are better if you run multiple applications at once, but the reality is most people don't so a dual core processor should suffice The more memory you get in your laptop the better, and the faster that memory is rated the better, so look for laptops with at least 4gb of DDR2 RAM rated at 800mhz minimum (better still 1066mhz to 1333mhz memeory if you can find a laptop with that spec for the money) Big hard disks mean more storage so look for at least 250Mb disc size Your chosen machine will no doubt have Windows 7 home edition, but check if you get the 32bit or 64bit version of the operating system. Both are ok but the 64bit version takes full advantage of the processors architecture. The next biggest criteria is the screen. Big screens equal better viewing but drain battery faster (but if you like 99% of home laptop users always have the thing plugged into the mains, then get he biggest scrren size you can) Ignore things about the screen type (TN/XVGA etc.) Most laptops have TN panels and these are perfectly adequate. Other considerations - USB ports, DVD drive, 1394 firewire port(for connecting yer video camera), eSata port perhaps (if you want to add an external disc drive caddy), SD/MMC card slot for your digital camera photo downloads WIFI - minimum spec nowadays is a 54g compatible inbuilt wifi adaptor (some laptops will run both 54g and the 150mb wireless N spec. but your router must also run this higher spec. to get the 150mb speed.) Network port - should be 10/100/1000mb - if you have a hard wired connection to your router. You 'should' get all the above for under £400 easily, but the processor/RAM/disc/screen combination should be as high a spec as you can afford, so for example try Intel core i5, 4Gb ram at DDR2 800mhz, 13" screen, 500Gb disc. Hope this helps some.
