  1. totally understand where your coming from Mick… hope she makes a speedy recovery mate, beautiful girl
  2. glad to be of service Mungler We will all have different views on this, and many things where took into account, i always said and always have…if any of my dogs ever bit..i would never breed from them, hence, said balls where snipped... we don't have children here..my grandchildren live up country, and we see them every blue moon… so no threat to them, and as i said, if they did come down..the dog would be in a crate, or muzzled... we are also moving soon to a smallholding…i know when we are there, the lad will have a massive area to run around in and continue to work….the area is totally fenced..this will be checked on a regular basis, as i will also be having livestock, as i have also said before, if my lad had walked into the room and bit me…different matter…that would have been straight to the vets... i have never been a person to give up at the 1st hurdle..poo happened..we have to deal with it... I do respect all of you views, we are all different, as i said before, if i thought for one minute, i couldn't deal with this…i wouldn't keep a dog, thanks for all the wishes, the eye is well on the mend, and should be able to go fishing this weekend ...
  3. the price of these things have really come down, many in the filming world are using them, they range from 300 pounds up to silly money, the cheaper ones will take a go pro easy…
  4. well, i have sort of got my revenge the poor little lad has had his gonads snipped. and is now walking around with a lampshade collar feeling very sorry for himself,,, and where is he laid,….right beside me. the neutering is more to stop any breeding, even on a one off situation…i would not now breed from him…. i will get him sorted, i owe him that much
  5. i agree with you Robbie, i would never live with myself if he ever bit again, especially a child, but thats what i have to make sure of… i will also be keeping, goats , sheep, cattle and pigs when we move on to the smallholding, they too, will be controlled in a way where they can not harm anyone.. i do understand what you are saying, and even respect your look on the subject, all i am saying is, its going to be different to start with, but once we have our routine, it should be easy to achieve, as i said above , if i couldn't do this, i would never have a dog again jasp
  6. Can i just add, before making any decision, i also spoke with our vet, who totally backs the route we are taking, the boy has had his gonads snipped today…this is part of the change, as a responsible dog owner..except the other night, i now, would never let him sire , anyway, vet says the lad is doing well
  7. No one would change our minds, thats the wife included…. if the dog came running at me and attacked me….that would totally be a different ending…. if i thought for one minute, i would give up on a dog in a case like this…i would never keep a dog or any animal...
  8. Robbie the rimmer thats why i have taken the measures i have…. cocker rage , as far as i am led to believe, came from in and over breeding…i know the full history of my dog…i knew the family way before he was even conceived ... as i also said..when out..he will be muzzled, when at home, if we have people visit..he will be caged…. if you injured an animal instead of killing it out right, whilst shooting, would you give up shooting, there could be a massive chance that you could do it again…same goes with everything in life, you could crash your car..do you give up driving..there could be a child in front of you next time

    Farm land

just a quick calculation, 180 mts of stock fencing plus poles, stays, and staples, would cost you around 360 pounds, plus a gate… this would be the price if your doing it with a light grade stock fence, obviously , the better the fence , the higher the price, plus, are you re-seeding the land…. i wouldn't pay more than 10 pounds per month, and i would the 1st year, without doubt to be free, if i was supplying the fencing, as some have said, depends on where, and how much the land is worth to you
  10. I agree STOTTO…but i shoot, and i respect my loaded gun,.as i now have to respect my dog, and re-train myself , in his world he is a member of the pack..and not my little buddy, even though i still love the little *** yes, the boy will still work…thats what i got him for, the biggest problem there was, , was me getting far too complacent with him... his little life will change now…no interaction with kids…and no free roaming around the house…but he will have 20 acres to work and run around on... so he will still have a great quality of life, i to will loose out, on not being able to do what i did before…but thats a price worth paying, for me and the little fella..
  11. What a complete idiot i was…. last saturday evening, sat down on the floor eating a pizza and glass of wine, gave my little cocker the crust, the wife went mental….put it in his bowl…. so like a child, i gave him another bit, but this time, i lost balance and fell towards his face…. within a split second, bang bang bang,,,, 3 bites to the face….the dog instantly, curled up in submission….the wife just screamed..HOSPITAL NOW…i replied, what are you on about…stop over reacting, stupid woman, my face started to feel wet and sticky…blood was pouring out… the wife got the neighbour, and off to hospital….got cleaned up..and had to return 1st thing in the morning for the plastic surgeon to stick my eye back up... anyway..its repairing nicely.. The dog, is not being put down, as this was as much my fault as his, yes he crossed the line, but, as a dog owner, i have responsibilities, from now on…anyone comes to the house, the dog gets put in his crate, when outside, walking, he will wear a muzzle, today, the lad is being sniped…. we move on to the smallholding soon, so he will have plenty of room to run around and enjoy life some have said i should have him put down, others agree with my choice, i am not a person to make knee jerk reactions, nor is the good lady, and we both agree, thank god it wasn't anyone else, or even a child…not that we have many kids in the house….but a big lesson learnt... healing up nicely now…. the bottom eye lid has been re-stiched on... he is a working cocker…and no..he hasn't got cocker rage…that normally comes from over or inbreeding... just one horrible experience that i hope will never happen again….

Rimfire, its just over the border, in Cornwall ..rare breeds, cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, turkeys, geese, ducks, meat chickens, laying chickens, and rare breed chicken, plus ducks, the wife wants to make goats milk soap, we will also be starting a kiddies ,sheep and chicken club, getting the young ones involved will hopefully mean they will pester mum to come and buy our produce whilst they can see how their pet rare breed chicken is doing... not forgetting they will have their own eggcup to put their fresh eggs in….. and when the fruit is ripe, the good lady has suggested a baking day... not forgetting a few events to get customers in , like a hawk flying day, a gun dog training day….you know the stuff i mean...

So did we at one point, but sadly we would have had the neighbour from hell, the seller even offered to knock down the price from 80k to 50k…. the biggest problem then would have been getting services to the land, they would of had to go over or under her land…. sometimes you just got to walk away….plus, i wouldn't of felt comfortable if i had to work away anytime, leaving the wife alone where we are going now, is only 1 hour away from Exeter, so that means i can keep 3 regular customers and work two days a week…still giving me an income, whilst the good lady wife can put 7 days a week into the new agriculture business..and me 5 days a week J Dog, my sister has Cerbal palsy , so to me, its no big gesture, more something close to my heart..and i know how much enjoyment they can get from the animals …so win win win situation, without them getting ripped off its going to be bloody hard work, but something we both have wanted…i guess you get out what you put in...

Thanks lads, its down in Cornwall, its not as flat as i hoped in fact its more of a 20 acre slope …but thats just a small hitch,,,and only 3 miles from the sea, so the fishing and shooting are sorted.. we nearly did it before when we bought a farm in france, but sadly mum became ill with alzheimers , so we had no option but to sell up and look after mum, mum is in a home now, and don't know us anymore, so we thought it was time to live the dream before we where to old, as they say, you only live once... we have a lot to learn, still but its great having something totally different to read about, then put into practice… one of our dreams is, to have a little cabin so youngsters or anyone with disabilities can have a break without being ripped off, thats one thing that will be in the pipe line

  22. the helmet looks great, i think i would look at certain fashions, like vintage tractors, knock up some good replica massy Ferguson 35s or if you want a nice big project, a nice 6mt x 4mt livestock shed…i would even offer to display it for you and even add a few goats totally free of charge or a nice 5ft waterwheel…that will fit on a nice duck house
