  1. The issue with S5ammo deliveries has compounded the lack of availability of US made ammo here in the UK. Earlier in the year TNT withdrew their service of moving S5 ammo - there is no other authorised carrier. As a result some of the wholesalers GMK, RUAG for example have set up their own delivery service with their own van & guys. Other RFDS are driving around the country themselves and collecting it - some of the UK (like the Isle of Wight) is not covered by this delivery service at all. As you can imagine its caused huge problems and of course all of the current solutions are far far more expensive than what TNT used to charge. Some of the wholesalers (Edgars particulalry) have not had Hornady in many popular calibers for months and indeed do not think this situation will change in the near future.
  2. bloke here on the Island lost his Disco 3 to a fire - it took 8 OldBill to deal with it becasue he had 100 shotgun carts in the back - they were more interested in tat than any other aspect of the fire
  3. definitely UKMail - I know Charles has had major issues over the years and they are one of the few that carr 1.4s hazard which is shot gun carts -powder and metallic falls into a different catagory and remmeber expanding ammo is section 5 so wahtever the carriers attitude to carrying something the ammo is technically prohibited under our current legislation and so the carriers must be licensed in the same was as we all are with the exemption on our certificates for S5 ammo
  4. I think you are absolutley on the nail with this - fedex despite shipping firearms in the US have a no gun policy elsewhere - this has nothing to do with £££
  5. The EU would dearly wish for no citizen to have firearms - the rules they wish & indeed will impose on sportspeople given time have nothing to do with terrorism and everything to do with taking legitimate firearms away from those who do not misuse them
  6. That has not come out well has it will have to try again
  7. There are all sorts of reasons why going to get a gun in person in not practical . As OF says it's hard on the Island and many people simply don't have the time. I certainly have not. Will try the other courer you mention David thank you.
  8. David - Parcelforce are quoting me 6 weeks to access those BASC terms - I am marooned here on the Isle of Wight - I cannot do any RFD transfers and our gunsmithing service has come to a halt as there was no notice from TNT (whole we have used for almost 30 years) - they have had the RFD and we have been trading since 1957 but they still want to do a load of checks
  9. I have the letter and was going to post it but The images are bigger than the file size and I don't know how to deal with that. The situation is quite bad really particularly if you are on an Island like I am. We have relied on TNT for so long and for the service to be pulled the way it has been is unprofessional. There is something sinister going on and I can't help thinking that whatever has caused TNT to make this decision will manifest itself elsewhere. it's not about money for TNT because the GTAvaccount is straight into their bottom line. The van will still pull up outside my shop everyday, the salaries will still be paid to the drivers and the depots will still be open.
