  1. This should help from the 2024 book. F = Fine VF = Very Fine EF = Extremely Fine BU = Brilliant Uncirculated
  2. The 02p is for pot hole repair! 😁
  3. The financial expert on GB News said the rises in car insurances are due to the shipping hijacking that’s going on, so we are subsidising the shipping company’s claims. My car insurance went up by about £100. Did a check on Go Compare and all results were higher than my renewal. I have never known that happen before. The past searches have always produced something cheaper, even if it was only a few pounds.
  4. Cracking gun shops at Tumby (Derek Lees) and Wragby (Forest Lodge Guns) and a superb cartridge dealer near Alford (Coppins). Brilliant pub with superb food at Conningsby (The Leagate Inn). Recently changed hands and they have really turned the place around. Tuesday pie night is really worth a visit. A large pie with excellent chips and gravy for two to share £25. The Moo and Blue (steak and Stilton) is superb. It is also very dog friendly.
  5. One off the bird table this afternoon. Total = 463
  6. For sale 26 off Walnut pen turning blanks with lovely figures. These would go well with my bullet pen kits that I have also advertised on Pigeon Watch. Thinest blank is 19mm x 19mm Thickest blank is 27mm x 27mm Shortest blank is 133mm Longest blank is 226mm That’s enough to make 68 bullet pens using the kits in my other advert. £75 for the lot Collection only from near Louth in Lincolnshire. May be able to do a part way meet.
  7. For sale 34 off Gold Plated, Bolt Action Pen Turning Kits with Parker type ballpoint refill. £170 for the lot. These pens are great sellers with the shooting community. I am selling as I have arthritis in both my thumbs and find this type of work very uncomfortable. Collection only from near Louth in Lincolnshire. May be able to do a meet if this helps.
  8. They are technically not BBQ’s, they are more of a charcoal oven capable of precise temperature control. They are particularly good for very long slow cooks like briskets and pulled pork. They also do fantastic calzone pizzas. I have a gas BBQ, a kamado and a gas pizza oven and I regularly use all three.
  9. Very happy with my Ballarini sold through Zwilling. I also use a Le Creuset wok which is very good non stick wise. As said above, all non stick cookware needs looking after. Ie. Do not put in the dishwasher, no metal utensils, do not overheat. Non stick coatings are quite delicate, so if you are going to do a lot of searing etc, get a good cast iron pan.
  10. I have and my son did as well. All I can say is do it, you won’t go back.
  11. Makes a change, all of my bills are getting bigger 😢
  12. Just seen on the Shoot Clay forum that the East Yorkshire Shooting Ground at Bygot Wood near Beverley is to close in June this year. This news has deeply saddened me as it was my favourite shooting ground and, I believe, was one of the oldest in the country. I believe the issue is restrictions being applied to the lease. I do not know the exact details, but I believe that complaints about noise are in the mix. Sounds like the woke townie brigade are getting their way yet again and destroying the fun that many people have enjoyed for many decades. Bill Walker will be turning in his grave at this sad news.
  13. If you have the skills and the time a good set of Waterstones and a strop are what the experts use. I use an I.O.Shen knife wizard which has the required 15 degree geometry. I also use a steel on my Robert Welch every time I use it (never on the Japanese knives). Your problem is that you have knives with two different edge geometries, I.e. the Sabatier are 20 degree and 15 on the Robert Welch. There are electric sharpeners like the Chef’s Choice 1520 Diamond Hone Angle Select Electric Sharpener, but you will need to splash out around £160 on one. I also have a Tormek whetstone sharpener, but they are stupid money if you are only sharpening knives. As an aside, I really recommend to following book, Zwilling J.A. Henkels Complete Book of Knife Skills: The Essential Guide to Use, Techniques & Care It is a cracking book on how to use and care for knives.
  14. For a budding chef I would look at German knives like Wusthoff as they are more forgiving on care and sharpening. Japanese knives are usually much harder and consequently have very brittle edges and require a great deal of skill to sharpen, usually to 15 degrees. Most German knives are 20 degrees due to the softer, more forgiving steel. I have both Japanese and German knives and feel much more relaxed using the German knives. My Japanese knives are Yaxell Ran and were much more expensive. Also worth a look are British company Robert Welch. They use German steel but with Japanese geometry. I have their extra deep Santoku knife and it is my go to knife for vegetable prep work.
  15. Both Derek Lee and Forest Lodge are excellent shops. For cartridges try John Coppin near Alford. They have the biggest selection of cartridges I have ever seen in massive stocks. Peter Coppin who runs it is a top bloke.
  16. I don’t mind being your son if you’ll have me? 😁
  17. You’re just stirring things up 😁
  18. I notice the dog has his beady eye on them. 😂
