    More than likely selling, but wanted to know about one or two I've got, namely an Edward 7th penny (1902) and well worn, and a Queen Victoria(1898)half crown is fair condition.

    This should help from the 2024 book.

    F = Fine

    VF = Very Fine

    EF = Extremely Fine

    BU = Brilliant Uncirculated

    Slightly better here , just outside of Yarmouth in a nice quite area , in band b it is £1283.02 , I don't know where they got the 02p from

    The 02p is for pot hole repair! 😁

  3. The financial expert on GB News said the rises in car insurances are due to the shipping hijacking that’s going on, so we are subsidising the shipping company’s claims.

    My car insurance went up by about £100. Did a check on Go Compare and all results were higher than my renewal. I have never known that happen before. The past searches have always produced something cheaper, even if it was only a few pounds.

  4. Cracking gun shops at Tumby (Derek Lees) and Wragby (Forest Lodge Guns) and a superb cartridge dealer near Alford (Coppins).

    Brilliant pub with superb food at Conningsby (The Leagate Inn). Recently changed hands and they have really turned the place around. Tuesday pie night is really worth a visit. A large pie with excellent chips and gravy for two to share £25. The Moo and Blue (steak and Stilton) is superb. It is also very dog friendly.

  5. For sale

    26 off Walnut pen turning blanks with lovely figures.

    These would go well with my bullet pen kits that I have also advertised on Pigeon Watch.

    Thinest blank is 19mm x 19mm

    Thickest blank is 27mm x 27mm

    Shortest blank is 133mm

    Longest blank is 226mm

    That’s enough to make 68 bullet pens using the kits in my other advert.

    £75 for the lot

    Collection only from near Louth in Lincolnshire. May be able to do a part way meet.

  6. For sale

    34 off Gold Plated, Bolt Action Pen Turning Kits with Parker type ballpoint refill.

    £170 for the lot.

    These pens are great sellers with the shooting community.

    I am selling as I have arthritis in both my thumbs and find this type of work very uncomfortable.

    Collection only from near Louth in Lincolnshire. May be able to do a meet if this helps.

    Not criticizing you Sir - just in case you think I am. Was genuinely interested in what the Komado brings to the party. I have a Weber and the prices in the UK are the same here, ridiculous. I'm such a tart that I buy the instant BBQ's whenever I can so my Weber doesn't get dirty - drives my Mrs up the wall!!.

    They are technically not BBQ’s, they are more of a charcoal oven capable of precise temperature control. They are particularly good for very long slow cooks like briskets and pulled pork.

    They also do fantastic calzone pizzas.

    I have a gas BBQ, a kamado and a gas pizza oven and I regularly use all three.

  8. Very happy with my Ballarini sold through Zwilling.

    I also use a Le Creuset wok which is very good non stick wise.

    As said above, all non stick cookware needs looking after. Ie. Do not put in the dishwasher, no metal utensils, do not overheat. Non stick coatings are quite delicate, so if you are going to do a lot of searing etc, get a good cast iron pan.

    SERIOUSLY?

    it's the only channel where you get a balanced account of what's actually going on AND you get coverage of events that BBC, C4,ITV and Sky news sweep under the rug.

    there are a couple of working groups investigating woodcock....have been for 20 odd years...one of the things they have been doing is netting them and measuring the beak length....which has over the decades has shortened.......this they think is due to their habitat in scandinavia ...drying out....

    i cant for my life think where i collected this info.....might have been a periodical ......do a bit of google hunting and you might find a address....

    measure the beak leangth before you eat it (if you can)

    Makes a change, all of my bills are getting bigger 😢

  11. Just seen on the Shoot Clay forum that the East Yorkshire Shooting Ground at Bygot Wood near Beverley is to close in June this year.

    This news has deeply saddened me as it was my favourite shooting ground and, I believe, was one of the oldest in the country.

    I believe the issue is restrictions being applied to the lease. I do not know the exact details, but I believe that complaints about noise are in the mix.

    Sounds like the woke townie brigade are getting their way yet again and destroying the fun that many people have enjoyed for many decades.

    Bill Walker will be turning in his grave at this sad news.

    What do you recommend to sharpen them with? I have just got some Robert Welsh and Sabatier knives

    If you have the skills and the time a good set of Waterstones and a strop are what the experts use.

    I use an I.O.Shen knife wizard which has the required 15 degree geometry. I also use a steel on my Robert Welch every time I use it (never on the Japanese knives).

    Your problem is that you have knives with two different edge geometries, I.e. the Sabatier are 20 degree and 15 on the Robert Welch. There are electric sharpeners like the Chef’s Choice 1520 Diamond Hone Angle Select Electric Sharpener, but you will need to splash out around £160 on one. I also have a Tormek whetstone sharpener, but they are stupid money if you are only sharpening knives.

    As an aside, I really recommend to following book,

  13. For a budding chef I would look at German knives like Wusthoff as they are more forgiving on care and sharpening.

    Japanese knives are usually much harder and consequently have very brittle edges and require a great deal of skill to sharpen, usually to 15 degrees. Most German knives are 20 degrees due to the softer, more forgiving steel.

    I have both Japanese and German knives and feel much more relaxed using the German knives.

    My Japanese knives are Yaxell Ran and were much more expensive.

    Also worth a look are British company Robert Welch. They use German steel but with Japanese geometry. I have their extra deep Santoku knife and it is my go to knife for vegetable prep work.

    Very nice read Grandalf , I am afraid I never got into game shooting till later on in life , we had never seen a Pheasant until we went beating on our local estate in the late 60s, just seeing the birds going over the guns were amazing and in those early days I never dreamt that one day I would be standing on the same places where those guns were standing , I was never in the position to spend a lot of money on a decent gun in those far off days , then as time wore on and the mortgage was paid off, I started to have a few bob in my pocket after doing a few building jobs after tea and at weekends , I was doing a job once when a bloke I knew came and see me who was getting married  and asked if I was interested in a gun , I asked him what sort and how much , so he went and got it and when he took it out of the sleeve it was a lovely English side lock ejector in very nice condition , I kept calm and said how much , I am looking for £300 , I will take it to Richardson's gun shop and if it is sound I will have it , sound it was and at a later date I ended up , or the brothers did  sending it to Birmingham to be re proofed , it passed with flying colours and I have still got it , the difference between me and you is I have only got one daughter and two grand daughters so it wouldn't be passed over to them , my shooting days are drawing to a close so one day I hope it will be going to someone who will enjoy it as much as your son will enjoy ole faithful .

    This was made near you by , or made for Norman , Framlingham , Suffolk .

    If we don't go out on Saturday we usually get a takeaway, wife decided she fancied fish (cod) and chips and a pot of curry sauce, so I went to my local chippy and ordered two portions, nearly fell over when he asked for £22, what's the prices like by you?

    6 hours ago, old'un said:

    Regular haddock and chips twice, just over £15. I would say both fish were more like large.
