Shall post some more shortly.

I reckon there were 5 guest guns who joined Bob's syndicate. Fully agree with Nelly T about a great bunch of people and a fantastic day out indeed!
Dave, I fired just over a dozen shots and got two birds, both R to L ones. Have some problems in the L to R's and Bob reckons this is a problem for most right handed shooters. Would try to overcome this by practicing on clays. Any suggestions? Also, may have been giving too much lead!

Great to know that 5 ducks were added to the bag (which leaves the total count at 74 pheasants, 2 woodies and 5 ducks-not bad at all)!
The pictures have come out nice and there is one in which it looks like the pellet that has gone right through the pheasant is also captured!
I am unsure if I should post photos with individuals as some may not want their pictures on the internet?

Yes indeed!
I had got a plinth which could not bear the weight and so went ahead with fixing the cabinet anyway before the 2nd inspection!
Will get some wood and prop the cabinet over the skirting now...
-
I also started only the other month. Join your local shooting club and get a couple of lessons.
I got the BASC membership too and this would be required if you want to do some game shooting.
All the Best.

Yes I am with BASC and am also member of a few other associations.
The FLO had adviced me either to remove the skirting or prop the cabinet up, but as the house is rented, could not do the former and the prop I got could not stand the weight (the cabinet is very heavy indeed) so I thought I'll go ahead and bolt it anyway...

I am very excited over my 1st pheasant shoot (driven) this sat. Only been shooting for a couple of months so am nervous too!
Any good tips would be welcome.
-
Many thanks Apache!
Wish I had the info before as I could have quoted this to the firearm officers who visited me this evening (2nd time). The cabinet was very tightly bolted and is very heavy so is reasonably secure but I now have to do what they say...
-
I was just sharing my experience.
Guess, would get a wood base to prop the cabinet above the skirting and fix the bolts again as the FEO has advised!
Only wonder, if this was not a legal requirement, then how come the local FEO are implementing it so tightly! The area I live is very low in crime by the way...
-
Really...!!!
Yes it is a Beretta 12g o/u...
The choice I have been given is either I sort it in 3-4 weeks (ie., fix it again with no gap between wall and cabinet) or store the shotgun with a 'friend' or a dealer, lest the gun may be confiscated!
-
But I saw somewhere in this forum that bolting the cabinet is NOT a legal requirement, only good practice...
-
'Get a life' is what my advice be to these MP's!
-
I was asking about the legal requirement-ie., If one has a very heavy gun cabinet, does it have to be flush to the wall?
-
Also, does the cabinet need to be flush to the wall?
-
Thanks guys!
Rob, I shall try the wood trick to lift the cabinet above the skirting...
-
Many thanks for sharing your experience Paul.
Its going to be a nightmare to take out the near 6" bolts I had drilled through the concrete in a rented house!
Looks like I am going to lose my deposit when I move out!
-
Any advice would be welcomed.

Following inspection by the 2 local firearms officers today, I was told that I need to reinstall my (very heavy) 7 gun cabinet (one of those which looks like a normal cupboard and has the steel cabinet within) as due to the skirting, it leaves a cm between the wall and the cabinet even after 4 bolts were screwed in very tightly! I was told my gun (I only have one) shall be confiscated if I don't do this withen 3-4 weeks!
Anyone else had similar issues?

I am a member of Leicestershire Wildfowler's Association and have a BASC membership but no dogs.
Only recently got into shooting so am unsure if I would qualify for your offer?
Have only shot a few hundred clays, three lessons and going for my first pheasant shoot this weekend.

Clever!

Nice video.
How did you manage to do the two 'shootings' at the same time?
Pre-mount gun or not?

Don't pre mount but it is imp not to keep the gun pointed down-so when you mount, you would only need to raise it up (ie., parallel movement).
