  1. Good write up mate. And a good session.Pity we didn't hit the ton. As I was packing up I had the tail gate of my jeep open parked next to The hide and I still had birds landing in the decoys. How does that work ? Do they know the gun is slipped. You can be in the hide perfectly still and they jink away At 50 yards.

I was thinking the same, a good spell of frost will keep it down, I was speaking to my farmer yesterday and he said he won't expect it to grow much more this side of new year.

Just to update. I got out today, I was set up by about 09.30 just on the edge of a small copse with the wind at my back, 10 dead birds out on cradles and the magnet. Within minutes I had birds decoying in, steady I think sums up the day, I was packed up by 13.30 total count was 48. Pictures have been taken and Cosd my shooting buddy has kindly agreed to post for me. Xplor

Just a quick heads up guys. Keep you eyes on your osr. I have noticed a few building up on various fields Down the side of the M1 in Hertfordshire this week, so today I checked out a block I have in South Herts. I must have pushed 6/700 hundred off it with another 200 or so sat in the trees bordering. None of it was direct drilled so I am assuming they are hitting the crop. I will be out on it tomorrow so will keep you posted. Xplor.
  5. Cos. See what happens when I go away. Your never going to hit that ton if you park your car in the pattern.
  6. Can't guarantee that it would reach me in one piece, It's only cost £15 but it matches one we have and there no long available to buy, Xplor.
  7. Thanks for reading guys. I'm trying to buy an item of the bay, but the seller won't ship, So I'm wondering if someone in the area or passing and heading south could collect it for me. I'm heading up north to Blackpool in August so I would be able to collect it. It's only a photo frame so not huge, there will either be a drink in it for anyone that can help or a days pigeon decoying in Hertfordshire, The things we do to keep the other half happy. Thanks again Xplor.
  8. I'm offering 1 maybe 2 guys who are new to pigeon decoying a day next Wednesday 19th. We will be shooting over fresh drilled spring barley or beans. all you need is gun carts and seat. This is sharing a hide so we will provide all the kit, shotgun cert and insurance must be shown on the day. We will be shooting in South Hertfordshire. Again this is for guys with no land of there own who are new to decoying. Pm me for more details. Xplor
  9. I have absolutely no idea how to attach a link to YouTube so hopefully someone will do this for me. I searched for Wood end simulated game after seeing it on guns on pegs. Is this the done thing on one of these days or am I being a wuss. I would defiantly not want to pay full price being one of the front guns, if this is the norm I will give it a miss. Xplor
  10. I took this photo and forwarded to my shooting buddy cosd to put up. There are no sheep in the area as far as I'm aware.the photo was taken on the edge of a rape field. I came across it at first light whilst checking out where to set up, my lab was beside me when I took the pic, He was licking his lips thinking all his birthdays had come at once.
  11. . I shoot a lot of places around the Tring area, and the fields you are talking about are shot over by a mate. We will probably be out there Wednesday, problem is one shot and there gone. Xplor.
  12. I can see some of mine from the kitchen window The rest is spread all over, but the furthest is only 15 minute drive. Much to the annoyance of my shooting buddy.
  13. My first pink was taken on the Solway in 1978, I was 12 and was up there for a week with my elder brother and his mates, We stayed in a guest house in cummertrees and shot the morning and evening flights. First morning out with my new gun, early christmas present,an Elderkin and son 32inch hammer sxs 3 inch a right beast. I was in my hole on the marsh before first light with my bro and mates spread about 20yrds apart. Just as it breaking light I looked up and there's 4 heading straight for me, I pulled the hammers back and got myself ready. Before I knew it they were over my head and bang, all I remember was sitting with my back to the mud thinking what happened. Both barrels went together I hit the front goose the butt hit me in the nose so claret everywhere and I chipped a tooth. I had 2 more that week, but the first was the best. .
