  2. Had a disco 2 and had all the problems you get with them :- Leaking sunroof, oil in electrics, oil pump bolt failure, leaking suspension pipes etc etc etc etc etc. Looked long and hard at Discovery 3's. I think they are great looking cars the 4's even better and superbly capable off road with better on road manners than its competitors like the landcruiser. BUT. Spend a bit of time reviewing the car on sites like Honest john, parkers etc and you will see a number of failures, faults, recalls in my book to many. Add to that the wear and tear costs of a second hand 4x4 of which the landrover is very heavy on especially its suspension, wishbones and bushes etc and you definitely need to be either very handy with the spanners or have deep pockets even if its an indy doing the work. Main stealer you will need to remortgage. They are great cars but a rollercoaster of emotions owning in my humble view. I have nearly bought a 4 a couple of times but the random engine failures due to throwing crank shells just does not give me the confidence to buy one. I went landcruiser a few years ago and will be going back to one. They are not as nice to be in or ride but I wont have to spend my spare time fixing them.

  6. Got married last year after a long time living in sin so acutely remember the accommodating discussions I had to have. What food they ate didn’t bother me, tree hugger or hunter the venue catered for both, BUT, my view was simple when it came to guests. If I didn’t know you why would I A want you at my wedding and B want to pay for you a meal. You wouldn’t walk up to a stranger in the street and do it so why would my wedding day be any different. Invite denied.
  7. I had an 06 LC120 model for 3 years and really really wish I didn't sell it. Father has a LC150 model around a 12 plate. Both excellent cars. The older one suffered failing injectors due to a copper sealing ring that was sorted by Toyota under recall if you caught it quick enough. Typical signs of the fault was loud knocking on a cold start (Overnight) Carbon deposits on pick up pump lead to oil starvation and you can guess the rest. The 150 model to my knowledge has not had the same issues and is the same engine. Only other thing I had was a binding caliper which was easy enough to sort. Both cars had trouble free motoring. Mine had the adjustable air suspension that worked without issue. Old mans has springs and shockers. The 150 I felt was a slightly firmer ride especially round corners. Neither will set the record for 0-60 but quick enough for the size of bus they are. Inside they are functional and have all you need. Very comfortable especially on the long runs with lot and lots of space. They eat miles, set cruise control and away you go. Late 20's on a run so typical 4x4 mileage for a car that size. Never broke, down, never got the 3 amigo lights, never went in limp mode, very capable off road even on standard tyres and tow like a train. The heated seats in my car weren't the warmest.
