  1. Thanks for the reply im after 12. figgy ive just been struggling to find some, unless I buy 250.
  2. Hi I'm in a bit of a pickle I'm after some spent eley classic game 20g paper cartridges to make buttonholes for my wedding in a month. I appreciate its an odd request but if anyone has any could they let me know by pm or just reply to the post.
  3. Hi all, don't post that much spend more time reading. Just a quick question as my title suggest im putting in for my .17 HMR to go with my .22RF. What id like to know is when i request what ammunition id like do i need to put ballistic tip and expanding separate or do i just write .17 HMR Exp and that covers me for standard and expanding? Thanks Gus
  4. This is a very dark day for our country, my condolences and deepest sympathies are with the families that have been affected by this. And while I don't want to speculate on what the future holds for us license holders, as now is not the time until we have all the information. One thing is for sure, the spotlight will be on us for months now and we must be whiter than white. Angus
  5. Another vote for SxS, just about right weight wise, so not an arm killer on long walks. Only downside due to it's age is it can only take up to 32g cartridges, although I wouldnt want to have anything more, oh and nothing 70mm.
  6. Hmmm plenty of different views to think about Thanks for all of the advice though I think ill stick with a 170 variable, and probably get a red filter and maybe another just so i can change every now and then. Im not sure how effective amber would be near mine as the people who control the vermin on the adjacent fields use an amber filter and I would of thought that after a while your quarry can get shy to it. Thanks again Gus
  7. Thanks for the advice, I think i'll go for the 170 scope mounted, save changing at a later date Only other question for owners of the above; Is the variable part (dimmer) on the lamp itself as show on some of the hand held 170 pictures or does the scope mounted version use a in-line dimmer as with the switch? Gus
  8. Hope i've posted this in the right section Just looking for some advice on a gun lamp, I have decided to go for a scope mounted lightforce for my .22lr, just really looking to see whether a 140 or 170 would be best and is there much difference between the two? Also would a variable power one be better for the solo lamping missions? Thanks Gus

  10. Thanks for the advice guys, after a chat with the boss I don't think its the real macoy, but will look into it a bit more. Crazyfarmerboy im down near Clacton-on-Sea
  11. As the title suggest we have a dew pond quite large that is slightly overgrown with rushes...well bit more than slightly, anyway during the winter it can have a foot or more of water. My question is as we can't really afford to dig it out, if the reeds were cleared and food was put down in the more shallow areas would that attract ducks? and do they need to see a large clear area of water to land? Also apart from control of foxes are there any other tips to create a good place for them but on a shoestring, this is just a to try and get it sorted for next season? Any advice will be greatly appreciated Thanks
  12. My first post, well actually second, as i've spent way too much time reading all the past topics Had my visit this afternoon about my SGC and FAC, decided to do half a days beating in Chelmsford to take my mind off it. Took Finlay our springer (he's starting to come good for me which makes it delight to work him) he was his usual hypa self, must try and get a picture up. Anywho got back and got the kettle on the boil, lovely bloke which made things so much easier, had a good chat (didn't want tea/coffee ) 20 minutes all sorted, will need to wait a year or so before moving to a centrefire, he suggested .243 i was thinking .223, but thats by the by as im happy with the .22 for the time being . Added bonus will be open ticket from the start. So as title suggest, its been a good day, although i'm getting a hankering once the license comes to go shopping, it isn't going to happen for a bit thought, luckily dad says i can use his .22 BRNO and one of the Henry Atkins that were his fathers (didn't know who the hell he was til recently found out in one of the ads in Sporting Gun , bit apprehensive taking that out Pigeon Shooting but as he says "You don't have a Rolls Royce to leave it in the garage" And to anyone who has their visit coming up.....relax as more than likely you will get on well with them, have alot to talk about, and you'll have a person you can contact if you ever have questions, and you can never have enough of those people. Gus
