  1. Was desperate for an r8 for ages. As a "kid" my first "luxury" motor was a tt and when I saw the r8 I had to have one. Awesome looking and supercar spec. But then I saw how small it was in real life and just couldn't. Have stuck with 4x4 or SUV since. Actually considered the panamera and cayman as toys but not my style (had a lotus elise and a vx220 but they really dont fit me!) Just checking out the Levantè again (whilst drunk in dublin) and its pretty much settled that I'll get one. Nothing else ticks the boxes and piques my interest in terms of styling. Edd
  2. Head will probably be into lintel. Frame fixings into steel or concrete lintels are easy. Through the cill isn't to pull it down but more to just cut down on possible movements. With plugs and screws the hole that you need to drill is bigger than the shank of the screw so there's always that bit of movement. With the frame fixings it's a 6.5mm hole with 7.5mm fixing so no "wiggle". Plus never losing plugs if holes as too deep and just one less process not having drive the plug in first. Not cheap to buy compared to screws but worth it IMO and we were using hundreds of boxes a year. As a joiner I used to cringe seeing site chippys hacking away at plugs with what they thought were sharp chisels while I'd be pairing them off with a 2" chisel that you could shave with. Sometimes I miss the work....but not often!! Edd
  3. I'd suggest frame fixings rather than plugs and screws, means no movement around the screw. https://www.screwfix.com/p/easydrive-countersunk-concrete-screws-7-5-x-100mm-100-pack/3839h If I was doing it I would do hinge side, glazed side, head and cill.acrylic to eliminate any movement. Many of the fixings can be hidden but others can be plugged afterwords. Make sure you have a very sharp chisel to clean off the plugs. Edd
  4. Stop it!! I'd be jn so much trouble if I did......... But..... A retirement gift/project???? Maybe. . Edd
  5. As WalkedUp says if I wanted to "pose" I could buy something flash (Lamborghini urus) but the levante isn't flash. Someone above called it "understated elegance" and I agree. I'm sure there are people who would be jealous of your car and say you are posing and you'd disagree. Edd
  6. Same reasons for wanting anything: It suits my needs in terms of space, the quality, the styling, the type of ride and handling that I want/like/need, the spec.... but as much as anything I just like it. Why not? Edd
  7. Thanks for the reply. I've had cayennes for years but needed a change and can't find anything else that catches my eye. Done the RR and discovery route but not into that any more. Just really like the look of the maserati and the spec is good. Reviews of poor reliability seem to relate to older models. Cost of running and maintenance does not make pleasant reading but in reality it'll hardly be used and shouldn't be too much worse than the Porsches. Jury is still out (lots of other things taking priority over a car) but I think when j get a chance I will get kne, barring any horror stories beforehand. Edd
  8. Maybe a few will relate... Edd
  9. Carrots every day for mine seem to do a decent job. Edd
  10. No cabinet required. Just kept secured away from kids etc. .22 traditionally for rats but .177 flatter shooting and therefore perhaps a little easier for a novice. Pellet choice is all important especially if .177. Hollow points to avoid over penetration. Any cheap scope will suffice. Nikko Sterling or hawke are good value. Plenty of used ones about. Fixed at maybe 6x40 or variable with 3-9x40 Budget for the kit puts most weihrauch, AA, and BSA out of reach but does leave a few choices. Avoid the Gamo multi shot offerings. Worth looking at some of the Remington stuff as a budget gun. Pest controller, Express and a few other. Some decent options among them. Stoeger offer a couple of decent packages (x20 and similar) that have a better feel than much of the other stuff in the price range. It is possible to get a pcp set up within budget if he wanted and it will do the job but also maybe worth considering co2? Edd
  11. Easy answer is to look at standard Robust Detail which will keep your building inspector happy. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.robustdetails.com/&ved=2ahUKEwiAoe21qoX4AhXRlFwKHWe2B0MQFnoECAMQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1uY-PRO-Sr1bz7PmoNjKUX Just finished something similar with flat conversions above a restaurant and new kitchen extension. 5 layers to the floors got pretty expensive! (18mm board, acoustic slab, dense acoustic plank, 22mm board and one other that I happily forget). Also acoustic and fire rated ceiling with rockwool in voids. For acoustic insulation I'd be belt and braces as there's the potential for a whole load of hassle if you can't pass a sound test. If you have specific questions feel free. Edd
  12. Unfortunately yes. What do you need to know? Edd
  13. Could you let me know how many you have please? Might be headed that direction soon so could possibly work out, and there are none locally. Edd
  14. Was going to refrain from commenting but couldn't resist. Whilst I agree that it's not great service I think the OP is a bit OTT on this. To play devil's advocate: Gun dropped to dealer on Saturday. Closed Sunday. Catch up/tidy up from weekend(possibly contact receiving rfd if they are available) Monday Closed Tuesday (me) Speak to receiving rfd weds, pack gun and confirm details. Book collection weds/Thurs Gun collected thurs/fri (completely at the mercy of PF) No deliveries weekend. Gun arrive to receiving rfd mon/tue/even weds. Assuming they are open all of those days. Doesn't seem like such an extraction of urine. Can't comment on the way OP may have been spoken to but time frame doesn't seem so bad. I've waited much longer. Edd
  15. Anybody have a freezer full? They're for bird food. Edd

    Rfd

That can happen, but what happens if customer wants to buy? Who does he pay? Who pays the tax on the sale? Edd

    Rfd

I'm not saying it's always done properly but, as covered here many times, there is the way it SHOULD be done. The gun is entered onto the certificate of the "buyer" by the "seller" nobody else. So if your rfd enters the gun onto your cert he is the seller and therefore legally responsible for the sale and warranty. It also means that he should have paid the previous seller for the gun and then sold it on to you. If he's doing that then there are tax implications. Another system that worked but was fixed anyway. Edd

    Rfd

Before. It will be, or at least should be, entered onto your certificate before its posted so it belongs to you. Edd
  20. I'm guessing that nobody here actually owns one then? Edd
  21. Anyone here have any experience? Edd
  22. Bargain. To be in 24 hrs I reckon. Or at least should be. Edd
  23. 12mm is a thick bed. I'd think about reducing that by using some latex first. Assuming the tiles are of similar thickness it would also make sure that the subfloor is smooth and level this making your job easier. Edd
