  1. Good stuff again Bob, Yes I noticed the scars around the eyes of a couple of those Rabbits... I have had one or two this season myself bearing the scars of that horrible man-made disease :< Let me know how my nets are coming along Bob!! Rushy.
  2. Hello Masterblaster, Hope this helps, I have worked terriers for nearly 20 years and this year, I decided to change my habits of a life-time and get a lurcher bitch pup(I have always prefered bitches of most breeds) She is a 3/4 grey, 1/8th Beardie, 1/8th Border collie, I got her at 10 weeks old and she had very little human contact before that  She sat in her little bed for the first two days and only really showed signs of life when I brought one of my terriers through to introduce, She sparked to life then, and did also with the ferrets! But with humans nothing.. I rang the breeder and told him to have her back as I was worried there was something wrong, He told me to be patient with her and things will come round after a week...Well they certainly did and at the end of the week my missus had her sitting, retrieving a toy back to her and giving her a paw...After a week... Now some might say bull-**** but thats how it was. Now she is 6 months old and has caught her first two rabbits on the lamp.. Both sitters as she is too young yet for any serious runs, but caught them both after a short course. I had her out ferretting with me at about 13 weeks old and she is now out with me on every trip. She is still learning and although her retrieving is good, she can be a little distracted from time to time. She pins rabbits in the net and attempts to bring them to hand, Not quite learned this skill properly yet , So my advice would be to take her out with you at every chance, let her learn and get used to the sights, smells and sounds of the whole expierence, I am only seeing it from my side and I class myself as an Amatuer with these dogs, But hell I wish I got a lurcher 20 years ago!! Good luck with the pup, Hope she does the job for you, Rushy.
  3. Hi, I paid a fair bit less than that for a new one. FM What are you talking about? A mark 3 or a mark one, The mark one came with two collars too... I cant help thinking that I gort ripped off with that Mk 3.. And I hate getting ripped off :< Rushy.
  4. I was lucky... I bought a brand new 8 foot Mk 1 locator and collar set last year for £60. It replaced my old one which was ten year old. I have a Mk 3 too, But I prefer the old type, Each to their own but I find I have more control with the Mk1. Plus i paid £125 for the Mk3... Far too dear in my opinion. Rushy.
  5. I used to like going out for an hour or two locally when the rabbit population around here was good, Now I am out for the full day for maybe 15 rabbits or less. Well done , Looks like your polecat will do well for you, Rushy.
  6. Get knitting a few more then Bob! Good pictures again mate. Rushy.
  7. Ive checked it mate, Not in the field though! It will be spot on as always Bob! Thanks again mate. Rushy.
  8. Bloody hell Bob, you get about all over! Good to see you are on here now mate! Rushy.
  9. Good stuff! Did you have a collar on them? Not a bad bag there with nine! Rushy.
  10. Next time put a little smilie with a wink on it! Rushy.
  11. Each to their own Natures son.... But I value my ferrets and polecats too much to have them killed and replaced with another batch..Everyone is different I suppose. Rushy.
  12. Young rabbits have been seen around here all season!! I stop at the end of this Month but if anywhere needs special attention then I will still do it up until maybe mid-March. Rushy.
  13. I have used ferrets to rats once and that was once too many! She got into a battle with a doe rat protecting her young, and whilst she locked horns with it ,another came in from the side and made a real mess, She was dead next morning, I value them too highly to be used on rats, and tend to dig them with my terriers or let them work them freely, Still take a good haul every year doing it this way. Thats my opinion and I know a lot still use their ferrets to rats..... Rushy.
  14. I wouldnt go near the place again until you get the ferrets collared up, Worth the money as ferrets are a valuble tool and there are too many people willing to lose their little workers and get some more when they get chance, I am not saying you would do this but a lot of proper ferretters would frown upon this action, Better to be safe than sorry mate. :( Rushy.
  15. Young have been showing all season up here, Even at christmas when we had a little cold snap they were still knocking about, I usually stop at the end of February ferretting, But will be out and about with my Lurcher pup throughout the summer. Rushy.
