  6. I had a cyclist on a towpath ride at speed at the dog, the dog ended up in the water, OK fine she's a lab and a good swimmer, but its a canal and there is nowhere to get out! Cue me having to fish the poor thing out my her scruff, the fella didn't apologies or stop to help or even to check the dog could swim, I use to enjoy cycling till my bike was stolen, but a bit of common courtesy gose a long way, even to dogs.

  10. As others have said if you do ask, you don't need to mention it is a gun cabinet just ask if it is ok to bolt a safe to the wall!
  11. I seriously cannot fathom how anyone could do this, My dog is part of my family. My parents rehomed their two dogs when I moved away to university, my brother moved at out at the same time, so with less of us at home the dogs weren't getting the attention they needed, it still upsets me that I couldn't have them come and stay with me at uni, and this was 8 years ago! But they found a breed specific re-homing group and the dogs went straight to a new vetted home straight from my parents so I'm at least happy they were going to get the attention that my parents could no longer give them! obviously that dogs are not around anymore, but I'm happy we did the best we could by them.
  12. I wouldn't dump anything edible, but I think it's important to check with the landowner what they want you to do with vermin, and maybe offer a few ideas like burying, hedge bottoms etc. When I've been shooting ferals the land owner pointed out a particular bit of brush away from paths and the road, carcasses were always taken by the next time I was up!
  13. Headline man runs legal business and promotes it on Facebook!
  14. I would just offer to go help, beat or drag out beasts etc! be there on the day etc. I bet it would be an excellent experience even with our pulling the trigger!
  15. Masons pale cock worrier! Who wants a pint!
  16. Told my wife that the actors that play the weasley twins on Harry Potter weren't related in real life, she totally believed it to!
  17. I have a 14 month old lab bitch, she is in good shape but I'm not! what are your opinions on taking a working gundog running? Is it a bad idea, could it cause unsteadiness, on or off the lead etc. Thanks for any advice!
  18. I stand to be corrected but I'm not aware that Lions are endangered. I think it was a bad idea to kill this one, morally I don't have an issue with controlling the population of predators as part of a management plan, this was probably wrong, done for ego and money!
  19. Put cold water on the ball sac!
  20. I'd agree a sign that says no Cold calling is your best bet, I don't think they are as organised to check a do not call list etc. they just go and pick and random street, hence why you can some times have people come a couple of weeks apart!
  21. No experience, but is there any way you could have a temporary solid panel for when the bitch is in season, that clips to the bars or zip ties or something 10 months of the year you can have the looks of an open looking run and 2 months the solid?
  22. One may be a mistake, still not excusable, but surely after finding the ring on the leg of the first one you'd know what you are doing. Why would anyone do this? Fowl play by a competitor? As for telling them apart it is fairly simple, one thing is racer or ferals wing are in a v-shape when gliding where woodies are a lot straighter. Telling a feral from a racer is not so easy, and is more a question of location or behaviour than anything physical.
  23. Why do cyclists like going out in gangs? one cyclist easy enough to pass, wait till you are at a safe passing place, even 2 or 3 if they go single file to allow you to pass as the high way code says they should, but you see gangs of almost 20 some times on the country roads! I was out and about early one morning and it must of been their meeting up spot, I wanted to turn into a junction where they were all waiting about at, standing on their bikes, the look of surprise that a car might want to drive down a road on some of there faces, obviously I gave them time to move and the extra 20 seconds was nothing in the grand scheme of things, and I got on with my day. However, I do think a lot of the animosity between cars and cyclists could be avoided by cyclists staying in smaller groups, I accept there is a certain safety in 2s and 3s, but more than that it becomes a really inconvenience for people trying to get from A to B.
  24. I have had Zero Hour contracts before, whilst I was a Student etc. and I use to have more hours than I wanted and could of had more! I use to do 60+ hours some weeks during the holidays, other times I could have the week off with out having to use holiday up etc as I had no contracted hours. As mentioned above I have heard only about a third of people on zero hour contracts find them an issue about 700K people on them and 240K unsatisfied feel like they need more hours, not such a massive problem, I agree if you are one of the 240K who need more hours it may be an issue. The problem we had where I worked was getting people to do the hours we had a bunch of people who wouldn't do more the 20hrs cause they would lose there benefits, there was always enough hours for them to do a 40 hour week and more if they really wanted to.
