  1. I hope this poll will make my mind up . Which one do you all own? The most important of all, which is less effected by wind? Is the 17hmr more accurate at longer ranges then the magnum? Thanks for your vote and any info on this subject.
  2. Thanks for info so far, am still a bit confused as to what to get.
  3. Voted 12-25, thats whats on my 26-06. Works great. Culled 4 reds this noon, was badly needed then.
  4. Hi all, Was thinking about a .22 Magnum, for long range bunnys. (130yds and under) Plus the odd fox at close range. I have read that the .17 hmr is out selling the old .22 magnum and is a better round. I am confused as what to get , any suggestions? I thought that the .22 magnum was very popular? One thing that concerns me is wind, will the .17 be more effected by this, then the .22? Thanks for any info.

    BOLT STIFF?

Hi Whippet.22, im in the nort east of Devon mate. Thanks Stuart for the advice. Your right, they are great rifles and mine seems deadly accurate using Federal 50 grain SPs. Im 26 by the way, have heard of dads army, but never watched it. :*) Gemini, i put some oil on the bolt, but only very small amounts, prehaps i should change to grease, thanks.

    BOLT STIFF?

Thanks. Lurch, im using factory ammo at present. I have put 66 rounds through it so far. Rammer Burt, who is Mr Manwaering?
  8. Hi all, I recently gor a CZ .222. I find the bolt a bit stiff when i chamber a round and close it. Is this ok and safe? Is it because its new and will get better with time? Would it be the bolt lugs? The rifle shoots accurate and does not seem to have any other problems. Thanks.
  9. Thanks Nick . I will eventually reload i think, but not just yet. 3/4 inch at 100 sounds good enough for me , as i wont be going much further than 150, 200 max. I was told by a few that shot the RWS in hornet, that it was deadly accurate. I just wanted a few more opinions.
  10. Has nobody ever heard of this ammo then? .
  11. Am thinking of trying out this factory ammo when i get my .22 Hornet. Anyone have any experiences of using this ammo? I believe its the dogs wotsits :( . Any comments? Thanks.
  12. Thanks Big dog . Ill keep you all posted. Cheers.
  13. Looks very accurate. What rifle do you have? Is it a Tikka? Thanks
  14. Thanks Big Dog . Great info, i did a lot of searching and came up with a good few facts. It seems the .204 is deadly out to 400yds and sometimes more . The only thing it mainly seems to get used on is Prerie dogs and ground hogs most of the time. Some coyotes are taken with it in the states, but they advise to go for a shot behind the shoulder, otherwise the tiny v.max bullet causes a crater wound (or as its known in the states a splash) and tracking the poor unfortunate creture for a while to put in the humane kill seems to be the norm . On the other hand, the info i got about the Hornet from my search was very possitive, up to 150 to 180yds, on coyotes in the states. Apperently the .224 centerfire bullet with more copper on it, penetrates the vitals and then explodes, which they say gives a bang flop which seems a far better combination. So with all this info, im going for the Hornet. It seems fairly qiuet too compared to say .222, .223, ect. Thanks everyone for all the input, you have all been a great help . Cal.
  15. Very intersting. Thanks for info so far . Is it dangerouse to mess about with your firearm, ie, chopping then end off and prehaps making it weak? Would it have to be re-proofed again to make it safe? The price of factory Hornet ammo in my area is £30 for a box of 50, Winchester 46 grain Hallow points. The Hornady 35 gr V.maxes are £25 for a box of 25. So it seems reasonable to me. I still have not heard from any Hornet users, is their anyone out their that does? Or has the .222 and .223 taken over the whole thing? I would love to hear from any Hornet users, thanks. As i said i am not interested in reloading, too many children in my house which keep me very occupied . So i will have just enough time to go out once or twice a week for Charlie. :o , along with a spot of bunny hunting.
