  8. im currently in NZ, have been here for just over a month. Working on a dairy farm, which is what i was doing when i was in england, so getting a job before i came out easy. although the two people i work with came out with no farm experience and they were still able to easily get work in the farming sector if thats what you fancy. the place is amazing, if not a bit pricier then england, but the opportunities available are awesome!!!

  20. i know it was a long range, but we had been out in the morning to check the zero so i was confident that i was capable with the range. fogot to say the rifle was a CZ .243 with a swarofski 8x56 i think, using norma 100grain. another thing i forgot to mention, is the buck i shot was a he/she, dont know any other way of putting it tbh. i will try and upload the pics now.
  21. was recently introduced to one of my dads neighbours and friends, and got onto the subject of shooting down the pub. he is a volunteer gamekeeper for a decent sized shoot, and as i had nothing to do on the weekend i offered my services for some help on the shoot with feeding, maintenance etc. in return i got an evening sat in the high seat with my dad and his 243. finished work at 6 and then made are way up into the highseat, its a two seater so was perfect. after roughly 20 mins of waiting, i had sort of given up as the light would start to fade very quickly, but out of the corner of my eye i noticed a dark object moving on the edge of the sunflower cover crop(great for holding birds), had a look through the scope and instantly identified it as a roe, but i was unsure of the gender as it had its head down in the grass feeding. after watching it for roughly 5 mins it finally raised its head and i was able to identify it as a good condition buck, although i couldnt count the points at that range. after umming and arring for a few mins as to weather i was sure about the shot, as it was a fair distance i decided i was confident with myself and the rifle. placed the cross hairs just behind the shoulder held my breath and squeeezed. my first thought was that i had missed it due to the jump of the rifle, but dad was straight down the ladder and across the field, i followed him down and ran after him. it seemed to take forever to reach the deer, but when i arrived i was greeted by the lovely sight of a very dead 4 point buck, with a pretty much perfectly placed shot, dad had been watching it and it didnt even take a step, just hit the deck like a sack of spud. to say i was happy would of been an understatement, my first ever time out stalking, and my first ever shot on a deer had resulted in a very clean kill and a lovely set of antlers to remind me of the day. once we had finished bleeding and gutting it i decided to pace the shot out, just to see how far it was. i counted 239 paces, and it was then checked with a laser range finder, and was actually 247 yards. again pleased is an understatement ive tried uploading pictures, but phone is having a mare, will try again tomorrow. sorry for lack of pics at the moment
  22. amstel seems to go down very well recently, pretty much the only thing ill drink down the pub beer wise, if they go it

  24. if you want proper cider then try Wiscombe Suicider, absolutely lovely stuff. made in Devon in Southleigh, near Honiton. goes down far to easy, and i have yet to get a hang over from it been to many a cider making doo at the owners, and its still made in the traditional ways, using a horse to crush the apples etc. tis amazing to see.
