  1. I know how you feel... I've got a third nipple and I often lie awake worrying that I'm Scaramanga and James Bond is coming to get me!
  2. Chaps Another question from one of my shooting buddies.. (I should start charging commision!) A mate of mine is thinking of getting one of the Martini action 12b Greeners. I had considered one a few years ago (we like curiosity guns!), but was put off when the gunsmith said I might have trouble getting cartridges for it. The problem is, I cant remember whether he said they were 2" or 2 1/2" chambered. Does anybody know which it is? Obviously, he would only be interested in a nitro proofed gun, so it isnt a black powder/nitro issue. Thanks! Pete
  3. I was on the skeet range at Sporting Targets the other day and the wind was RIPPING through. The high birds were diving for the ground at a rate of knots, and twice the low bird got caught by a really strong gust and went up like a teal, before going back almost behind the low house!! Makes it more fun though! Pete
  4. As you said, you were doing 28 in a 30 zone. No offence committed, nothing to worry about! (unless the camera was knackered of course ) Pete
  5. Supersports are cracking guns, especially with the gas ram fitted. If I hadnt bought a Lightning XL recently, I'd have had that off you. Someone buy this, its a fantastic, workmanlike little rifle.
  6. LG 40/50 isnt bad at all! Were you doing single barrel? Mind you its those last 10 which really make the difference! The ones where you think "damn, I should have hit that!". I find that because DTL is quite "samey", the temptation is to rush your setup pre shot. The guns ready, you go through yor "ritual" (mine is brushing stones and spent shells off the stand with my feet), you call, and stab at it, probably missing underneath. Its a killer, but I get around it by getting myself set, and instead of calling as soon as I am completely ready, I count two seconds (in my head) one, two..pull This way I am consciously setting my rhythm, forcing myself to take each shot in a premeditated way. Give it a try, it works for me! Pete
  7. LB A friend of mine is from the area and had read the reports in a local paper. It appears to have been suicide. How sad. Hope the family find peace in time. Pete
  8. Hubertus Those really are some gorgeous photos. You are a VERY lucky guy. Just out of interest, how did you win the holiday?
  9. I'm amazed that Beretta dont do a left hander 391. Thank all thats holy that I am dexterous rather than sinster! Pete
  10. By all thats holy its a ***** song! For heavens sake, bring back the scousers who couldnt sing!. Put me on! Anything but the embarrasing spectacle of some fat wanna be rapper lurching all over the stage and mugging at the cameras! Who needs iraq war "nul points" votes when your entry is THIS bad! Pete

    Feel my pain!!!

OK then, photo evidence is my mission. It's going to be tough, bearing in mind I have been teasing my wife and her friend for before and after shots and altered(friend )/unaltered(wife ) shots for about a month. I'd dearly love to get a side by side comparison, but if I do, sorry guys, those pics will be mine and only mine! Pete
  12. Dunganick, Yes it was a gunsmith's gauge which was used (no offence taken ), it was a comparative measure. Unfortunately the tradition/snobbery (it is an Army/RAF officers shoot) has not changed in the last 15 years of my game shooting career where I shoot as far as autos are concerned, so the £60 modification may be the way forward! Cheers, Pete
  13. Apart from my auto, I also own an Ugartechea SXS 12b Unfortunately, it is choked 3/4 3/4 (WHY???), confirmed with a choke gauge I bought it for £150, in pretty much new condition. I reckon I got a pretty good bargain, as I have seen the same gun for sale for £300 + second hand in gun shops and on the net. What would it cost me to get it re bored down to say 1/4 1/2? I only ask as I get invited on quite a few shoots where using the semi would nt be popluar, but want to weigh the cost of getting it re-bored against buying a more "sociably acceptable" O/U. Aside from the obvioous arguments about why it should be wrong to use an auto on game shoots (I hate the snobbery too), can anyone help? Pete
  14. I'm safe, it's only 5 mins from Tesco to the next shop!

Sorry to hear that Hunter. I wish I could say it would get better, but like you say, its going to be bad forever. One of my best mates had enough in 2000 and stuck himself under an express train. The hurt never goes away, but with time we get better at dealing with it. Peace to your friend. Pete

Calm down reverend, its only a bit of fun! My wife thinks it is funny too! I too know what it is like to a long way from my loved ones. I spent 8 years in the army, most of tht overseas while she and the kids stayed here. Luckily for me, we have a good relationship so she manages to have a sense of humour about these things, as do I for her. Pete

    Feel my pain!!!

Friends, my life has recently become a lot harder. You see, my wife's best friend, who is, to say the least, flippin lovely, has recently had some *ahem* cosmetic adjustments made. These were above the waist, but below the chin if you know what I mean. Now this being summer and all, she has taken to wearing tops which allow her more bang for her buck. The problem is, she regularly comes round with my wife after work, and it is as though my eyeballs are on very short bungees, the non eyeball end being attached to the young ladies chest . I have yet to be proven guilty (though I am on suspicion ), so if I suddenly stop posting, it is because I am forming part of the base of a new patio. Call the police immediately! I therefore invite you all to test your skills on a game I found, so you can understand my terrible dilemma. www.totalfreegames.com/games/Busted (over 21 only....don`t get excited) Pete

I have to admit that after hearing that topics were being printed by unknown users, and having put my name and location as given on here into a certain directory service, my adress came straight up. I have therefore asked the mods to change my user name (which was my actual name) to the new one you see here. (thanks Cranfield & admin). As someone posted earlier, it is all well and good for me to be loud and proud about shooting, but it is not for me to potentially jeopardise my family's safety or peace of mind on a matter of MY principles. 23. I work about 3 miles from Huntingdon Life Sciences, and a very good friend lives in a village which is home to many of HLS' workers. About a year ago, the animal rights lot targetted the homes and property of the workers there. Not satisfied at that, they vandalised the property of othe residents, including my friends. Prior to this, people there have had incendiary devices and all sorts sent to them. The people who work there are trying to better the lot of all of us, and the ONLY way to do that quickly and effectively is to test new drug and treatments on animals. I only hope that those who commit these criminal acts against scientists, when they are old and in pain, will have the conviction to refuse ANY treatment or drug which has been trialled on animals. These people are terrorist scum, and the sooner people realise that the better. May the lady who's body was stolen rest in peace for ever more, and her family have a long, peacefull life free from harassment. Pete
  24. Bl**dy hell! I have never seen pellets that bad before! Glad to hear the shop sorted you out in the end though. Pete
