  1. So how you take this depends on whether you are a pest controller or someone who likes to shoot and eat bunnies as a sport. I often see videos where people despatch myxied rabbits to spare them suffering. The recovery of rabbit populations, as loads of people know is that they are increasingly resistant to the virus. What people don't know so much is that the virus is becoming less dangerous to rabbits at the same time. This is classic evolution by natural selection. The most resistant rabbits produce the most young and the weakest viruses spread the best. I have shot loads of rabbits with healed lesions and scarring around their eyes, so they have survived the virus. So this is the thought, by killing rabbits which have the virus, we might be removing those that are contributing resistance genes to the population. If the function is rabbit control then maybe those are the one we should go for most. For me, I like to think that I can help the populations recover by leaving the ones which have survived! Rabbit haemorrhagic virus will probably get them anyway - next battle for them.
  2. Just unscrew the end, tip and take one out. In a PCP like my hw100, pour into palm and load the may.
  3. I posted this on the WOC a while ago. I have had a lot of help from this forum so thought it might be of interest here. I have an HW100 in 0.22, which comes with two 14 pellet magazines. Normally that is plenty for a night out, pretty much one shot one kill, but I am always worried I might need more pellets. I know, wishful thinking (or bad shooting!). So I was trying to find some sort of pellet carrier that does not rattle or damage the pellet skirts. I found some like that little round leather one, but expensive and little else available. So this is what I came up with a couple of bic 'velocity' biros. Unscrewed the top, removed the ink and nib thing. I can slide 14 pellets into each (Crosman premier ultra magnums). The red are normal round end and the blue hollow tipped. The pens slide beautifully into the pen pockets of my camo jacket and the cap keeps them in place and upright. No damage , no counting, no rattling, no tarnishing and no fluff. There has got to be pens for all pellets somewhere!I am having trouble uploading a photo, says file size is too big, but it's not so here's a link. 4. Thanks for all that, give me two weeks and I will post the first pics. I hope you havn't convinced me to trade in my 100 too...... Cheers for all the comments.
  5. So glad I asked the question! Thanks for all the comments so far
  6. OK, keep going. I am beginning to feel vindicated!!
  7. OK, for the last 35 years I have shot Weirauch rifles with 22. I have just ordered a hw97kt to complement my hw100. Only I have decided to go for 177 since it is flatter out to 35m. The order will go to hull cartridge on Monday so I have two days and cold feet. Accuracy is everything right? So 177 should take down rabbits easily enough. Can I find some experiences from 177 hunters. No problem knocking them over? Anyone using 177 for hunting please convince me I am not being an idiot!!
  8. Iain, got any photos so I can see what it looks like from above?
  9. Thanks for the comments, reckon I'll go for it especially when we are at $1.68 to the £!
  10. That's what I was hoping. If you dont mind me asking, why didn't you like the thumbhole? Was it the Boyds stock design or something of more personal taste? The thumbhole is what I am considering.
  11. I have read quite a few people dropping cz452s into these stocks, sometimes needing a bit of seating, but never found anyone dropping one into a lux. Stocks are for bull barrels so I reckon the barrel of a lux would be really cleaclear of the wood. Anyone know what its like on a lux. Exchange rate is good at the moment. Cheers
  12. I've just shelled out for an NS200. Just fitted it tonight. Seems to be a little tab on the display, I assume that is just a screen protector. Anyone got one who knows before I tear off something I shouldn't! Going to try it tomorrow night with 22LR between rain storms.
  13. I too stick mainly to Eley subs for rabbits. I keep a few T22s for longer range and normally when I am about to stop so the noise doesn't matter. Just allow for a different zero point. There is a mention on Rimfire Central of Fiocchi 0.22lr HV that give good groups with CZ452 but can't seem to find them to try in the UK
  14. I'm interested by what you say but...my field data almost exactly matches Eley's own data (http://www.eley.co.uk/media/367811/new%20eley%20worldwide%20product%20guide%202009.pdf).
  15. I too feed my 452 with Eley subs. Can't fault them out to about 60m but then they don't half start to drop. Zero at 50m, by 70 they have dropped by 50mm and by 80m by 100mm. Beyond that I swap to T22s but they are no where near as accurate and 20% are fliers. Does anyone have any views on pretty accurate supersonic ammo. Stingers make too much noise!
