  1. Nope... Content from this sub forum is published on an RSS feed, which is a publicly discoverable format. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rss My site only republishes the headline, which means that anyone who wants to read the thread, has to come to this site... And therefore drives traffic and potential members to this site. my site gets no gain...
  2. Hi there... matt from Shootclay here. Posts from PW (just the clay shooting section) are posted as headlines on my site, As I say in the description on my forum, PW is one of the most respected sites out there and I am happy if members of ShootClay come and join PW as a result. There is some overlap, but there are also alternative topics and info that are worth sharing. My view is that our sport needs to be MORE together, not less. I am not in competition with anyone, I hope we ALL make it. EDIT - that said, if the mods/owners here want or ask me to switch off my news feeds from here, then I will of course. (I also take feeds from CPSA, ISSF, CA etc)
  3. I had a similar problem last year, maybe not as pronounced - but I did struggle to pick up some crossing targets (I'm 40 something, short sighted and wear single focus glasses all the time). I revised my prescription before Christmas - and it has made a lot of difference - I was half a point down on my right eye (I'm right handed, left eye dominant) I wonder if the new prescription you have is crisp enough, it may be worth geting a free /cheap eye test again to really double check that prescription?
  4. Four Counties as well - just near Newbury http://www.fourcountiesctc.co.uk/
  5. Yep - went through the same cycle myself - shot there quite a lot at the beginning of my learning, and got a bit hacked off with queues and breakdowns. Must get back down there sometime - it is very close to me, and they are a pretty good bunch there.
  6. You are welcome to come over for a hug anytime you think you need one Cat
  7. Just an update on ths - Boris Johnson replied to my open letter - I can't link to my site anymore - so the full text is here: Dear Mr Rutherford, Thank you for your email about the Evening Standard’s report that London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic shooting events would be excluded from the Get Set Ticketshare scheme. I understand your concerns and am happy to clariify that they are based on inaccurate reporting of my position. I do not support a ban on tickets for shooting or any other Olympic or Paralympic sports. It is in my view that is a school pupil can watch a sport on television they should be able to do it in our fantastic Olympic venues, and I have made this view clear to LOCOG. With more than 100,000 tickets available for the shooting events, which sold out very quickly, I have no doubt that the London 2012 Games will raise the profile of these demanding and tense sports in the UK and beyond. Thank you again for writing to me. Yours sincerely, Boris Johnson Mayor of London
  8. Seconded on the black electrical tape - and other shooters have recommended just using Sellotape - very shiny finish...
  9. I'm also hopeful that the Daily Telegraph will carry an article written by me at least online tomorrow.
  10. Dear Mayor, I am writing to express concern at the reported decision to exclude Shooting Events from the forthcoming London 2012 Olympic Ticket giveaway for London schoolchildren – the Ticketshare scheme – as reported in the London Evening Standard. I understand that you believe that including these sports would be at odds with your efforts to reduce gun and knife crime, which we wholeheartedly support and endorse. However, the decision to exclude the target and shotgun sports from Ticketshare must be reconsidered: It will be very disappointing for the athletes preparing to compete in Shooting sports at London 2012, by creating an association between those athletes and the criminals who illegally use firearms. It compounds the decision already made to leave no legacy for shooting sports by staging the events at Woolwich rather than the existing National Shooting Center at Bisley – by discouraging the general public from supporting the shooting sports. It is particularly disappointing to the Team GB athletes who will be training for London 2012 knowing that their sport has been omitted from a scheme to promote the next generation of athletes. Many of the British shooters are young themselves and have been encouraged by previous Team GB medals in shooting sports – what hope do we have for the continued patronage of a sport that Great Britain has enjoyed much success at? The decision creates a spurious and inaccurate connection between the shooting sports and the criminal use of firearms. Are we going to see the same exclusion for Fencing given the ‘clear association’ with illegal use of swords or Archery because of the ‘dangerous connection’ with violence from bows and arrows? Are you also going to exclude the Modern Pentathlon from Ticketshare as it includes pistol shooting as a component sport? Will boxing be excluded because it ‘promotes’ physical violence? I am certain that you do not view these connections as valid, so why are you allowing this peculiar decision to stand? Allowing children to attend these events will ensure that they observe shotgun and target shooting performed at the highest international level, with a high degree of discipline and excellent safety standards. It will also allow them to celebrate a sport that Team GB excels at whilst competing across the world. Ensuring these events are included will send a signal that you support Team GB and the worlds athletes competing at London 2012. Excluding these sports will diminish London 2012 in the eyes of the global shooting and sporting community. We urge you to clarify your position in regards to this decision and reverse the exclusion at the earliest opportunity – the shotgun and target shooting community looks forward to your respons Yours faithfully, Matt Rutherford
  11. I'm thinking of organising a road trip for some buddies to do some Clay Shooting around the country - not decided on an area yet - can anyone recommend hotels that cater for shooters (with gun safes in the hotel or in rooms)? Thanks in advance!
  12. I'd second Le Touquet - nice, little bit 'faded' but real freanc seaside experience... also a nice drive down there.
  13. I'm in - there is definitely a bug in the way FPL works... you click join league, but there is no confirmation.... so you don't know that you've actually joined. Worse still, it only gives you a 'back' button... nice design. Anyway - good luck for the season!
  14. I'm in Maidenhead - get mine from Beesley's in Amersham - 20 minute drive for me, but prices are good... I have been using Eley recently, but I think they have a wider variety, give them a call (01494) 762370 Will watch this thread, in case other shooters have good ideas about Reading.
  15. I think you'll want your number so they can connect your score back to you - but to be fair, mine arrived just a few days after I signed up.
