  1. yes if its fixed choke.but with multi choke guns you change the choke to suit the shell if you are taking feathers out of a lot of birds or chipping clays put a tighter choke in etc etc... i use a fixed choke miroku mk38 1/4 3/4 for both and it loves 30g 6s fed through it on the pigeons. also wouldn;t consider shooting 7 1\2s at pigeons.
  2. 30g 6s decoying. 32g 6s flighting and roost shooting.
  3. good stuff or good stuffing out of them black buggars
  4. same as 25p frozen or fresh shot dont matter place were i take em seems to be about the going rate
  5. i also look over the hide to spot birds you will get a few that appear from behind and see you straight away.but birds in the distance in front of you dont see you straight away and if they shows signs of coming towards the decoys i slowly crouch below and wait for em to ......commit..... it could be you are getting up to soon to shoot in their approach then they will see you and veer off before you get a shot off its about timing and you get that with expeirence.or it could be they have been chased about a few times and they are looking for danger signs from that spot you are shooting.
  6. i bought a pair 2 years ago i have only used them on the rotary about 3 times you need to have a speed control for your rotary otherwise they spin to fast and flap erratically but my control stopped working so haven;t bothered with em since but i somtimes put 1 on a floater and they work very well. but my advice always have 2 dead birds in your freezer and take em out day before you shoot can,t beat real birds.
  7. sent message thanks for that

  13. yes well i;m waitin for your posts later on when they really hit em and you put a double or treble hundred on the site. like you say looked at the peas 3 times now and not worth settin up on cant understand it when rape is in the same area in years gone by literally thousands can be seen
  14. most of them are stock doves they have a green tinge round the necks also they are darker grey than woodies.
  15. went out today to look at some pea fields 4 in one big block 3 weeks running no more than a dozen or so using em.so decided to have a look at a bit of setaside not many on there either.went to another area that has rape its in flower but wanted to see if any bare patches no luck there either.but i noticed a flightline heading over the fields and pitching into a line of trees drove down lane and the trees were bursting with woodies and a good flightline 2 wheat fields bordered the rape also birds landing on fields. set up on wheat fields at 2pm decoys and whirly out had birds come to decoys in no time so shot 2 and 2 fields over about 1000 got up to noise of shots. i thought brilliant wont see them again;wrong they came in like no tomorrow i shot 40 in 1 an half hours. it was thick and fast shooting and strong wind just kept them coming hardly beleive it meself that i had 10 right and lefts dried up at 5.30 but what a session picked 82 lost 6. for 105 carts had i been set up an hour earlier would have made the ton easily.
  16. : or set a side or clover or peas
  17. they are ready to shoot over now as long as there is growth but thats if any birds are using emthe peas i have been looking at.different area are now 10 inches high but had a look at em twice now once when they had just come through surface no pigeons. and last weekend now well up about a dozen on em gonna have another look tomorrow you never know they could have built up to a good number my point is if you don;t go you will never know
  18. just wundering is anybody getting any shooting over peas at the moment? very quiet on the fields i have been looking at recently.
  19. all due respect to you oth its corvid family as a collective term and a crow and a rook are similar in size look similar in flight obvious difference up close rooks have that blue sheen to its plumage and the pale coloured beak. but a pigeon and partridge not even close.anyway well done lindsay good bag
