  1. I don't usually get involved in the comments on the politics of shooting but I obviously keep up to date with what's going on in the world of shooting and it's hard not notice the people who knock basc from pillar to post instead of backing them, basc are not always right but they are trying to counter allsorts of attacks on shooting I'd hate to be in their shoes I really would
  2. We shot today it was miserable manged 32 on barley stubble in 4hrs getting very fed up with this weather now
  3. Ct1 sand the the two edges first with fine grit sandpaper before sticking comes in all colours white, grey, clear, black etc not cheap about £12 a tube but the best stuff I've ever used
  4. You did I didn't want the post rambling on I was hungry and wanted some food
  5. I'm 48 in Nov so still keen and could shoot 8hrs if i had to but if I shoot 100 I feel like that's enough I don't care if I shoot 500 birds in a day 50 is a good bag in my eyes
  6. Are they being honest though 🤔
  7. I had 3 boxes in the car pc but I set myself a certain time to pack up which was 6pm and I had a good bag by that time
  8. Excellent pc expect nothing less from yourself and Bunny_blaster I did exactly the same myself about half a dozen times today
  9. The summer months make up for the lean winter ones and you gotta take advantage while you can and you are doing well done
  10. Was out last weekend managed 20 on sat before the rain came and sun it rained all day non stop I found birds going on stubble in the rain on sun and thought I'll come back today I was late getting out today arrived at the stubble for 1pm not a bird on the field or flighting I was wondering what the hell was going on they were on it in the rain but not on a dry windy day, 30 mins later was like a tap being turned on birds all over the place and coming to the stubble so set up for 2pm steady going for a few hrs then the last hour and half was hectic I decided to call it a day at 6pm I looked at the time it was was 5.45pm took me 15 mins to fire the last box of carts I had in the hide had more in the car but I'd had enough shooting final bag was 121 picked 110
  11. I used medcert last year a bit of a wait but they got it done
  12. i was swapping between the 12g and steel for pigeons and a .410 19g 7 1/2 for the crows and i folded some of them up at silly range for what a .410 is supposed to be capable of if I said the ranges some of them come down people would say I'm exaggerating
  13. Shot the stubble field I made a good bag on 2 weeks ago not a lot moving at 12pm when I got there there was crows on the deck but no flightlines not a sign of a pigeon so looked the other side of the farm again crows on 2 cut grass fields I had a choice of fields to shoot crows on but I wanted some pigeons so back to the stubble to see if any pigeons had arrived and like turning on a tap they started flighting at 1pm the crows were still there as well so set pigeon and crow decoys up it was a carbon copy of the previous shoot a mix of corvids and pigeons had a great 3 hrs of quality shooting then the rain started heavy at 4pm so no choice but to pack up ended with 40 woodies and 30 mixed corvids
  14. Your doing well on that barley keep going
  15. i stand 99.9% of the time with the odd sitting shot you run out of swing when sat down
  16. every shooter up and down the country will be shooting on stubbles very soon
  17. I would 100% rather set up on a field you can pick everything and drive across, I was just saying there was more on offer if I could of shot the main line 👍
  18. Same as last week I had to shoot a field the birds did not want I looked at this area last week and they were going on the standing wheat and barley but I chose not to shoot over standing crops there is a grass field bordering the wheat and that was waste height and thick but today it had been cut so I knew I could pull birds over to it from the standing crops and so that's how it went all afternoon the main bulk of birds did not want to pull off the line to the crops and it was only 100 yards to my right but i pulled enough over to the cut grass field with the rotary the shooting was top notch in this wind end with a good bag but yet again would of had 3 figures on the other field picked 82 and lost 8
  19. Totally agree its my favourite type of shooting
  20. Set out looking for birds on laid crops found birds going in standing crops but wouldn't pick most of them so headed to another farm this is a mixed farm dairy beef cattle some sheep a field of whole crop had been harvested on it bearing in mind this is the only stubble in the area immediately I saw pigeons and crows flighting into it birds on the deck the farmer was working at bottom of the field so had a quick chat told him what I was doing he said crack on, set up at an oak halfway down the field set a spread of crow and pigeon decoys up pigeon on the flapper a crow on the floater it started with a pigeon then a crow then a pigeon nice and steady getting mixed shooting but the pigeons started coming in faster so I set the rotary up I knew it put off the crows but a good pigeon bag looked on they started piling in I had 40 in an hour and half plus 10 crows then an old boy on a quad came up the field and straight over to the farmer at bottom of field I thought here we go a complaint farmer came over and said i know your having a good day but can you stop shooting because I'm scaring this guys horses which I couldn't see anywhere in the vicinity I agreed reluctantly, (peed off as well) I'd seen were a few flightlines had been passing over one of the grass fields behind so I headed there well away from any horses I managed another 30 on the grass using a rotary to pull them in range of me I could see birds heading to the stubble I'd just been on from there none stop from all over the place and I just kept thinking I would of doubled the bag over there I picked 70 and 10 mixed blacks
  21. I dids say on your last post that you would get another go at them and more than likely you will get another go on them keep watching the field
  22. That's pigeon shooting you can see nothing for months on end then all of a sudden they turn up and thats not a bad way to end a drought I'll bet you will get another go on there
