  1. haven't been able to resize pics last few weeks for some reason so not managed to post them, still been out on the old barley stubbles though and had some good afternoons shooting and today was by far the best in recent weeks strong N/W wind blowing and plenty flighting down a belt of trees and a wood behind a stubble field they were very reluctant to pull off the flightline and into decoys but gave some brilliant shooting on the wind at passing birds, some of the trickiest shooting i can ever remember they just wouldn't stay on a course and fly in a straight line the amount of birds that changed course as i was swinging through and pulling trigger was unreal ending up shooting at thin air quite a lot but when you connected it was a memorable shot. shot from 12.30pm till 4.30pm with 76 on the clicker and picked 60 2 feral and a jackdaw the other pic is a 50 bag from a few weeks ago
  2. do you want to know why because you are peeing people off
  3. ok you might have better grammar and put me right on that but, i'll pass on the help with shooting matters
  4. a i don' t think he has that in his armoury end of
  5. had a look at the field we shot 154 last sat good wind blowing hardly any birds flighting carried on to another area we have been getting success on that was the same the odd bird flighting spent 2 hrs looking around and decided to head back to the first field we looked and sure enough they were flighting well only trouble the wind would be in our face at the only spot we could set up due to roads got in position for 3pm and in action from the off its always awkward for birds to decoy and tricky shooting when the wind is in your face but managed to bag a few finished just after 5pm with 60 picked 54
  6. they will be somewhere trust me maybe off your route or a few miles this way or that way but they will be in the area as motty says just because people are not seeing them on a certain patch doesn't mean they are not there
  7. Straight lines or a heap doesn't matter to me lol
  8. shot a local barley stubble that had started to be cut yesterday part of the field was left due to it being to wet , the birds where going on this field when it was standing the only laid patches right in middle of the field, would of lost to many to shoot it, so we knew we would get them on the stubble once it had been cut so straight to the field at 11am watched it for 30mins and birds were flighting not a strong line but knew it would pick up later on got set up at 12pm and shooting straight away was steady at first then picked up as the day wore on called it a day at 5pm with 154 on the clicker picked 130 on the nose lost quite a few in the thick undergrowth behind that backed onto a railway line with a fence we couldn't get over to pick them
  9. I was thinking that but didn't say it 🤣
  10. No like you say they come and go I'm not denying that, but because we are persistent and out every weekend looking they eventually turn up, and this year has been the exception because it's usually better than it has been
  11. I'm in the northwest and we don't have the amount of birds there are in a lot of other counties but there's enough when you find them we do ok by looking around and knowing where to look and which farm to look at a certain time of year and a certain time of day then keep looking and then look some more I said look quite a bit in that post
  12. I don't go out everyday I work 5 days a week and I have a life trust me I'll admit the first 7 months this year have been terrible and I don't shoot big bags everytime I set up, had 5 consecutive days of 20 somethings last month when I was on a 2 week break, it's only the last 2 shoots we hit over the 60 mark
  13. same here i finished shooting at 6.15pm on sat last thing i wanted do is lay them out in neat rows i was tired and hungry and still had to pack up then drive home oh and does it really matter if they put in a heap or put in rows i mean come
  14. well the ones that make decent bags quite regulary must be smarter than you then, by going off what you have been saying about being unsuccesful most the time you go out he was being sarcastic motty
  15. found one in the field on the way back to the car but already took the pic
  16. well don't tell anyone there;s only 56 in the pic and not 57 👍
  17. nice one pc i see the ocd is getter better 😉
  18. there is a lot young birds about around here at the min as well
  19. two of us ended up shooting same farm as last sat where we shot 80 but it was further down the farm totally different field, this barley stubble was cut last monday while we shot 20 birds nearby, the wind was right for the field but the birds were flighting over a large birchwood with the wind to the field and not against it but they turned into the wind as they got over the stubble and back towards the wood so set up at 2pm on the face of the wood and they came screaming past from behind with the wind then turned into it towards the decoys started off slow then gradually picked up as the afternoon wore on i moved further down the wood to flight birds for a while then ended up back in the hide for the last hour which was the best hour we lost birds behind in the dense ferns and birch trees behind us and estitmated 68 down and picked 57 shot the last bird at 6.10pm then it stopped completely edited it to give the carts a mention i normally use RC high performance 32g steel 4s but recently switched over to gamebore super steel 32g steel 5s and i,m well impressed with them killing birds out 50 yards no problem at all and there isnt as much recoil as a lot of other steel carts
  20. well i used to put them in nice neat rows i just cant be bothered now lol
  21. this year has been a write off for 7 months, birds disappeared from the rape early on, couldn't shoot the drillings due to lockdown then no laid crops come the summer, had to wait for stubble, it didn;t really get any better if we found birds on stubble they gave you a few hrs shooting then just dry up on and stop coming chipped away at them and come away with mainly 20 something bags not complaining but that isn't the norm, today wasn't looking good until i stopped off at a piece of land near the motorway on the way home found a good flightline immediatlely , it was heading over a small stubble to a field of standing barley directly behind it off our boundary so just got set up for 2pm on the hedge line with our backs to the standing crop with the whirly and decoys birds came in straight away a lot of flighting shots at birds not decoying but that mixed it up a bit lost a fair few that dropped in the standing crop behind us and birds we knocked feathers out of that flew to various trees and copses we counted at the end 82 down but picked 66 and 1 crow very happy with that result and great shooting on the wind today added a few pics of the smaller bags from this month
  22. whats wrong with them ? they are brilliant its worth using them on any crop anytime of the year
