  4. Hi Brian, try this place.. very friendly Sporting, DTL, Skeet....£7 50 clays £4 box of shells http://www.cawdorclaypigeonclub.co.uk/aboutus.html not too far from Elgin. and One of the best gun shops in the north is http://www.rmacleod.co.uk/ regards Sako85243
  5. Perhaps its just me but that isn't quite as easy as its made out 1 hand holding fore end which is either pointing skyward or down range other hand cycles action.....3 rd hand....er catch's ejected shell its a bit of a juggling act. cheers Sako85243
  6. Hi, I had a go at a DTL practice with my Benelli (LH Ejection port) and to be honest did not feel too comfortable with the looks I was getting...its actually the gun I use for pigeons and geese...so has a cammo pattern  Anyway I just wanted to see how it would do, I was only using 1 shell at a time and loading immeciately before I fired...however wondered if I had been using 2 shells and hit using 1st one what would be etiquette with 1 shell still unfired in chamber ?....I personally know I am safe with gun vertical and safety on but dont think other members on detail would be happy...think I'll stick with the O/U for the moment. cheers Sako85243
  7. Thats good to know as some of my local clay grounds are steel only, just a bit worried by what was in the book, and wonder why dont they just say all ok for no bigger than 4 didn't want my new gun ruined 2nd time out also found this when trawling the web for a definitive answer http://www.gamebore.com/page.php?id1=2&id2=1 thanks Sako85243
  8. Hi all, guess some of you might have knowledge of or experienced this..... Can I put steel 28 gr 7.5's through my gun without wrecking it. It is fixed choke 3/4 and full (Miroku mk 38)...the book says max for steel is 1/2 choke. B) I know a guy who shot 1000 steel carts through his mk 38 and experienced absolutely no problems any opinions thanks Sako85243
  9. Thanks for the explanations guys thats a lot clearer now dont think I'll be spending 50+K  to experience self or easy opening shotgun anytime soon. cheers Sako85243
  10. Agree that the 222 is getting pushed aside I have no probs geting ammo for mine though, and for Roe in Scotland it does the biz nicely http://www.rmacleod.co.uk/ammunition/.222.html regards Sako85243
  11. Hi All, doing some trawling round the web and was looking at some nice guns at astronomical prices by boss, H+H, Purdey etc....the term self opening keeps coming up,googled this term but could find nothing so what does it actually mean? I 'aint thick (I think) but I cant make sense of it !! so whats the answer thanks Sako85243
  12. No L/H trap guns new or 2nd hand in stock in Tain at the mo' Will look at Miroku 38 hopefully reasonably straight stocked next I hate having a **** right eye :( Sako85243
  13. Hi Phil, yes a trip to Tain is on the cards now...think I am going to have to go the 2 gun route. Gonna have to buy a bigger cabinet too !!....lottery win needed. thanks Sako85243
  14. [quote The best thing you can do is both go along to a gunshop and try a trap gun together. you'll be wasting your time with a comb that is too low as it will lead to head lifting off the stock in order to see the target. Phil Thanks for this Phil, bit of a quandry really my son is 5ft 9 1/2 and still growing I'm over 5'10 he can easily handle my gun the problem is he's right handed, I'm right handed but left shoulder due to eye problem. I really dont know much about gun fit to tell if a straight stocked trap gun would do him and me. I'll take a look at macleods because that is fairly local to me and the chap who owns it is quite knowledgable and may be able to advise. may just have to save up and get 2 trap guns thanks Sako85243
  15. No ideas from experienced clay shooters in the words of Victor Meldrew..." I dont believe it " !! thanks Sako85243
