    Angry Inuk

Green peace had a huge campaign against seal hunting many years ago. It was primarily against young seals from the east coast of Canada. It worked! But also DESTROYED any living the Eskimos made from Seals in the Arctic. Many years later greenpeace said they were sorry and that was not what they intended. Too late, damage done. The seals on the east coast have exploded in populatin and are now affecting fish stocks. But : what the hell, they are only screwing with some country hicks lives on the other side of the globe. Seems similar to messing with African countries and their elephants.
  3. Three in the bag today. We have feral pigeons here. They hang around grain bins and empty buildings. I check yards several times a week. There are often a few stragglers sitting on a roof. If they wait long enough they catch a .22 lead pill. If I have the shotgun I also shoot them sitting. They are a filthy dirty bird and sporting rules don’t apply.
  4. Having lived and worked in Egypt my advise is:be careful. DO NOT get involved with random people in any way. Keep walking and do not engage. If you are familiar with the phrase “I’ve been gypped” I believe it originated in Egypt.
  5. In Canada and USA we have had to use steel/ bismuth or whatever for over 20 years. Only on waterfowl, not Huns or grouse. The loads seem to have been perfected for waterfowl. Waterfowlers have adapted and no one complains anymore. There are loads effective to over 60 yards on geese. They are similar in price to lead so that doesn’t seem to be an issue. Youngsters don’t even remember using lead.
  6. Don’t think so! Why? Don’t think so! Why? I see you are interested in aircraft. I have a c170 now , a c188 and Beaver in the past.
  7. 7 ferals here in Saskatchewan. Not sure they count.
  8. I went to a fairly large and well known shop. I asked them to order me a case of 24 ga. The clerk then began to argue that there was no such ga.and I was thinking 28 ga. I asked him to look through his ammo catalogue but he refused. I called another dealer who had two cases delivered to me in a week. Some people shouldn’t deal with the public.
  9. Canada stopped printing $1000.00 bills. This was to prevent drug traffickers from easily moving large amounts of cash. It has obviously worked extremely well.🤔
  10. I had a Browning double automatic. Only held two shells but after firing next one loaded went straight to chamber. Very fast loading. Most people thought I had a three shot. Shot it for years. Finally wore badly and wouldn’t cycle properly. It got sold.

    Savings ???.

All income of any amount Must be declared on income tax form. You can forget to declare a pension but must live with consequences if caught. A simple audit of your bank account and survey of your lifestyle will catch a lot of people. Seems easy to hide income but not very. Remember the old saying: don’t steal more than you can pay back.

    Savings ???.

Someone mentioned a means test to receive a government pension. In Canada our old age security pension is reduced at 80 thousand taxable and all gone by 120 taxable. This is a pension every citizen gets starting at 65 regardless of working income. The other pension is based on contributions from employment income and varies. The total of both will give you a very bare existence. So savings and a job pension are important. Of course many people made no preparations for retirement and end up on welfare or such,
  13. Land Cruiser all the way. Worked in Egypt: we had about 30 land cruisers on the crews.Half diesel and others gas. If the local drivers couldn’t break them they will certainly last for regular driving. I’ve had two and were indestructible. They are getting a little pricy though.
  14. Didn’t Archie Coates shoot over 1200 on his best day? Alone!
  15. It seems to be a recurring theme; start work early and save money,a bit of privation in your younger years. Pays off big time later in life. That is mostly what I did. Now I am retired and friends my age are not. Some have even mentioned they wish they had saved and worked harder earlier. But during those early years they had to hang with friends and drink beer.
  16. An article on the web . UK military lost a few machine guns and pistols , plus several thousand rounds of ammo. Someone’s *** is in trouble. I am sure a responsible citizen will return them in if found.
  17. I have a Swazi Wapati. Water resistant not proof I suspect. We don’t get a lot of rain here . We do get wind and cold. It is great for warmth in those conditions. I think pit zips would be a good addition but Swazi feels it moves enough moisture as is. For my use would rate 8.5/10

    Coronation.

BRAVO. A fabulous historic pageant. From Canada: Long live the king
  19. A duck shot high over decoys. Flew off and fell dead over 200 yds off. Sent my lab ,Jack off on a blind retrieve. Sixty yards swimming, got out and looked back at me for a line. Went on over a ridge and out of sight. Came back in sight and stopped for another line. Then straight to the duck. My best dog ever and even a bit famous in the area. RIP Jack
  20. Longer colder winters, growing seasons shorter: Exactly what I remember from the late sixties All forecast to be happening shortly. But it never did. How do so many people forget so quickly? We are drowning in bull****.
  21. Thank you. John from uk. Our system is quite similar. Elected, low remuneration and most doing it to help their communities.
  22. Educate me on your councils. Is everyone elected? For how long? Who is eligible? How much are they paid? Is it a full time position or part time. Does it run both countryside and towns/villages?
  23. Just watched the last program. Restaurant opened and moving on. As you English folk would say : BRILLIANT! Hoping for many more.
  24. Just finished watching episode where the planning commission refuses application. We are avid watchers of the series from our farm in western Canada. How does anything get done in England with all the bull**** you must deal with? It is similar in that rural people dislike change. A lot of it is jeaulosy. But I can put a building up without anyone’s permission. A restaurant has-food safety requirements but little more. I know the show is made for television but the issues are real. I hope it educates a few city people. My great grandfather made a wise choice to leave Scotland 150 years ago. Or I might be stuck there dealing with the BS.
