what to use to get my dog used to guns
Outlander replied to dando44's topic in Dogs and Dog Training
When we were out on a walk when i was getting my spaniel used to gun fire I would get her to sit next to me and point my stick shotgun style in the air and say bang , after a couple of weeks or so working up to a shout, never try to go too fast with it and try to make it an enjoyable experience for the dog. -

I think your a little bit late for this Boys!! -
Ive been feeding my spaniel on a mix of raw (natures menu, raw chicken wings & bones) & chudleys biscuit since we've had her (8 now) , I also give her a cod liver oil tablet now and again which I get from sainsburys. Took me a while to get the amount of food per day right and will vary when shes out working a lot.

I was using a modified golf trolley for while until a fishing barrow came up which i now use for all my long walks, but I have come to realise how much kit I don't need every time so over the last few years I have really cut down what I take and it has had no detrimental effect on my pigeon shooting, mind you I only need to take 10 carts every time!! Are Lincolnshire birds as thick as Essex birds?
Outlander replied to JDog's topic in Talk From The Field
Bedfordshire birds are no better , Ive got two fields of peas that have been drilled for ten days now and ive hardly seen any activity at all over them. -
Whilst out having a look for the weekend I spotted a couple of farmers drilling, so hopefully there will be a few birds about.

I use natures menu ( not the fish one as it goes straight through) but not every day, chicken wings , duck necks , chudleys kibble , mixed veg make up a mixed and varied diet that my spaniel goes well on.
-
And what do you use it for?? Outlander.
-
I use them but they need a good wind to make the work though, but work they do and I never go decoying without them.
