  1. might be starting another discussion, but i have read that some 'cheap' chinese copy scopes are OK. apperently these scopes that are 'copies' of names such as bushnell, are actually the real thing without the badge. I have a scope like this and it seems pretty good. This site has quite a few on: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13012.
  2. Hi, I am possibly having problems with my falcon FN19, with quick fill silencer. Wondered if anyone knows about them. I have only used it a handful of times for practice. I had it filled at a gun shop once, then bought a pump to fill it with. Despite strong warning from the previous owner not to do this, i pulled the fill adapter out without discharging the pump, nearly wet myself! Also gave the scope a minor knock, while the gun was in its case. The next time i used the gun it seemed to be low on power and not accurate. When i tried filling it up it was loosing pressure around the fill adapter. Took it the gun shop. He took the quick fill adapter off, and no problems with leaks when filling. when he measured the power it measured at 6.7 ish, but then his other rifles also measured to low, so there's a problem with his chronograph. next time i tried the rifle it seems to be working fine once the scope is set up. But i still suspect the power is a bit low. So: Has anyone had trouble with quick fill adapters leaking? Is it likely to damage the valves if the pressure in the pump is released too quickly? Whats the most reasonably priced chronograph you can get? Does anyone know how to adjust the power on these rifles? How silent is an unsilenced airgun to your prey? It seems pretty quiet without the silencer on. Can anyone recomend or sell me a better silencer than the one i have? Its rubbish!! Do i need some sort of dust cap for the filling valve when i dont hav the quick fill silencer on? Thanks, Michael P.S please excuse my ignorance/lack of knowledge i am only a newbie.
  3. Try: http://www.singletrackworld.com/ and http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/ both have loads of stuff going. I would advise scouring for a few days rather than posting a wanted ad, as you will get a better deal that way. Never ridden a full sus, but had a few hardtails. Kinesis Maxlight, on-one, merlin. On-one 456 (inbred, summer season) are good bikes. Available in steel and Ti, the geometry is perfect for relaxed cross country riding. Very well designed frames. Alongside a good pair of forks, Rockshox revelations and pikes are good from my experience, and some heavyweight XC wheels (thats heavyweight as in strong), Hope hubs -mavic 719 rims are what i use. Good luck Mike
  4. sorry dont seem to have one would you mind sending again please. Thanks, Michael
  5. Hi, Has anyone got a pump? or divers bottle? Cheap as possible. Pump needs to have a moisture trap fully working to 200bar. bottle needs to be in date with hose again fully working and not thrown about. Thanks, Michael
  6. Thanks people for the advice. PWs are a friendly bunch. I got a Falcon FN19, and still looking for somewhere to shoot.
  7. Hi, Thanks on the advice to the Newbie air gunner. I have a falcon FN19 Mk2, with pretty skeleton stock, quick fill silencer and tactical type scope. Anyway, looking at recharge possibilities, i was strongly advised by my seller not to get a pump but get a dive bottle. I will be travelling to my shooting areas by bike or foot so 11kg of dive bottle looks a bit hefty. Is a pump such a bad idea? I was told i am in for a heart attack? My second hobby is cycle racing so i would count 15minutes of airgun recharging training. Are they likely to damage the gun? (moisture etc). Is a second hand one a bad idea? Ideally i would like a bottle to fill up at home and a pump to take out with me. Would buying a second hand bottle not be good either? Thanks, Michael
  8. Wanted: PCP air rifle. Not sure about .177 or .22 so either. I will also need a pump (preferably or bottle) Good scope silencer. Budget is £400. Thanks, Michael
  9. Sorry for jumping in there without even introducing myself. Thanks for explaining the .177 .22 argument, i am not intending to bruise anything, i was trying to describe my unexperienced scientific knowledge behind it. (although i do remember doing an A-level project measuring the velocoity of a air rifle slug by shooting a model railway carriage, based on momentum theory) In terms of budget looking at no more than £400. Definetely looking at precharged What are people's opinion on buying second hand? are there likely problems with a second hand PC rifle? Whats a good scope? The one i saw on a second hand rifle in the shop was about £50 worth. As for lamps, homemade bike lights, 700lumen LED lamps. Ive used these for a bit of shooting before. Does anyone think farmers around Bradfield parish let people shoot on their land? Cheers guys, Mike
  10. Hi, Its probably that ever so repeated question....: Im looking for an air rifle (not licensed), for shooting rabbits, pigeons, squirrels (because its good free meat). Narrowing it down a bit, i had thought of getting a weihrauch gas ram, but have been going towards a pre-charged rifle, for stealthiness. I have been thinking of getting a second hand one, but want to know what to watch out for. What are there wearable parts on a precharged rifle, seals etc and Gas ram rifles? If a shop is selling second hand would they normally service it before hand? Ive seen an aiarms precharged rifle for £340 in a shop with scope, magazine, moderator, not sure what model, think its S200. What models/ makes would people recomend, ive seen huge numbers of rifles on guntraders.co.uk but really dont know what to look for. Also, Whats people's advice on trying to find somewhere to shoot rabbits. there's a few arable crop fields near me but got no-idea how to find who owns them. Cheers, Mike Also Whats the deal with .22 or .177? Surely .177 faster and makes better holes, .22 slower but bigger bruises? both same energy?....
