  1. Probably a bit early for mackerel and I suspect may rot will be arriving in Dorset soon - have a look at WSF for the best chance of an up to date report.
  2. Don’t get my started on osteopaths - made up nonsense without medical training and very often have links to anti-vax / “alternative medicine” / absolute nonsense with no scientific basis and people are daft enough to pay them to perform their rituals.
  3. The cheap Norris lines are ok - they need to be given a good stretch after being on the reel for a while - ideally on a huge trout but in my case a fence post. They tend to have more memory than my Rio lines but considering some of the Norris lines I have were about £3 they are really good value - much better than mill end lines etc
  4. Fly line is where you should spend most of the money on a set up. my recommendation would be Rio, but they are expensive. Their “in touch” lines with no stretch are very good.
  5. If the anti-Vax retards think that that report supports their fairy tail understanding of science and statistics then they are even more stupid than I thought.

    India

Because they are lying communists and wouldn’t tell the world if they had after unleashing this pandemic on the world.
  7. I am planning on going if my 5 year old daughter wants to come and have a walk around with me.
  8. Same around here, gangs of them often 3 or 4 abreast. Cause no end of trouble for tractors as they can’t overtake and the Lycra so and so’s just don’t give a monkey’s. could do with a farmer turning his much spreader on and passing them with it on. They also have a very annoying habit of constantly shouting to each other. They ride very expensive road bikes, some poor engineer has shaved grammes off every component and then these blokes ride them to the pub or the cafe and eat cakes that weigh more than the engineer saved. I do a reasonable amount of cycling, but on my own and I would never consider trying to force large fast moving metal things to do anything, I keep out of the way.
  9. Thanks Henry - plan was nets if necessary, Avon so soft, Smidge and DEET so hopefully those in some sort of combination will work!
  10. Thanks - a useful tip. I need to get some more hackles which are closer to the right size as I only have ones which are a little too larger for these and much too large for anything smaller.
  11. I often get them to hang up if I’m in the mood to entertain myself. Asking them what they are wearing works well
  12. I had three scam calls yesterday in about 5 min. One I answered was an ambulance chaser about a non fault car accident, when asked when it was all he could tell me was “in the last two years” - I told him he was fishing and hung up - he then had the cheek to try to call me straight back! The block feature on mobiles is very useful.
  13. Considering a holiday up to the western highlands in August. Two considerations - is the fishing on the Orchy any good? Apparently 300 salmon a year so better than anything south of the wall. Hopefully some nice brownies too. Secondly, midges…I have conflicting views from “they are just part of the holiday” to “ you won’t even be able to see your hand in front of your face and will be eaten alive” - anyone have a balance view of the little so and so’s?
  14. Ahem, living in the middle of Stilton land with 3 creameries in the villages next to me, Stilton is not just Stilton… they vary an awful lot - if you like a really creamy Stilton which isn’t quite so over powering, the smallest (and therefore most expensive) creamery - Colston Bassett is the one the try - really nice.
  15. Here too...the cocker runs around like a loon chasing them and they nest in our hedges which winds the dogs up more.
  16. It is daft really, Chris Witty, Patrick Vallance and JVT should have just asked a load if blokes who go shooting to look on the internet and see how we should deal with the pandemic. Just trust scientists, there is no motive for them to do anything other than protect people. No conspiracies. The only conspiracies are the loons who are anti-vax, anti-5G and Covid deniers. The UK has done a brilliant job at dealing with Covid and when the post mortem happens, of course there will be things that could have been done better with hindsight but overall we have probably achieved the best outcome, that is not to distract from the thousands of deaths, each one a tragedy. Here’s a good analogy for those who think face masks are not needed and can’t be bothered to read the science.
  17. An RTO test is the most exciting - heat pack and brakes are allowed to be on fire and melt...makes it exciting in the test house!
  18. I used to make aircraft braking systems - usually given away to the constructors for free and the the spare / wearable parts are sold at huge margins.
  19. Going unused sat in the garage as I never need to carry the amount of gear it hold and prefer to travel light. Also good for lure fishing (which is actually what I bought it for). Good condition, some minor evidence of use on a couple of zips but all zips still work and use of foam fly pockets. chest freezer and assorted garage detritus not included £35 posted
  20. Very good, hardly used it as never needed to carry as much kit as it holds - I’ll sort some pics when the dog gets off my lap.
  21. The whole front section is removable so you can use it as just a backpack
  22. an example from a quick search - toy / replica military kit mish mashed together and worn and played with by grown men running around pretending to be soldiers. Just sign up (or try to). This one is particularly odd with the bloke having ready made tie wraps as if he thinks he’s going to capture Bin Laden. this one is even more amusing and sadly appears to be British
