My generation of worker started work at the age of 15 and worked for 50 years before drawing pension . Because of the business model of the unis and the govs idea of keeping the figures low on unemployment .We now seem to have many unavailable for work until they are twenty plus.Could they still be only working for fifty years just starting work older making them older to draw pension .

Had plenty of four year old cars that had full service history that must have not had wheels removed .( I think main dealers just used inspection slots in back plates and visual inspection thru wheel spokes to check brakes) When I serviced vehicles it was all wheel and drums plus pads removed and cleaned . Sometimes had to tell owners that we had to take up to an hour to remove wheels . Got to a point that I warned the customer about the problem before the booking the the car in, to avoid nasty situations when it came to paying the bill I would call them to give them the chance to come to the garage inspect the job themselves. To be honest one of reasons I sold up .

Started work in a garage at 15 was drummed into me to never leave car in gear and always waggle gearstick for neutral before starting up. While doing the tappets on a mini we used to use the solenoid to turn the motor but the lad that drove the mini onto the pit left it in gear so as I straddled across the pit and pressed the solenoid the blumming mini pushed me forward and trapped me against a barrel it was a good job I had removed the spark plugs and the ignition was off .Cos I could have been pushed into next week. 😄

If you look at my post I am commenting on the state pension . to be as brutal as you its of no business of your's how I fund my retirement . One other thing the pensioners pound supports a hell of a lot of local businesses who in turn pay taxes.

I started to pay my contribution to the state at the age of 15 . My dad worked as a miner (Beven boy ) until he was made redundant at 57 died at the ripe old age of 59. Do I feel any shame drawing my state pension ? not blumming likely .

well I got my very last dog 6 years ago when I was 65 . Getting my next last dog in 2 weeks time . Always had springers 9 up to date but this one is a cocker hope I can make a good job of her . She will be working with Dotty my youngest spaniel so her name can't start with D cos I think dogs only hear the first letter of the name when in working mode. So my wife has named her Jess = J .
