  1. Had all sorts of various colours in rabbits over the years including ginger ones like in your post. Black , silver , brown , ginger , even piebald with white patches and blue eyes.
  2. I phoned Ratcherman last night to see if he wanted to have a look out on the lamp to one of my permissions as 4 hay fields had been cut. I told him to bring his rifle and I would be lamp man. We lamped the cut fields and to my surprise saw nothing on them Then a roe doe burst through a hedge quickly followed by a buck in hot pursuit. We watched them for around 5 minutes or so to see if the buck got his leg over as he was right up her *** but I then caught the ruby eyes of a fox in the next field which was uncut. I squeaked and it screamed in to around 40 yds , Ratch dropped it with his .22/250 No 1 in the bag. Lamped the other fields and still saw nothing so went back to where the 1st fox was shot and I spied another.. Another squeak and again this one flew in to around 80 yds ... No 2 in the bag We then lamped the cut fields again and spotted another , 70 yards away No 3 in the bag. Next field was another , squeaked this one in to about 15 yards , No 4 in the bag. A really good night , great calling and shooting seeing as could only lamp about 1/4 of the farm. Rang farmer today and hes cut another 3 fields today so its out again tomorrow night to pick up some more
  3. As always Brilliant !!! Awesome scenery , wish I could move up there
  4. I know it was shocking !!! Just goes to show how dumb this years cubs can be , rifle has a mod fitted and it was practically dark ...
  5. I missed a fox cub at around 20 yards at the weekend off sticks going for a headshot :o So I checked the zero of my rifle last night and it was firing 2 inches high so corrected it and set about for a wander.. Just on dark I spotted a fox mousing in a fresh cut hay field , I managed to sneek up on it to around 60 yards. Once again shooting off sticks I missed it not only with 1 shot but 3 :o I have been shooting very well this year up to now but this little episode has done my head in , I don't like shooting off sticks at the best of times. Think I need an eye test  Has anyone else gone through a bad patch , stories please , to cheer me up if nothing else..

  12. The wife and daughter went shopping yesterday so I rang a farmer to ask if he'd cut any fields and he replied "a few" so I arranged to pop over and see if I could get any rabbits.. One particular hedgerow had a few sitting along its edge when I arrived so I duly stalked into them and took 7 in no time. There wasn't as many about as previous years but I kept picking up the odd 1 here and there .. I kept going back to the original hedge and on each visit managed to pick up a few more As I lined up on 1 rabbit I could see another immediately behind it , I took the shot and got 2 for the price of 1 .... At the end of the day it turned out to be a good result
