  1. Good bag remmy , hope the farmer calls you back. Nothing worse than watching a field get hammered and the farmer tells you he has regular shooters that never turn up until the spring drilling starts.
  2. dangermouse i used 10 sillosocks to start, then the first two i shot went on the rotary.
  3. I was shooting in my t-shirt today , that cannot be right for the first week in feb. Shot 27 between 3 and 4.30pm. I used the sillosocks i won at christmas and they look the business and pulled the pigeons well. I was decoying a rape field today that has been well hammered , and the farmer was well pleased , so not a bad day all round.
  4. you must get a canny discount for that many . I bought 1000 clear pigeon there yesterday @£134 , which i thought was reasonable.
  5. You buy your cartridges from bywell remmy ?.
  6. Yes it has been known pin , i just did'nt want to sound like an alki.
  7. When i'm out its guinness , but if i stay in its broon ale or red death ( mcewans export ) , which is also very nice on draught.
  8. I have used 1/4 + 3/4 for a long time and its fine for me , its just what you feel confident with i suppose. I will be putting clear pigeon 30g no6 , which i bought at bywell today (1000 @ £134) through them tomorrow , with a bit of luck.
  9. I have seen alot of pigeons on rape in my patch in the last week. Will be having a go tomorrow , now the game season is over i have more land to have a go at. A mate shot some roosting last night and most of their crops were packed with rape , so i'm quite hopeful about tomorrow.
  10. It looks like you had a cracking day out , i'm well envious , well done
  11. Come on BD you've been on the site long enough to read up on these things. 10 deeks will get you going 20 would be better, a magnet is a plus ,as is anything that adds movement to your pattern ( flapper ,pecker). The pattern , the standard is a horseshoe shape facing into the wind , but you can change this , just experiment until you are happy.
  12. You could buy 24 shells for the price of 10 flocked shells. I have 10 and yes they are good , but to be honest i'm not looking to buy anymore.
  13. If its your first then take the points and the fine , if your heading towards 12 points , you have to look at your options : Are you married / girlfriend , someone who will take the blame , try and drag the process out by filling the form in wrong. Speed cameras are a total pain in the *** ,so good luck.
  14. 12-15 decoys to get you started is fine, just keep adding shot birds to the pattern ( i'm sure you know that already). If your happy with your shell decoys and they pull pigeons , then stick with them. you can try glueing wings on your full bodied deeks , which works well.
  15. I always wear a face mask when shooting pigeons. I understand when people say stay behind your hide until the last second , then rise and shoot , but how many times have you been standing checking the sky when a pigeon comes unseen to your decoys, not many if it can see your face.
  16. Your spot on there pin , we have a farmers market once a month in Berwick , all the pies and sausages are gone in the first hour.
  17. R.I.P . reading your threads John was obviously a nice chap , god bless to his family.
  18. Interesting point farmer , I have a splash which i feed wheat with good results .
  19. Cheers Cranfield , i'll post a report once i've tried them. The Hitman.
  20. James 007 welcome , nice to have another toonie on board.
  21. My old man had three pigeons coming to his bird table eating mostly peanuts. I was decoying a field less than a mile from his house , yes you guessed it i shot a pigeon packed with peanuts. I had'nt the heart to tell him ,but three had become two on his bird table. Funny what you find in their crops. Hawkeye if the wheat was clean then from a feeder , dirty then a stubble field.
  22. probably found a pheasent feeder .
  23. Went for a recce yesterday, nothing on OSR . Plenty pigeons feeding on hawthorn berries. Not even enough wind for a spot of roosting.
  24. A quick thank you to shootwarehouse , for donating the prize for the christmas competition. I received my sillosock decoys today , they will be put to good use once the pigeons find the OSR in my area. Thanks Will for a cracking prize and a very speedy delivery. The Hitman.
