  1. I went through this process myself a little while ago. Still scraping last bit of use out of some geolanders, but settled on the bf urban terrain when I do replace them. Have a look at them, think they're aggressive enough for the little bit of off tarmac you're talking about, but also well suited to normal driving as well.
  2. I believe the subaru has a similar set up, hence the presence of a plug above the rear wheel arch to provide an existing, dedicated connection into the vehicles electronics for use when towing. From what I've learned so far, I think it's more the cutting of the bumper that worries me more than the electrics. Some towbars seem to involve a none visible cut, seems to be the removable versions that offer this. Wondering whether that cut is more to do with the wiring rather than the bar itself and tucked away on the bottom of the bumper, but struggling to confirm as nothing on the net to demonstrate exactly what it involves.

    Browning BPS 10b

Looking for the 10 bore version of the bps. Ideally an older wood and blued steel version, rather than the realtree wrapped model. Anything out there that members know about?
  4. Thanks for the response, that's really helpful. I've been looking at the actual hardware kits as well this morning and most seem to suggest bumper removal and potentially bumper cutting is required. If either is true then it would be a none starter for me, but there was none of that on the footage I've watched. Wondering what the actual truth is?
  5. Does anyone have any experience of retro fitting a towbar to a vehicle? I have a 2013 Subaru forester that would benefit from a towbar. I had initially thought setting up the electrics would be too much for me, noting that having someone do the work seems to be around £700+, including the necessary parts. But a trawl around google and YouTube suggests people are doing it themselves. I was most interested to learn that there is a specific towbar electrics plug located under the rear plastics in the boot of the forester. I had visions of having to run wires right down to the front of the vehicle somehow, hence the expertise and costs involved. However it appears from the videos I've seen that it's only a short run and the wires can be concealed behind the trims and sills. Now admittedly the footage I've watched is from the US and Australia, so I'm wondering whether there is anything we have to do here in the UK that makes it a bigger job?
  6. Hopefully my last true related query for a while. Finally settled on the tyre I want, BFG Urban Terrain. Seem to tick the boxes I need. Issue is that my current Yokohama tyres are 225/60/17. The BFG don't come in this size, nearest being 225/65/17. Can anyone advise on whether there would be any issue with increasing the aspect ratio in this way? Understand there may be some small impact on the accuracy of the speedometer, but other than that, is there anything to put me off going down this route?
  7. Looking for the adjustable divider kit for a transk9 drawer, if anyone has one they'd be willing to sell?
  8. Does anyone have any real world experience of this tire? A good price and gets good reviews on blackcircles. Just wondering whether it would be false economy to go for these over geolander, cross climates etc as an all season tyre.
  9. Can anyone advise whether this would fit a montefeltro?

    Weldmesh Panels

Ah that's annoying. It's specifically 1" mesh I'm after. Thanks for responding though

    Weldmesh Panels

Looking for some weldmesh panels/roll. Ideally after 25mmx25mm (1" in old money) holes in 2mm wire or heavier. Just thought I'd see if anyone has anything they'd be interested in selling before I look at new.
  13. In a good way I presume? Any difference in mpg? Thanks, I'd seen them but hadn't made the short list. Will bear them in mind. Again thanks. I'll take a look. How do you find them for road noise and economy? I appreciate anything is going to be a compromise.
  14. I'm currently running geolander SUV tyres on a subaru forester, which I understand to be the factory fit option. Looking to replace them fairly soon and wondering whether I might be better fitting geolander A/T? Does anyone have any direct experience of both versions, or similar? Attracted by possibly more off road capability in the A/T. However, not felt too undergunned with the SUV (I'm pretty cautious, mainly stone tracks, rides and greasy grass rather than full mud plugging) and worried that I'll sacrifice noise levels and fuel consumption over something I may never really need. 90% of my driving will be tarmac, including 2 hours+ motorway driving to get to stalking grounds etc. Opinions welcome!
  15. Baking soda mixed into a paste and spread over the affected area. Leave it a few days until it dries then hoover it out. Absolutely worked for me in similar circumstances. As I understand it, it deprives the bacteria of oxygen and kills them off completely. It's the bacteria that generates the smell.
  16. Cheers. Yes, they're air bag specific the ones I've bought. Anyone any experience of titan covers?
  17. Cheers folks. I've gone with turtle covers for the front seats for now They've a no quibble return policy, so if not impressed can always send them back. Struggling to find a decent rear cover. Rhino an option, but not heard good things Has anyone bought rhino products recently, any comments?
  18. Can anyone comment from experience on whether it's worth paying more for "tailored" fit seat covers that are cut for an exact fit for the particular model, over -semi-fit covers which seem to be produced on more generic dimensions to fit a number of models? The tailored seem to be double the price, but prepared to pay it if worth it. Would also appreciate some recommendations for manufacturers as seem to be a few about, a lot UK based which is good.
  19. Can anyone confirm whether a comfortech stock off an M2 will fit an older model montefeltro? Both 12b.
  20. Please see a survey from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority seeking views and opinions on wildfire risk. https://www.gmconsult.org/strategy-team/public-perception-of-wildfire/ I've no doubt the antis will be circulating this link amongst themselves in an effort to skew the results. No doubt their agenda being to stigmatise controlled cool burning on shooting estates and ignore the clear risk, and large recent wildfires, associated with land owned by the national trust and others where no heather management is performed. The survey asks you to confirm which local authority area you reside in and lists all in UK, so not restricted to Greater Manchester residents only. I've not seen it mentioned on here or other shooting related forums, so thought I'd share and ask people to complete it. Only takes 10 mins if that.
  21. Fair comment. And to be entirely truthful, your original post has had me questioning my reasoning since I read it. You're right, while petrol vehicles aren't perfect, the glow plug and dpf issues do seem to be the source of the majority of complaints. 30mpg does sound a bit thirsty though after years of diesels!
  22. Always preferred diesels, perception of lower running and fuel cost I guess. Appreciate the dpf issue, but it will be getting a 3 hour motorway run once a month at least to my main stalking ground, with other journeys in addition to local driving. Assuming we return to a level of normality which will allow me to get back to stalking. In no rush to buy until that's on the near horizon! Also will be after a manual in whatever I go for.
