  1. Does anyone know of any outfit currently interested in buying woodies shot with steel shot? Cheshire/Lancs/Derbyshire ideally. Can be fresh or frozen, have access to a suitable chiller.
  2. Thanks. Yes that is very helpful
  3. Extremely long shot, but does anyone have any of the above they'd be willing to part with, preferably after market?
  4. I personally do. Once I've accounted for the territorial birds and catches drop off, I feel I've done my bit. Everyone is different, and full time keepers may take a different view, but what I'm trying to do is disrupt corvid breeding attempts for that season. It's the pairs feeding their own chicks that can do the most damage to eggs and chicks of other species. Even if a crow or magpie pair were to nest and raise a brood now on my spot, chances are they won't be synchronised with the majority of the nesting attempts of their prey species and won't have such a negative impact. Hit them hard late March to Mid May seems to work for me. Can never understand those who start catching lots of fledged magpies mid summer and think they're doing some good. The local damage has already been done by that stage in raising those birds themselves. As I've mentioned on this thread previously, a larsen mate or two alongside the main trap can make the world of difference. Eggs in the catching compartments can make a bird commit too. I'd recommend hard boiling them so they last a bit longer between trap moves and trampling by captured birds.
  5. How is everyone doing on the larsens? I'm finishing up shortly, one or two trap shy magpies and crows about that will be dealt with separately, but a real noticable reduction in both species in the area.
  6. If you can stretch to it, a larsen mate, preferably 2, will increase your catch rate considerably. It may be that they're catching birds that would eventually end up in the main catching compartments, but I'd say at least 70% of the birds I catch, whether crows or magpies, are in the larsen mates adjacent to the main trap. You've already bought a trap by the sounds of it, but for anyone else looking, I'd say the albi-trap version is about the strongest and best value double catching compartment trap around.
  7. Cheers, I think they were based on a 20b action, so may explain them being a bit heavier than others. Did the .410 wingmaster ever come in a left hand variant?
  8. Even rarer than I thought then...
  9. Has anyone any experience of the above gun? How did you find it? Seem even rarer than the 12b or 10b versions, but I imagine they'd be a useful tool, especially with the multi choke option.

    Fox Cage Trap

Looking for the above. Larger the better. Located north cheshire, but willing to travel within reason for the right item. Many thanks
  11. Any indication of the company she used?
  12. Quotes are just shy of £500 for fixed or just shy of £600 for removable. A touch less than I'd seen elsewhere, but prices have clearly gone up in the last few years for whatever reason.
  13. Thanks, I've contacted them for a quote. It is an option. I've priced up an OEM towbar and electrical kit and it's not crazy money, but I remain nervous about taking a dremel or similar to my bumper. I'm reasonably practical, but I'd rather not budge it up. Will see what the quote comes back at them weigh up my options.
  14. Looking at a witter detachable or similar, with 13 point electrics and including fitting is surprisingly expensive. Appreciate you can get other options for less, but not by a huge amount.
  15. How are people getting on with wear and damage to the cross climates? I was very keen on them, but reading up they seemed to have a very soft compound and there were warnings against using them off tarmac as they're not designed for it at all and it doesn't take much to wreck them.
  16. I went through this process myself a little while ago. Still scraping last bit of use out of some geolanders, but settled on the bf urban terrain when I do replace them. Have a look at them, think they're aggressive enough for the little bit of off tarmac you're talking about, but also well suited to normal driving as well.
  17. I believe the subaru has a similar set up, hence the presence of a plug above the rear wheel arch to provide an existing, dedicated connection into the vehicles electronics for use when towing. From what I've learned so far, I think it's more the cutting of the bumper that worries me more than the electrics. Some towbars seem to involve a none visible cut, seems to be the removable versions that offer this. Wondering whether that cut is more to do with the wiring rather than the bar itself and tucked away on the bottom of the bumper, but struggling to confirm as nothing on the net to demonstrate exactly what it involves.

    Browning BPS 10b

Looking for the 10 bore version of the bps. Ideally an older wood and blued steel version, rather than the realtree wrapped model. Anything out there that members know about?
  19. Thanks for the response, that's really helpful. I've been looking at the actual hardware kits as well this morning and most seem to suggest bumper removal and potentially bumper cutting is required. If either is true then it would be a none starter for me, but there was none of that on the footage I've watched. Wondering what the actual truth is?
  20. Does anyone have any experience of retro fitting a towbar to a vehicle? I have a 2013 Subaru forester that would benefit from a towbar. I had initially thought setting up the electrics would be too much for me, noting that having someone do the work seems to be around £700+, including the necessary parts. But a trawl around google and YouTube suggests people are doing it themselves. I was most interested to learn that there is a specific towbar electrics plug located under the rear plastics in the boot of the forester. I had visions of having to run wires right down to the front of the vehicle somehow, hence the expertise and costs involved. However it appears from the videos I've seen that it's only a short run and the wires can be concealed behind the trims and sills. Now admittedly the footage I've watched is from the US and Australia, so I'm wondering whether there is anything we have to do here in the UK that makes it a bigger job?
  21. Hopefully my last true related query for a while. Finally settled on the tyre I want, BFG Urban Terrain. Seem to tick the boxes I need. Issue is that my current Yokohama tyres are 225/60/17. The BFG don't come in this size, nearest being 225/65/17. Can anyone advise on whether there would be any issue with increasing the aspect ratio in this way? Understand there may be some small impact on the accuracy of the speedometer, but other than that, is there anything to put me off going down this route?
