  1. So have I; will have a search for that one.
  2. Ooooh....now that is bad. Mate who owns the land on which our rough shoot is on did exactly the same last season just gone; he now has 3 kids under 9.Fortunately his Mother in law was round every shoot day!
  3. Nice pad, but you've got your priorities all wrong.
  4. Just remembered, 'The Big Red 1' wasn't a bad film either. I'm surprised a good director hasn't made one about Monte Casino yet.

    Rasp to thing

    I quite like that.
  6. But the fact of the matter regarding the licensing of airguns is that not enough people care enough to oppose the proposal. How many bothered to lobby during the consultation period? Somewhere around the 20,000 mark? Out of how many owned? Whether you agree with licensing or not, it wont make any difference to the unlawful use of firearms, and especially airguns because of the sheer numbers out there. Does anyone know how many are in circulation? It is already illegal to shoot domestic pets, and those doing so are doing it furtively when they think there is little chance of them being seen, so this practise will continue even if licensing ensues; the only difference will be that the user of said airgun is in possession of an illegally held firearm, but this is still true even if the owner doesn't shoot anything. So what will happen to all those illegally held airguns? No doubt there will be the usual 'armistice' following licensing, where local authorities will 'big up' all those handed in, but what will happen to all those not handed in? No one has a clue how many there are so no one can claim what percentage of the whole those surrendered will account for. For politicians to claim that licensing is the cure all for societys ills is both misleading and underhanded. It didn't work with CF semi automatic rifles, nor handguns, nor shotguns. No one has committed attrocities with handguns since the ban, nor semi auto cf rifles since they were banned. But like I said, it hasn't worked with shotguns either, so the answer to prevent another attrocity with shotguns is staring us in the face.Isn't it?
  7. You really can't beat Tradis Panel. They have been building houses this way in Norway, Sweden and other Scandinavian countries for donkies. Very sustainable; low carbon footprint and toasty warm. Typical heating costs (this includes water, heating, all electricity) on 4 bedroom detached house with air recovery systems and photo voltaic paneling is 400 to 500 quid per annum. There are no rad's in these houses but you can install them if you wish, but it isn't necessary. We built four locally which are only heated by one log burner which heats the house via the air recovery system. The exteriors are clad in Siberian Larch which is nailed directly onto 2x2 counter batten. Great houses. I realise you're not after a house, but if you're looking for a solid building with low heating costs, then Tradis is the way to go.Google it for your nearest manufacturer.
  8. Aigle for me also from those options. I wont have anything from Harkila anymore; two pairs of their 'best' boots returned after leaking in within less than a year of purchase. Went back to Le Chameau as local stockist doesn't stock Harkila footwear anymore.

    Caution.

Why do some people do this? I just can't figure out the mentality of people like this.
  10. Tradis panel fully insulated with Warmcel.
  11. Cross of Iron is up there with the best, but there's really so many good ones. A Bridge Too Far; Murphy's War; Cockleshell Heroes; Empire of the Sun; Schindlers List; The Bridge at Remargen. Difficuilt to pick just one.
  12. It is recommended that steel is fired through nothing tighter than 1/2 in non steel proofed guns, so if your fixed choke gun is say for example choked at 1/4 and 1/2 then it should be fine. I have used Gamebore Super Steel 3's in a fixed choked gun at 3/4 constriction. It was no problem and yet the gun is not proofed for steel shot. I must stress this was my own decision and cannot advise anyone to do likewise . If your fixed choke gun is too tight for steel , there is always the choice to have the bores opened up somewhat.
  13. I may be interested if there's pictures.
  14. Contacting an applicants GP isn't the issue. Having the applicant contact their GP for a report and then insisting the applicant pays for it, is. The licensing authority bares the cost of contacting an applicants GP. It has always been thus.
  15. Have just spoken to 'apple lady' who says there is a Codling Moth and a Tortrix Moth, but she doesn't know of a spray; she just uses pheromone traps. The only spray she is aware of is for Bitter Pit, which causes brown sunken 'pits' under skin, which can be reduced by calcium nitrate sprays.
  16. I find this unacceptable also. Have you informed your shooting organisation regarding this matter? As you correctly point out; this is neither a legal requirement nor indeed in HO guidelines. BASC have said that they should be informed if licensing authorities are requesting it, but despite being informed on numerous occassions the request still exists. I can only assume that our shooting organisations are making no progress with matters?
  17. Gorgeous looking motor, but have to agree with Landy George.
  18. I read the part regading procedures to follow if GP's report needed, but understood it to mean the invoice was paid by the licensing authority, and not the applicant. If the local rozzers are supposed to wade through all that and not just licensing staff , then I'm not surprised we don't see any on the streets around here.

    Key safe

I don't really 'get' the point of key safes to be honest. If it's on view then it advertises there's something worth having inside; if it's not on view then why not simply hide a single key anywhere within the boundary of the premises; loads of places to choose from rather than one single location which if discovered may as well have a sign above it saying 'Keys in Here'. A key is much easier to hide than a key safe. But that's just me, each to their own. Have a mate who keeps a sturdy but empty key safe near the location of his gun cabinets, in plain view; his reasoning being would be burglars will spend precious time trying to break into it rather than his cabinets, and if they're successful they're still no nearer to getting into the cabinets.
  20. Must admit I was very impressed with their service when I ordered another choke for my gun. Mate had his auto teagued also; job done and back in less than two weeks.
  21. Good write up; really enjoyed that.
  22. Brilliant.Good for him. No joy then War and Peace to follow? The Bible?
  23. I'm not a good sailor either unless it's a BIG ship. Went to the Isle of Man to erect a building a few years ago and all the lads were in the bar for the 3 hour trip. Not me, even if I hadn't been driving the wagon. I was up top on the fresh air where the rolling doesn't effect me. Took some of daughters travel pills prior to next trip and I didn't have to stay outside in the cold, but still no drinking. Have often been offered the chance to go wreck fishing off Whitby with neighbour, but it's a little boat and a long period off shore;too long if you're hoying up everywhere.
  24. The Scorcese remake, with De NIro. Well worth a watch.
