  1. I think those pliers are for bending wire arent they? Im not a fan of despatching pigeons on the deck. I used to regulary end up chasing a pigeon across a field to finish it off when I started out. I just give their necks a good bend and it does the trick or a pellet from the 177 Pistol I sometimes take with me. close range to the head. I have been thinking about getting one of these priests or something else humane for some time now. Dont like the thought of seeing an animal suffer. Best solution is hit them harder with the 1st barrel when they are airborne..

    need help

Get up there in a guilly suit and watch the area when you spot the culprit shooting at trains ambush him/her and cable tie them to the railway line! Problem solved - JUST JOKING - On a serious note id stop shooting there until it stops. If you are caught up there shooting in the vicinity as far as they are concerned you will be arrested and I expect and it would be very hard to prove your innocence. Try and put the word out and find out who it is and hand the information to Police if/when you get it. Sadly its due to the mindless actions of individuals like this that make shooting for innocent people like us difficult.
  3. Cheers matey Look forward to meeting you shortly.
  4. I have been thinking about subscribing to a shooting mag for some time but want to get the best of both worlds from the mag. So after Clay pigeon/Pigeon shooting and some Rifle shooting content. Anyone have any suggestions to a mag that does just that? Just that alot of the mags I seem to get in WHSmith etc have all clay shooting and shotgun content and mention the odd rifle scope in an advert and thats about it. Id rather have more of an all rounder mag. Cheers guys. Tris.
  5. You will struggle to get a 1 or 2L bottle. I have a Buddy Commando Scuba BCD emergency inflate bottle your welcome to which is a DIN fitting. Otherwise I think the closest you will get is a 3L bottle. Why are you after such a small bottle? Is it to reduce the cost?
  6. 2 top quality shots are better than lots of alright shots. Nothing better than hitting a pigeon square on and watching it fold up and hit the deck with a satisfying thud. Well done matey keep up the good work.
  7. Yeah they normally cost £2 approx for a decent sticker. I have one as Im a keen Scuba diver. Never heard you cant be clamped though! Mr traffic warden doesn't browse round the rear of the vehicle that I know of when issuing a ticket. shame if it was true Im sure everyone would be at it.

    Dear Mods

Another forum Im a member of has this debate regulary and 9/10 when a newbie posts something which has been covered before they now get someone reply with SEARCH!!! and other useless replies which not only deter new members but can be read the wrong way. I understand where your coming from with the **** that people have to rifle through sometimes before they get to the good posts but there will always be new members and what some would call stupid questions, you have to take alot of it with a pinch of salt and try to guide the newbies rather than give them the wrong impression. This forum has always been a good source of information for me and I appreciate the more senior members offering their advice and hope someday I can offer advice that I have picked up from here to newbies. Until then ill try to read up as much as possible if I cant find the answer ill put it to the rest of the forum and seek the answer. On a more positive note keep up the good work Mods
  9. I often spend alot of time scanning fields and crops when out & about seeing what the pigeons are feeding on etc. I always get told off for it but try to keep an eye on the road. Its addictive, frustrating when your on the way to work and there is loads of pigeons about and when you finish and want to have a quick shoot there is nothing about
  10. fleabag you have a message cheers for the heads up. Sounds like its ideal. I was looking at the Anschutz 1417 on the web yesterday and like the look of it and there are some good write-ups. Look forward to hearing from you. Tris.
  11. Cheers for the reply's so far guys keep them coming I will look into them tonight and see what my local gunshop has in stock and how much of a delay I can expect if ordering new once my FAC is here.
  12. Ok matey. Will have a good search when I get back tonight just having a quick look now but in work Thats why I cant really trowl through loads of posts atm, hoping to get home tonight and have a nice thread to have a read through. anyone else who is in work with any advice please add below: Cheers. Tris.
  13. Hello fella's Awaiting receipt of my FAC so while my application is going through doing some research on what to get. Been having a look through some posts here but still a a newbie to the Rimfire world. I have been Clay pigeon shooting most weekends for about 14 years now and shoot every other weekend on some land I have access to on various crops for Pigeons/Rooks. The farmer there has a massive problem with rabbits so I have applied for my FAC to help out. I have been out and had a few with the shotgun but its not ideal. I am in the military and have alot of Firearms experience and have had several air rifles in the past prior to joining the armed forces. If anyone has any advise or recommendations for a good rimfire it would be much appreciated. My budget is around £600 but for the right setup I dont mind going £200 over. I was going to get a nice Gen1 NV scope for it also but after looking at the prices have decided to go for a decent day sight to begin with then get a nightsight in the future. Quite new to the rifle side so I apolagise in advance for and silly questions. cheers guys. Tris.
  14. hahahahaha some how i recon r lass would not be happy lol It would be funny to see her face though.. I have never relly thought about re-cycling them or using them for anything useful. I just bin mine. If I had the know how on recharging them them I may give that a go but imagine that takes a fair bit of time which I dont have very often.
  15. I made one some time ago. Basically used an old fishing rod and removed the eyes from it. then bent a old wire coat hanger over it and attached it with electrical tape in a crucifix shape. then attached the pigeon after I shot the 1st bird and voila. one flapper. hard to explain without pictures ill try to get some posted up when I get a chance Tris.
  16. What are the prices matey? Tris.
  17. Shocking story and seems to be becoming so common now that decent people standing up for themselves come away as the guilty one! I woulkd have driven over him as well to defend myself and family if it came to it. Sad thing is if he had been knifed to death in front of his family the offender would have probably got a smaller sentence due to the fact he was on drugs at the time and needs rehab and wasnt awre of his actions bla bla bla.. Country is a joke now. The justice system is ****! Prisons are full so smaller sentences and suspended sentences are being handed down to criminals leaving them free to roam the streets! We need to build more prisons not speed traps and speed bumps. Rant over.. Tris.
  18. I recently bought a new gun as I felt the need to get a newer gun. No other reason other than I wanted something newer and with a little more quality. I went for the beretta 682 Gold E and it is superb. Im no clay pigeon expert so tbh I dont feel too much differance with many guns but this does feel comfortable and I do feel confident with it. I have a few friends who shoot well with their guns but want to upgrade. I think feeling you want to upgrade and not upgrading can also upset your shot a little as confidence goes a long way when your shooting. Best thing to do is as people say try a few guns when your find something that feels good and fits you well go for it. In the end I sold my previous gun on even though I also said I'd prob keep it as I just saw it as ££ tied up that I may as well release and use towards my new gun. Good choice to stick with Beretta Tris.
  19. Bet it is worth some serious £££ as well if its that old and has some history.. good laugh though,
  20. i think the copper just wanted to use the tazer there
  21. cheers Frank. just getting into it really but love it already even had a go at cooking a couple of pigeons last night, 3 more in the freezer for more experiments tonight, last night i just fried them up in red wine with onions and mushrooms with a pinch of salt, im new to cooking too so its all in the name of experimenting
  22. Recently got my shotgun licence and i have just got my 1st shotgun Pigeon shooting most weekends now and loving it
